330ml bottle, brewed Aug 2014.

A-brown/amber. Nice thick fizzy white head. Very long lasting lacing.

S-malt base is apparent, with a strong whiff of tropical fruits( lychee and passionfruit)

T- strong nutty and malt taste, with a tinge of caramel. There is a zesty fruity bitterness, but not as apparent as other APAs.

M- medium bodied, high carbonation. Texture more slick than other APAs.

O- an attractive, tasty beer that's more fruity and less bitter than other APAs. The nutty and malt backdrops make a difference too. Highly session able.

Pours orange with good head/lacing.

Smell is big strawberry ice cream, possibly a touch of balsamic vinegar. Herbs, a slight hint of sourness. I always get this unique profile with hopdog- no other beers smell so much like strawberries and strawberry ice cream. A light doughiness.

Taste is more of the same, a malty ice-creamy centre. A bit like a malteser, honeycomb-y in a way.

Mouthfeel has a decent body but also a slick minerality. Not bad.

Interesting beer, definitely carries a lot of the HopDog house profile. I recall it being quite different when I had it on tap. Good as a curio.

Growler straight from the Brewery. Speaking to Tim, the brewer, he advised that it is an all-Motueka Pale Ale. Slightly maltier than the house style and designed to be a little more balanced than what he is famous for.

Pours a very hazy golden colour. There is clearly no filtering going on and the head is small but tight and a nice off-white colour.

Balanced. Slightly sweet malt with the fruity, tropical aroma of Motueka hops coming through clearly. Almost a little earthy.

Malty sweetness and a touch earthy. Some nice fruity character and even a touch of yeast character.

Medium body with moderately-low carbonation. Good.

A solid beer. I do like the difference from the house style but I'd like it just a touch drier to help accentuate a little of the hop flavour. The bitterness is fine at 35IBUs but if it popper just a little it would be a big help.
