Picked up a bomber at the 4F, evidently they're only getting out to a few places around the brewery. Had a few sips out of a growler a while back & liked it, so, here we are.
Split into two pint glasses on a quiet Wednesday evening. Looks watery golden. Smells like a field of damp grains - with a bad case of mold. Something off in the nose; like unidentified leftovers gone bad in the fridge. Definitely don't recall that from the first time.
Provider's flawed nose doesn't carry over to the taste, which is better. Again with the grains, hazed wet hops, white bread, sliver of orange. All subtle, all quiet, subdued. But the taste takes a hit from the nose which has to be endured with each sip.
Not sure if this is an off-bottle or not, but the nose really brings this down. Fix that & this would be a solid ale.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.
Appearance: Hazy straw yellow with nice, brilliant white cap and minor lacing.
Smell: Lemon, grass and citrus. Pretty floral and dry smelling.
Taste: Bread, lemon and a light grassiness. Finish is floral, not bitter. Unfortunately, there is an aftertaste that I would almost say is medicinal, despite not having any cherry flavor.
Feel: Light but firm body. Lively carbonation. Finish is almost nicely dry, but the lingering aftertaste has some residual sweetness.
Overall: If not for the aftertaste, this would have been a top notch Blonde Ale. This is my first experience with Steel Toe, but I bought the other three year round bombers they offer, and I remain very hopeful about those.
