This bar is located between the Cheesecake Factory and Belks in Crabtree Valley Mall. They have another small bar with mall seating directly downstairs. Huge red biplane hanging in the mall outside the bar front makes it hard to miss.

12 or so taps upstairs with all NC beers, mostly locals, on tap. Another 6 or so taps downstairs. Got sucked into the mall with the family on a Saturday afternoon, so this place was a very nice surprise. Big Boss, Lonerider, Aviator, and CBC all represented locally. Mother Earth, Foothills, Highland, Red Oak, and Duck Rabbit represented regionally. Beer prices were a little high, but this is the mall.

Sandwiches dominate the reasonably priced section of the menu, but salads abound as do some slightly high-priced and relatively adventurous entree selections. Decent place for a quick meal.

TV's upstairs give you a chance to catch up on a game or two, but did not notice any in the much smaller downstairs bar area.

If the wife is forcing you to go the mall, make her pick Crabtree and this place will help you to not regret the trip.

I visited here 1/25/16, the Monday after a large snowstorm hit the area. The parking lot was an ice sheet and apparently people just park wherever they damn well please. Lines on the ground are merely a guide, not the law.

I am a craft beer junky so I was glad to find this place. I was staying at a hotel across the street but a co-worker picked me up and we drove. It's in a good location there at the mall, but parking is a nuisance.

The beer list was pretty sweet. It was all craft beer and local stuff dominated. I got a local Black IPA and Duck Rabbit Porter, which is a favorite of mine. For food, I got a salad and was disappointed. It was all greens with very little toppings. If you are going to serve me a bowl of spinach, just say so on the menu. A bowl of spinach with sporadic toppings does not a salad make.

Interesting fact: they serve their beers in two 8 oz glasses. The reasoning? To keep the second half of your beer cold so your hand doesn't warm said beer. I am not sure how anybody else drinks their beers, but I don't generally hold the beer in my hand the whole time I am drinking it. I usually rest it on the bar or table at which I am dining. Interesting concept but the efficacy doesn't really translate.

It has the feel of a chain bar, even though it is a stand-alone, but it feels cozy and unpretentious like a neighborhood bar. They have around 10 beers on tap, but all are excellent local brews; I have no idea how many they have in bottles since I never saw a bottle list. Serving people are very efficient, helpful and friendly, and service is quick even when they are busy. They have several TVS tuned to sports, but no sound and no ambient music, so the only noise is conversation. Food is very tasty and reasonably priced. If they have rotating taps of just North Carolina's finest, this is definitely worthy of multiple visits if you live in Raleigh, or visit frequently.
