Great beer and a great tour. The taproom is a little small but does big things. Growler fills and whatever is on tap is always so good. Very knowedgable staff.

Ahh... I just wrote up a big review and then it somehow didn't take. So here's the long and short:

The Good:
The beers are fantastic, as you probably already know if you live in New England. The tap selection is wide and there's almost always brewery-only bottles available, including sours and their BA variants of the Framinghammer Baltic Porter.

The Not-so-good:
It takes a long time to get to because Massachusetts is a nightmare to drive through. I'm only about 40 miles away and it took over an hour and a half. Also, while the place is decently decorated it doesn't have much of a lounge vibe to it. The building is old, but the taproom feels like a Home Depot setpiece, with lots of tracklighting and gleaming wood. That, and seating is either very limited or nonexistent. Also, we got there an hour before closing and the staff were all busy and a little curt.

The Verdict:
Worth the trip for the brewery-only beers, but don't expect a super fun brewery experience. The taproom is a place for buying beers and maybe sampling a pint; you aren't gonna have that much fun hanging out there.

Made my second visit in as many weeks today. Both were between 4-5pm on a weekday so there were just a handful of people there buying or tasting. The guys working at the counter were very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had about the beers.

The space is nice but almost all standing room with just 5 stools at the counter. Not an issue when I went but on a weekend I imagine it could get kind of tight.

All of the current choices are clearly laid out on a chalkboard with various pricing options for samples, glasses, growlers, etc. There was quite a range on tap. Light, dark, maltly, hoppy, strong, sessionable, well known flagships and new small batch creations. It shouldn't be a problem for you to find one (or several) that you like.

Jack's Abby is doing great things with lagers and I feel fortunate that they are close enough for me to drop in sample at the source. Sometime soon I would like to do the tour and see the actual brewing operations. If you find yourself in the area during open hours you really should stop by to taste what's happening.
