Had this on 2013-10-16 in Lancaster, PA at Hunger & Thirst.

Note: This is described on their beer board as: "Helltown Purgatory (Idle Hands w/ Galaxy Hops)

A - Hazy golden peach with a 1-finger white head and moderate lacing.

S - Pineapple, light malt, peach, hop floral.

T - Overly-ripe pineapple, peach skin, light pine, light malt. Bitterness comes in pretty quickly and lingers but not too long. Very spicy hop finish.. Dries nicely.

M - Light-medium body and carbonation. Pretty soft. Hint of prickle and resin but doesn't cling to the mouth.

O - A very enjoyable DIPA although I like their regular Idle Hands DIPA better because it is more balanced.

Served - Growler filled at the brewery. Got my growler filled less than 6 hours after this batch was kegged. Can't get it any fresher! Poured into a tulip.

A - A very hazy orange with a 1 finger head and medium carbonation. Beautiful looking beer.

S - Very nice smell. Grapefruit, a little pine, citrus, and just a touch of onion. A lot going on here.

T - Follows the nose pretty well. Grapefruit and citrus with a tinge of cardboard on the finish.

M - Goes down smooth with just a touch of bitterness on the tongue. The carbonation tickles the tongue.

O - Very enjoyable. The smell is fantastic. My only complaint is the minor cardboard like finish. Aside from that, it was a great beer. Not quite as good as Idle Hands, but very good.

Poured from a growler filled about 25 mins before opening.

A- a deep burnt orange hue with a decent finger of head that doesn't stick around long

S- sweet malts, resinous plant matter, melon, grapefruit, pineapple, little bit of alcohol towards the end

T- grapefruit/oranges, grassy resin, pineapple, melons, sweet malts. I'm not a fan of a big malt background in IPA's but this one is just enough.

M- medium bodied, not very attenuated, there is some sweetness to play around with the hops. Tiny bit of alcohol noticeable but at 8% that's expected

O- Helltown does a really good job with its hoppy offerings. But there is usually batch variation to the point where some batches are outstanding and some are just ehhhhhh. This one was a pretty good one. I'd like to see them become a bit more consistent. If you see this one on draft I'd venture to say it's going to be better than a lot of the ther beers on though

A great example of the style. Very fresh. Not an overwhelming DIPA like some. Resin notes. Some floral. High quality. Malt flavor well balanced with the hops. I could drink a ton this. This beer could use a good canning line. This beer does not disappoint. Drink it. Love it.

Pours a hazed medium gold color with a bit of white head and lace.
The smell is tropical like melon, pineapple and mango.
In the taste, pine and mango flavor with a bit of citrus from the malts and pale malt backing. Some alcohol is noticeable but not distracting. Medium to full bodied, well carbonated feel. Overall, a good double ipa, but not world class.

Been too long since I have had something new from Helltown.

Looks good on the pour. Nose was nice and boisterous at first but has calmed down rather quickly. Flavor is pine resin, for the most part. It's consistent and very easy to drink. I don't know why, but I was expecting something more obnoxious. This is not that at all. Quite smooth and easy drinking. A nice double ipa from Helltown. Frankly though, I expect no less from them at this point.

Purgatory Batch #3.

It's dark in here, but she looks a hazy orange gold color. The head hasn't really surmounted to much, but I like the hue.

Super citrusy with fleshy mango, pineapple, and stone fruits that go 'boom'. Really smells awesome. Has the aroma of Sunny D or Simply Orange w/Mango. Great juicy aroma with lots of hoppiness, but considerably low bitterness (probably). Sweet and pale, with a breadiness. Awesome nose.

Mango, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, and apricot. Sure enough, bitterness is lower. Still has a crisp character that follows with juicy hop fruitiness. Definitely dry-hopped to hell, with some leafiness to showcase. Pulpy sweetness beats out pithy bitterness, which in this case might be raw leafy bitterness.

Tastes juicy, but the feel is kind of light. The alcohol has a slight sting, but I don't know where it should be, because I don't know the ABV. I'd hope it's at least 8%. Carbonation is low, which allows the medium body to feel a little extra wet.

Great beer. Almost rivals Idle Hands.
