I've gotten the Rainmaker in a growler a few times but this is the first time I've tried it out of the bottle. It pours a sublime medium-dark red with a very small bit of foam at the top. The smell isn't anything to write home about but the taste is just what you'd expect from a red IPA--hoppy and fresh with some subtle fruit undertones. It's incredibly drinkable and the 6.5% abv won't put you under.
Overall, it's a tasty beer but I prefer it out of the growler.

a clean deep amber/mahogany in color with 2 fingers of creme colored head which dissipated slowly leaving behind intense amounts of sticky lacing. the smell is of sweet caramel, lots of citrusy and piney hops, herbal hops.. hops hops hops! a tea like flavor up front, very sweet and malty, getting a nice herbal bitterness, some grapefruit flavor, this is a very nice amber ale. lingering bitterness dies off as soon as you get the next sip, but then comes back stronger!
a medium bodied beer with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. a very nice offering, once again, from steel toe.
