Bottle brought back from Barcelona, bought at 2D2DSpuma.

A: Pours a dark, murky copper, almost chestnut. A finger of light tan head that collapses into a ring. Not unattractive but not to style.

S: A big whiff of caramel malt, and some floral hoppiness. That part's fine, but there is definitely some sort of pocket change aroma underneath. Not overpowering but noticeable.

T/M: Sweet malt up front, and a nice bitterness on the finish. The hops are piney and not particularly strong. Kind of yeasty, and there's a little tart off-flavor that screams "homebrew" at me. Mouthfeel is thin and a little fizzy.

O: I had some surprisingly good beers in Catalunya, but this wasn't one of them. I'd take it over an Estrella but it's middling all the way.

This sparkling copper-hued beer produces a three-inch, rocky white foam that is long lasting and noisy. The almost clear, dark amber (SRM 13-14) beer produces columns of carbonation racing throughout. Spotty lace forms big islands on the Sempli IIPA glass.

Wild yeast dominates the aroma while allowing sweet fruits to reach out with banana at arms length. Up close, this one reveals soapiness and some sort of cleaning agent. No hops or malts were distinguishable.

The flavor clearly demonstrates banana bread, not dissimilar to a Hefeweizen. Mild bitterness is as expected of the style, however the other characteristics diverge. Throughout the middle, one experiences Juicy Fruit gum. The long finish is unpleasantly bitter. Warmth brings out a surprisingly high level of sweetness and perhaps allspice.

Vibrant carbonation punctuates the medium body while alcohol is noticeable but controlled. Harsh astringency decimates the sweetness.

Some of the wild IPAs on the market today are quite interesting. This one misses the mark for me. While I enjoyed it for the adventure, it lacks intrinsic quality and refinement of flavor and aroma. Adjustments to the formula may improve this beer in the future.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. The bottle is a gift from my mother-in-law, thanks Lilian!
the beer pours a rich mahogany color with lots of white sediment chunks suspended in the glass. The foam is creamy and covers about 1 cm and fades to a sturdy and spongey surface layer. The foam doesnt dissipate throughout the sampling.
Aroma is some spicy yeast with a little bit of cloves and heavy musty blanket notes from the brett. I dont get much hop character on the nose.
First sip reveals an average body with minimum yet prickly carbonation. The texture is slightly watery which makes the beer go down really easy on each sip.
Flavor is a little bit of caramel malt and then is taken over by musty brett character. The brett lingers after each sip and with that funky must note. I dont get any hops in the flavor either, i find this an interesting experiment of a beer, but calling it an IPA is a little misleading for setting up the expectations of the beer.
There is some nice complexity and brett character, missing any hop presence hurts the nose and flavor, but otherwise this is a drinkable ale.

On tap at The Birch in Norfolk, VA.

This one pours a light amber color, with a small head, and just a little bit of lacing.

This smells kinda musty, and slightly smoky, with some grainy maltiness, and essentially no hop aroma.

It seems like this one might be brewed with Brett- I looked up the beer and it says "double fermented with ale and wild yeast." The wild yeast seems to be Brett, given the musty flavor I'm getting out of this one. There's some fruity yeastiness, but absolutely no hop flavor here, which is puzzling. It is supposed to be an IPA after all. There's some smoky flavors, along with sweet malty graininess. One of the more perplexing IPA's I've had, and not in a good way.

This one is fairly light bodied, slightly low carbonation.

Not all that great, it didn't really come together.

This pours an opaque colour of rust with an initial huge head of foam that settles down to aboot an inch and doesn't shrink any more than that. Lacing is pretty awesome.

The wild yeast produces some very notable aromas of Brett and only hints of tartness. Other than that, I get a wee bit of malt and hops.

The Brett is dominant and doesn't relinquish control of this beer's taste profile. That being said, the smallest of malt(sweet) and typical English style hoppiness peek through from time to time. I've had an English IPA with Brett before and I think that one was executed with a lot more finesse.

Pretty light bodied with ideal carbonation.

Decent brew but I think it isn't much of an English IPA. It, obviously, needs more reviews...

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. had a brownish orange color and a cloudy texture. There was a massive, creamy, long-lasting head. Below average lacing.

S: A nice aroma of yeast, malt, and a light hops content.

T: Tasted of a bit of hops, a decent amount of malt, a large yeast element and some citrus notes. The amount of yeast is a definitely a different aspect to the English IPA style, but a welcome one. This is a dynamic and vibrant flavor.

M: A huge amount of carbonation with a prickly finish. Light- to medium-bodied.

O: An unusual take on the English IPA that's well worth a try. Lively and tasty.

Brought back from Spain. It has a copper red color, hazy but see-through with a slight head that dissipates quickly. Very malty scent. It says on the bottle that this was brewed in a highly fermented In an IPA style, but this very malty and lacks much of a hoppy taste. Very fruity and more towArd a grape jolly rancher flavor. Carbonated and light bodied. Interesting metallic taste with a bit of a vegetable taste underneath. Interesting.
