The beers at Cervejaria Nacional are all named after Brazilian Folk Tales. The Mula IPA was the best offering in my opinion!! A very good IPA. The appearance was rich copper/amber color with full froathy white head that laced all the way down the glass. The smell was nicely accented with citrus, pine, and spice. The taste was even better. I believe citric hops were used because it definitely has the same bloodlines as 3 Floyds Zombie Dust (my current favorite beer!). There was citrus and pine balances nicely by a spice. The body was nice and full and I was able to drink sveral pints. The mouthfeel was very good and the alcohol was nicely balance by the beautiful flavors.

CN was a great place, great food, and great beer! Hopefully will start a trend for more micros to be established in Brazil.

Nice american IPA of a dark opaque orange color, with a nice and a bit creamy foam.
Somewhat strong citric smell with banana, some hops as well.
The taste is similar and outstanding, quite more hopped compared to the aroma.
The bitterness of this beer is at good level, could be just a bit bigger.
Mouthfeel could be heavier, but is nice too.

On-tap at the source itself, on to the beer:

Another Nacional beer with outstanding, creamy head and great lacing? You betcha. The yellowish orange color however looks to be the dealmaker for a perfect 5 in appearance. This IPA has a gentle hoppiness and some onrage in the aroma, typical of the Brazilian IPA and certainly less intense than the usual American IPA. It's likeable nonetheless.

Caramel sweet base at first, eventually the hops wiggle through the base provide a soft spicy hop note. The beer's texture is quite smooth and very creamy, almost if it were put on nitrogen gas.

A reasonable beer, IPA or otherwise.

Clear amber color.
Aroma a bit too faint for an IPA, with predominance of fruits.
Flavor with a nice growing bitterness with a floral base with citric notes.
Also some strong sweetness from its malt is felt. Aftertaste is dry and bitter.
Medium body with low carbonation and small bubbles. Alcohol is not strongly perceived, although it has 7.5% ABV. More of an English IPA despite its 60 IBUs.
