750 ml corked bottle beautiful bottle and label
A: pours a deep brown almost black 1 inch tan head minimal lacing
S: first smell you get is bourbon. But a bit of dark fruit
T: bourbon cherry plum all mixed beautifully to create a smooth dangerously drinkable beer.
M: full bodied fairly sweet and perfect for a Belgian strong dark ale
O: another spot on beer from Kane. Could be aged - but doesn't need to be with how smooth it is.

Pours a murky, dark brown with a couple fingers worth of foam. Head retention and lacing are OK. Appearance isn't this beer's strong suit. Fortunately, all other aspects are very strong. It starts with an aroma that competes with the finest Belgian dark styles. Lots of overripe dark fruit - plums, raisins, dates. Belgian candi sugar is evident. Some hints of barrel-aging are noticeable in the form of cherry-like oakiness.
Plenty of upfront sweetness, though not at all excessive. Slight bitterness comes in shortly thereafter, but the flavor profile is sweet overall. Despite the classification as a Belgian Dark Ale, this is very much like a quad. Very fruit-forward, with hints of cherry and vanilla from the barrel-aged components. Nothing more than a hint of alcohol, besides the usual warmth you'd expect from a 10+ABV brew. The mouthfeel holds up nicely, with nothing like the overcarbonation of Kane's first anniversary ale. Here, the carbonation is nicely restrained while holding up well over time.
What Kane has done here is craft something that is comparable with the finest Belgian quads. An awesome beer, and a must-try.
