Tonight is Convergence by Backlash. Bottled Sept 2011, Batch 1.

Appearance is a lovely light gold with little head. It's also quite transparent at the first pour, but cloudy toward the third pour. Carbonation is well done.

Smell is sweet, fruity and spicy.

Taste is spicy and sweet, but not overwhelming in the way that some Belgium styled beers are. It's not mild, but a nice medium; sweet at first, then leads to a nice spice and fruit flavor in the middle and ends with such. It's a completely full bodied beer, no dryness whatsoever.

This beer is great. It doesn't have an overbearing spice taste which makes it almost like a nectar. It's easy to drink, and easy to share.

Appearance: 1/4 inch head, hazy, gold in color, high carbonation, clear

Smell: apple, hay, and Belgian spices

Taste: apple, hay, and Belgian spices and sugars with slight earthy bitterness at the end

Mouthfeel: sweet with slight bitterness, medium-light bodied with low carbonation

Overall: I enjoyed this saison. It is above average and the bitterness at the end is just enough to balance out the sweetness. The alcohol is well hidden. I would probably pick this up again.

Reviewing this beer from notes, had over the summer. Smell rich, yeasty, with a bit of citrus mingled in. Appearance cloudy dark gold. Taste the yeast comes through here again and adds a nice mouthfeel as well. Nice depth next sip reveals a little of the citrus that appeared on the nose as well as what would be called earthiness if i was reviewing a wine, but essentially a really nice malty quality punctuated at the end with a nice spiciness from the use of the rye. Overall a really well done beer and one I'm looking forward to trying again as i write this review.

Draught @ Noho Brewfest: This one poured a cloudy, golden color. There was a small white head that leaves some lacing. It has a nice nose. Some spices, earthiness, yeast, citrus and wheat. The taste is also very good. Wheat, spiciness, citrus, some sweetness and dryness. A nice saison.
