If you are a serious home Brewer this place is not helpful. You will not find any types of grains or hops here. The only things you will find are extract kits and basic equipment. The people that work there are very nice and their prices are good on the few items that they have. This store is great for the first time home Brewer but once you've brewed a few batches you will want to find a store dedicated only to brewing. The area this store is in is very nice you will find a little bit of everything here and there are plenty of places to get a cold beer and relax.

I live in downtown Richmond, VA and there are two distinct choices for brewing supplies here. One is in Chester and and is very expensive and the other is here in the city and far more convenient and inexpensive. In the heart of Carytown, is the Compleat gourmet which is primarily a cooking utensil kind of store, however they also have a nice stash of beer brewing necessities. They have essentials like base beer brewing kits, brewer's yeast (activator packs and general brand stuff), wine and champagne yeast, carboys, campden, gymsum, caps, bottles, stoppers, airlocks, all only a few dollars. I stop in here all the time, and enough gypsum for a lifetime is $1.99 here. Not jacked up like in most home brew stores I've seen.

Owner is attentive and will special order items for you! Great place to have.
