The nose is not big. There is some caramel, dark kettle sugars, and light grain. There is no smoke, no big fruit aromas, no diacetyl, and no big alcohol aromas. It pours brilliant ruby tinted chestnut under a very thin white head that quickly dissipates. Big malt flavors supported with kettle sugar caramelization, English malt spiciness bordering on anise, and a gentle nuttiness. The upfront sweetness dries out somewhat on the finish. Hops are fairly low. The overall palate is clean and smooth. The body is chewy supported by medium to a little less on the carbonation.

Appearance: Pours a clear, deep amber to copper brown color with a strong light tan head that is heavy and lingers. SRM of 14-18. (4.25)
Aroma: Strong aromas of rich bread and caramel upfront. (3.75)
Flavor: Strong flavors of rich caramel, toffee, maple syrup. Sweet bread pudding underneath. Light earthy and floral notes. Rich and finishes sweet. (4.00)
Feel: Heavier-bodied, appropriate carbonation. Smooth and hides the ABV well. (4.25)
Overall: A fun style that is underrepresented I think. Aside from Founders Dirty Bastard don't see a lot of these. They can be very good as this one is. This hits all the checkmarks. Pours beautifully. Milder on the aromas, but fantastic flavors of rich caramel, brown bread, toffee, maple syrup. It's sweet, but not overly so and hides the alcohol extremely well. Even has a nice earthy and floral note to it. I'd say this is one of the better ones I've had and for 10% this beer is a wonder. (Rating: 4.03+)

12oz can. No dating information found.
Amber brown colored body. One finger of khaki colored head, and this remains as a full cap. Leaves behind horizontal webs of lacing.
Aroma of sweet malts, with caramel, brown sugar, and a touch of molasses.
Taste is also sweet, with malt flavors of caramel, toffee, and a little molasses. Has a bit of pine resin hops at the end.
Creamy mouth feel, with a touch of stickiness. Allows the higher ABV% to balance in the flavors, and this includes some tongue sting with each sip. Very good carbonation.
Has a balanced sweetness to go with the heavy caramel and toffee malt flavors.

Brown with one finger of white head. Looks good.
Nose is sweet and a bit toasty. Not enough of a molasses taste to bring up brown sugar for me, but definitely sweet.
Taste is the same. Sugary with a hint of hops at the end.
Mouth is slick but rinses clean.
Nice brew.

This beer pours a murky brownish orange color with a very thin tan head. The head fades quickly, leaving absolutely no lace.
This beer smells of sweet caramel malt. It has a pleasant molasses aroma with hints of brown sugar. It also has a very subtle toffee aroma.
This beer tastes like it smells. Nice sweet maltyness to it.
This beer is a little thin in the mouthfeel. It leaves a caramel like aftertaste.
Overall this beer was good. Not great, but good. Thanks Sarah for the hook up.

Thanks to Jeff for this one. 750ml capped bottle into a Cigar City snifter. Shared with schen9303.
Pours a .5 finger cream colored head with low retention. Beer is a clear, dark mahogany. Lacing is spotty with little stick and thin legs. Pretty average.
Nose is caramel, brown sugar, molasses, and a bit of sweet booze. Really subtle.
Opens sweet and slightly bitter. Hints of caramel, brown sugar, molasses and a tree sap bitterness. Light hop presence lingers in the middle and distracts from an otherwise well put together brown sugar and nutty sweetness. Some syrup and booze towards the end that finishes with an accented green grape and scotch kick. Pretty tasty.
Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Smooth and slick in the mouth and goes down soft and a bit warm. Finishes slightly messy with a light, sticky aftertaste. Very good.
As a fan of one-dimensional malt-bomb scotch ales, this could use a little time in my opinion. Still, fresh, its pretty good. Nice complexity with a very good feel to put things together.
