First had: on tap at Brickwall Tavern, Asbury Park, NJ

Well this was a pleasant surprise. Very nice IPA here! Slightly hazy golden-amber color with a well-retaining white head that left layers of lacing on the glass. Nice aroma of fresh hops, citrus and tropical fruit, underlying biscuity malt sweetness. More of the same in the taste, fresh and crisp with citrus hops, tropical fruits, pine needles, good balance of bitterness and biscuity malt sweetness, higher ABV was well-hidden. Medium body, and quite enjoyable, enough for me to go back for seconds. My first beer from Kane, and hopefully not my last.

Appearance: sunny, orange, hazy, white collar, light lace.

Aroma: heavy pineapple, tropical fruitiness, orange, grapefruit, mango, with an assertive pine note.

Taste: tropical fruit sweetness, mangos, papaya, pineapple, orange zest, light maltiness, intense bitterness and linger. Light pine needles on the finish.

***Not quite as drinkable as the Head High. No alcohol could be perceived, but its very intense on the palate. Great flavors and aromas, still. Broken up into sections, the growler was manageable...anything otherwise would have be a chore!

Thanks Jon!

Growler poured into a tulip

A brilliant orange color with a touch of haze. About one finger of off-white foam and some moderate lacing revealing sip marks coats the inside of the glass.

Big piney bitterness leaps first. Grapefruit, papaya, guava, weed, pineapple, and apricot round out a strong nose. A very faint whiff of alcohol and some sweet malt underneath.

Huge simcoe notes throughout this beer. Big piney bitterness from start to finish, with juicy tropical fruit. Sweet malt is low in the mix, pummeled by a huge hop profile. Notes of papaya, guava, pineapple, apricot poke through the middle before a bitter rush of pine resin and ruby red grapefruit in the finish.

Medium body, chewy and resiny. The bitterness on this guy builds considerably with each sip. By the end of my second glass, the bitterness is clinging to my teeth. Definitely an enamel ripper.

This is an excellent DIPA. Reminds me of double simcoe meets ghandi bot with a dose of abrasive. Nice job, Kane.

Served on tap at Cork City Pub in Hoboken, NJ

A: Pours a very lightly hazy golden orange in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and just a touch of deeper orange highlights. The beer has a quarter finger tall thin white head that slowly reduces to a a small to medium patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: There are light to moderate amounts of caramel malt sweetness with stronger aromas of tropical/pineapple, grapefruit/citrus, and pine hops.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate amounts of malts with some caramel sweetness. On top of the malts, there is a strong flavor of hops - citrus/orange zest,

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly sticky with just a touch of dryness in the finish.

O: This is an enjoyable beer but just a bit too sweet for my tastes in the DIPA style - I would definitely get another of these if I came across it again.

the store listed this @ 8.6%... just sayin...

eyes...
frothy white head of about the one finger variety, nice sticky lacing slimes the glass, slightly muddy orange hue, a slightly above average looking sort of thing...

nose...
I could smell this across the room, I am surprised no one else has said how much this smells like weed, I don't even smoke (well, not in a long ass time anyhoo), huge resin-y juicy fruit explosion that makes your mouth water, well... if you love da hops.. and I do, this is bubble gum chewy chew-ariffic, citrus notes lend a nice sour note to the mix. this is up there scent wise for DIPAs in my book, just some really strong unadulterated stuff here.. nice !

taste...
hoppy. duh... a bit of a let down compared to the aroma which was toe curling... this drinks like an extra bitter APA, the malt seems a touch lacking and this really packs a bitter punch, the grapefruit flavors try and sometimes succeed in saving this from turning bad, it manages to really kick you in the teeth with hop power but doesn't destroy your mouth with the aftertaste like many DIPAs, the carbonation is nice and crisp and definitely is a plus here, this pushes the limit of acceptable bitter...

verdict?
I dig it, not my fave but for a local ? please.. I would order this in a hot second out at the local bars, it needs just a bit more balance to be a DIPA killer but as it is ? really good and one of the best smelling beers I have run across in some time.

2nd had: Dry Hopped with Mosaic version
basically close to my above review but it seemed a bit more balanced, very enjoyable
