Half inch light tan head. Cap and collar throughout with splotchy lacing.
Very small whiffs of coconut on the nose.
Pedestrian smoke notes. Just a hint of coconut on the back side. Somewhat muddled. Would guess 6%abv.
Medium mouthfeel, medium carbonation.
Although the rauch is tamer than I prefer, it came out over time. Grew on me. Timid coconut flavor was the big downfall. Worth a try for true smoked bier fans. Thanks for the try mj0126, appreciate it!

Growler thanks to Greg (Reagan1984). Served in a tulip.
A - Off-white foam settles to a thin collar and specks of lace. Transparent dark ruby-brown body.
S - Interesting mix of smoke, coconut, bread, chocolate, and light oak. Not a lot of overt bourbon/whiskey character, which is appreciated as barrel-aging tends to obliterate lower-ABV beers. Nice blend and balance of flavor.
T - The taste has a bit less coconut and a bit more of the base beer's smoke and roast character. Not as overtly hammy as something like Schlenkerla or even the base beer; definitely more woody, charry, and earthy. Mild oak and whiskey contributes some complementary earthiness, but barrel presence is quite restrained.
M - Smokey and dry texture, with a hint of residual stickiness lingering through the finish. Crisp and clean, medium in body, with pleasant low-to-moderate carbonation. Sufficient heft for 5.8% and held up well to the barrel-aging.
D - Good stuff, and an exercise in balance and subtlety. There's enough coconut, but it never gets fatiguing or cloying, and the barrel contributes rather than overpowers. I could have stood for a tiny bit more coconut, but this is a pretty successful treatment of a base beer that I already liked quite a bit.
