Our take on Dusseldorf’s broad style features our most complex grain bill, which produces a malty, amber beer with a lot of flavor. Saphir hops give it a spicy, noble aroma and delicious hop profile. Definitely on the hoppy side for this style of beer, but still smooth and well-balanced.

one of their more common ones but somehow ive missed it until now. i am such a fan of these guys, and was stoked to get to enjoy this on draft. deep amber in color with over an inch of airy off white head, standing tall the whole drink. the nose here is nutty and hearty, kilned and toasted more than caramelized and baked and sweet, its not rich in the traditional sense, but it has a lot going on, some spiciness to me too, could be a little pale rye malt in the mash but it could be the hops too, grassy and brighter in this than maybe is common in the style, a pleasant sort of lagered briskness to it and an old world yeast character, all the elements are here. the flavor is very cohesive, hoppy even earlier on in the flavor, notes of dried red apple, hazelnut, almond flour, raisin, wet soil, hay or straw, light black pepper, and juniper as it warms, really flavorful, certainly german in origin to me. fuller bodied for what it is, crisp for being so malt forward, dry pretty much the whole way too. very well made, these guys can do no wrong as far as i am concerned! perfect fall beer.

Look: Semi-clear amber red in color with a good-looking head that builds up and quickly settles to a lid, leaving good lacing on the glass
Aroma: Freshly baked brown bread, floral hop notes, raw dough, melanoidin, some light earthiness, toffee, and lightly toasted grains
Taste: Bread and toffee kick it off as waves of floral hops and dough build and work their way into the mix. Light melanoidin and rich, deep toasted cereal grain notes linger as the initial hit fades and closes with caramel, toffee, and bready malt
Mouthfeel: Full but light feeling, ridiculously clean throughout, medium-high carbonation, and a smooth and soft finish
Overall: This is delicious. Man, these folks make tasty beer and given that I rarely see this specific offering at one of only a couple local places that carry their stuff, it was a no-brainer, especially at barely a month old. An awesome American-made Altbier with lots of rich bready depth, caramel/toffee, and floral hops in a clean drinking and quaffable package. I’m in. Get you some!

Can from Brewers Haven. Hazy medium golden, small bubbly head. Sweet nutty aroma, malty. Taste is also mildly sweet, soft bitterness, more nuts, malt. Smooth, soft. Nice body, and nice lingering bitterness, dry. These guys are getting my attention.

Very pretty beer. Pours a bright, clear glass with moderate head. Nose is a faint malty, bready smell. Taste is a bit off for us --- the first sip has a clean malt come up which then falls off immediately off to a thin and slightly bitter liquid. Low carbonation, not much for mouthfeel. I'd not seek this one out, even taking into account the beer was canned on Jan 30th and it's only June 6th.

Overall a tasty beer. Canned on 06/06/18.

Semi-clear copper/amber body with a two finger head from a vigorous pour. The head settles to a delicate ring around the glass.
Malt in the nose. Then after that...more malt with some graininess and caramel sweetness.
grainy, malty taste with some apple skin and ripe grape. A very nice finish on this one with some spicy and herbal hops.
Medium body with good carbonation. A slight pepperiness breaks up the wonderfully smooth body.

This is the kind of beer I would drink by the case and not be wishing for anything else.

I must say, this beer impressed me, & I would choose it over my favorite Pilsner. Very crisp and refreshing. Amber color, foamy head with streak lacing. Aroma is grain, grass, slightly floral. Flavor is light citrus, floral, grass, and some cracker malt. A metallic hint as well, but it finishes clean, with some malty tones. I'm going to be drinking this one throughout the summer for sure!

Can from Brewers Haven... Pours very clear light orange.. grainy and sorta biscuity.. hints of fruitiness, but airs out after a swirl in the glass.. incredibly clean and perfect for an easily overlooked beer style. Dig this one a bunch.

Great cold day for an altbier. Served in my shiny new Full Sail tumbler.

Look : Honey colored body; 90% opaque; faint silhouette of my fingers on the other side. The head is edgy, fluffy, porous, and popcorn colored. 3 fingers. Leaves diseased lace as it recedes.

Smell : Orange peel; caramel; amber malts; some toffee notes and fruity esters. Medium strength.

Taste : Caramel malts forward; orange peel and grapefruit; a bit of bread crusts, yeast, fruit and spices. It ends candy-like with yeast and fruity esters.

Feel : Hard water carbonation; prickly feel, but with a slight creaminess; semi-dry cap.

Overall : Not all that impressive but still not a bad trial. If I were up in Oregon again I'd probably skip this one. Still, it's another brewery to check off my list.

Malty grain goodness, with a crackery sweetness that possesses just a hint of chocolate. Spectacular rich deep copper color. Hard to imagine a more handsome beer. Drinking it on a cool fall day, but seems like it has a flavor/mouthfeel profile that would fit any season. This pint canned about 2 months ago - very appreciative of the clear dating that Occidental uses. Excellent beer!
