This poured amber brown with a fairly loose head that receded to the rim after a few seconds. Although I thought the pour initially looked promising, as the head collapsed and I realized it was simply opaque (the cloudiness wasn't just the result of an active carbonation... no no, there is definitely shit suspended in there) I was less impressed. Smell is terrific though, dominated by strong orange citrus notes.

The taste reaffirms the citrusy bouquet. The initial impression is of orange/lemon peel, but this is definitely no hop monster and I certainly wouldn't describe it as "spicy". Still, it's supported by a sturdy malt background (burnt caramel?) and I like the taste overall.

The drinkability was also very good - perfect carbonation and a great mouth feel. As is to be expected with a IIPA it's a little thick, but given the alcohol content I was surprised at its weak burn/presence.

Would probably have another one of these to mix things up, but not a go-to DIPA (or even IPA) to satiate a hop craving.

Meh. It's a Double IPA that will make you think you're drinking some kind of stout hybrid. You drink an IPA and you expect pine or citrus immediately. To me (because we all taste things differently) this is more like a weird stout with a full mouth feel and bitter on the end. Not refreshing on a hot day. Reminds me of Ron Burgundy choosing milk. I wouldn't order it if my IPA choices were Racer 5, Ballast Point, Fig Mountain, Firestone Walker, Lagunitas...

Nice beer! I like the cloudy look - with bright sunshine coming through. The smell was a bit muted, but what there was was pleasant enough.

The taste hit most of the right notes for me - juicy! Bitter with no discernible off-flavors. I'm not sure I would call the taste "complex," but it tasted right as a DIPA. Carbonation felt right to me as well.

There are certainly better and more flavorful DIPA's out there. This one wasn't a home run, but it was a pretty solid triple (even though it's a "double").

I would get this again.
