Almost perfection, there are no weak links in this beer's chain. Drunk between the Rutland Arms and Dada in Sheffield, this beer's golden orangy glow and complex white lacing are a treat for the eyes. In the mouth its almost perfection with a muscular but supple body which supports the flavour profile of tight juniper and resiny intensity. But its the body's full silky lusciousness which really wins this over for me.

Undoubtedly my favourite UK brewed IPA for the minute. A pile driver in the face of the 'cask or nothing else' movement.

Thanks for waiting for me to open this, Tony!

Clear copper and dull orange with a moderately sized off-white head that leaves irregular lines of lace down the glass.

Sweet aroma of stale, sweet malts, bread crusts, celery and onion, and mild citrus.

The flavor is very vegetal, mimicking a mirepoix: onion, celery, and carrot. The celery and onion components are strongest along with a mild bitterness. Not very good.

Thin to medium mouthfeel with moderate carbonation.

This is a very poor, flawed IPA.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of June 2012 (batch 2781). Picked up recently from the Bottle, York.

Poured into a Delirium tulip. A hazy orange-amber hue with low carbonation. Almost no head; a brief foamy effervescence occurs while pouring but disappears within seconds. An intense hoppy aroma of resinous pine with hints of citrus and tropical fruit. Notes of sweet malt and dry yeast in the background.

Tastes of overwhelming aromatic hops, culminating in a bitter finish. Notes of pine resin, citrus and tropical fruit. Hints of malt and dry yeast. Intensely bitter upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, prickly and spicy. Highly astringent - dries the palate thoroughly. Good body. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops; plenty of pine in evidence.

Impressive - a fantastic IPA. Defiantly American in style, and intensely hoppy in aroma and flavour. These had only just arrived at the shop after a period of absence, so I believe they were pretty fresh. I reckon this could give a few US-brewed IPAs a run for their money. If you like hoppy IPAs, then this is the brew for you.

A: poured from a 330 ml bottle ( best by end Oct 13) into a pint glass, orange amber colored with a nice white head that lingers leaving some lacing, cloudy

S: very citrus aroma, orange, lemon zest, grapefruit, pineapple, fruit salad, outstanding

T: grapefruit peel, lemon, sweetens in middle, finish is dry and pine

M: heavier and slightly oily, higher carbonation, slight alcohol

O: the smell of this beer is near perfection for an American style IPA, other characteristic are good but overshadowed by the excellent nose, awesome that a UK brewery nailed a West Coast IPA

330ml bottle bought from The Vineyard, Belfast

Poured an bright amber colour. Slightly off white head poured thick and meringue like then faded slowly to good thick coating... very faint carbonation drifts slowly to surface... some decent patchy lacing...

Aroma - Lots of grassy and peppery hops, lightly toasted bready malts, slightl caramel notes, some fig and orange fruitiness (marmalade hints), some woody traces, light ginger and peppery spiciness, toasted nuts...

Taste - Again peppery and citrus hop bitterness followed by light spicy fruits (bitter oranges, pears), some butterscotch notes, toasted bready malts, light caramel sweetness, light metallic traces, some saltiness...

Feel - Sharp initially then smooths out... light bodied... Extremely drinkable although a bit on the strong side to be sessionable..

Overall - A very good IPA and up with the best of the Americans... recommended

A: Pale yellow and slightly hazy with a small bubbly white head.

S: Dank and slightly skunky with notes of spicy grapefruit. Light orange and tangerine notes waft from the glass, blending with restrained tropical characteristics. Malt is faint and crackery.

T: Upper moderate bitterness with lots of grapefruit rind and orange pith notes. Light skunky notes with an herbal edge and restrained earth and pine. The finish has a little astringency and alcohol is well hidden. Malt is far in the background.

M: Upper light in body with medium low carbonation.

Overall: A better than expected IPA from across the pond.
