a clean deep amber/mahogany in color with 2 fingers of creme colored head which dissipated slowly leaving behind intense amounts of sticky lacing. the smell is of sweet caramel, lots of citrusy and piney hops, herbal hops.. hops hops hops! a tea like flavor up front, very sweet and malty, getting a nice herbal bitterness, some grapefruit flavor, this is a very nice amber ale. lingering bitterness dies off as soon as you get the next sip, but then comes back stronger!
a medium bodied beer with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. a very nice offering, once again, from steel toe.

Had on tap at Ward 6 St Paul. Good amber.
This style is a moving target for me. From the Bell's amber, to Nordeast, to this, there is an immense amount of variation. The menu said "double red ale" so, I'll go with that
Deep red, nearly brown. Very nice color. Thin head, could have been the pour. Bar staff seemed focused in throwing out the volume.
Great caramel malt flavor. Nice body to the beer. Full mouthfeel. Strong alcohol finish. Very nice hop. On the red ales sometimes, things get too fruity. This was a nice bitter finish.
Had a Reuben. Excellent pairing.

A- Dark red, almost purple, thick tan head with nice retention, it is very nice looking
S- Caramel malt, earthy and medicinal hop aroma
T- Similar to smell but with more medicinal finish, caramel flavor gives way to a clean, medicinal hop bitterness that lingers pleasantly
M- I think it is a bit thin for a "double" anything, but it is okay. Not quite as chewy as I would like
O- A nice beer, I generally don't like these medicinal finish beers, but this is very nice. I would drink it again.
