750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep amber. Small white head. Thin collar.

Smell - Toffee. A hint of oxidation. Caramel with that distinct scotch ale aroma.

Taste - Sweet caramel. Toffee. Buttery. Nutty. Slightly bitter in the back with just a hint of oxidation.

Mouthfeel - Medium heavy. Medium low carbonation.

Overall - Tastes good, not very interesting, though.

Dark amber color with a red tint. One finger of head that slowly settles to a thin cap. Moderate amount of spotty lacing is left down the glass.

Not the strongest of aromas. Get the caramel, toffee, and bready malt with floral and earthy notes. No sign of alcohol.

Flavor is smooth, rich, and clean. Wonderful caramel and toffee flavor. Minor earthy notes. Alcohol is well hidden with barely any warmth. I wonder if the brewer used an American yeast? Do not get much for fruity esters or buttery byproducts.

Big body with excellent carbonation that gives the body a creamy mouthfeel. Well done.

Nothing too special about the flavor of the beer but still well done.

Brownish murky red wine type body, thin finger of off-white head retains briefly, good amount of alcohol legging.

Loads of toasted grain and hard water / brown ale notes, sweet soft caramel qualities, extremely soft and approachable for an 11% beer - zero booze on the nose, maple syrup, earthy faint hops, nice.

Caramel apple, leathery toffee, some fresh tobacco, they warned that the booze was still pretty hefty but I don't pick any of that up... peat moss, a touch of black licorice, easy drinking.

I'm not typically a scotch ale drinker but this is nice.

Pours deep mahogany, translucent with a fleeting head and no lace. Smells of sweet malt and caramel, though fairly muted. Taste is Rollos, toffee, caramel malt, biscuit, malty and more malt with a hint of citric hop. Mouthfeel is creamy with a nice level of carbonation. Overall though it has a rather nondescript appearance and a muted smell, it tastes quite nice and is well crafted and the finish is clean enough to keep me interested. The high ABV is not immediately apparent but it really sneaks up on you.
