Six month Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrel aged version of our double-mashed imperial stout Bearded Lady. The barrel ageing softens the beer adding rich bourbon, sweet vanilla and a hint of oak. Dessert Edition is further aged with additions of Venezuelan Cacao Nibs, Madagascan Vanilla and Indian Cinnamon, adding satisfying chocolate flavours and a hint of spice. Powerful, robust, intriguing, yet decadently smooth and sumptuous.

Malt : Brown, Carafa Special 3, Chocolate, Extra Pale, Oat
Hops : Hurkules, Magnum, Target
Adjuncts : Cacao Nibs, Vanilla, Cinnamon
Yeast : WLP001

16 ounce crowler into snifter, filled on 5/15/2019. Pours opaque pitch black color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, cinnamon, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, molasses, raisin, prune, fig, cherry, date, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Slight booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, cinnamon, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, molasses, raisin, prune, fig, cherry, date, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, roast, char bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, cinnamon, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, biscuit, dark bread/crust, licorice, molasses, dark fruit, light smoke/char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a fantastic roast/hop bitter/sweet, and bourbon/oak/cinnamon spiciness balance; with zero cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness, and bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol or barrel booze lingering after the finish for 10.5%. Overall this is an incredible barrel aged flavored imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the huge ABV; with the mellowly bitter/charred/spicy/tannic/drying finish. Amazingly soft feel for the ABV. Amazing balance of super rich malts, vanilla/cocoa/cinnamon flavorings, and bourbon barrel presence/integration; with solid earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing dessert style example.

Pours jet black with some fine cocolate colored foam.

Smell is sweet with rich notes of chocolate truffles, some whisky, oak and a hint of coffee. Smells like a liquid chocolate cake.

Taste is rich and sweet, with notes of coffee, chocolate truffles, coconut, some oak and some booze.

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice dessert stout that I would like a little bit thicker.

330 ml can, Bottle and Books, Bristol - Pours dark black with a thin tanned foamy head. Medium carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma - Roasted malts, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate. Taste - Sweet forefront, cinnamon and vanilla, roasted malt/chocolate middle, light dry bitter finish. Lovely smooth well balanced imp stout. Hides its ABV really well. Reminded me of Lervig 3 Bean Stout with the cinnamon notes. Worth finding.

Tan head. Black color.

Great adjuncts here. The cinnamon shows the most. Light barrel. Vanilla and chocolate also show. Could use a bit more viscosity.

I really enjoyed the level of cinnamon. Definitely made this a solid beer.

Colour: opaque black. Foam brown in color, is reduced very quickly to a thick ring, no decorations.
Aroma: noble coffee liqueur, chocolate, fried plums, vanilla.
Taste: roasted malts, coffee, cinnamon, ginger and vanilla clearly.
Saturation of low alcohol perfectly hidden.

On tap at Borefts 2015. An amazing imperial stout, full of syrupy dark chocolate and bourbon goodness. Thick and full-bodied, but surprisingly drinkable.
