Special cask release of Odell IPA with passion fruit and orange. Bar-top firkin served Oct. 18th, 2013 at Ed's Bar in Winona, MN.

Poured into a shaker pint. Brilliantly bright hazy orange with a solid finger of frothy white head.

Aroma was almost entirely fruit. Orange zest and passion fruit were obvious, but standard Odell IPA is already citrus bomb. Tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, and lemon zest were all noticeable as well. Slight piney flavor as well as biscuity malts, but those were both buried well beneath the massive fruits.

Flavor is pretty comparable to the aroma: massive combination of tropical fruits. That's really about it.

Wonderful mouth feel, but then again I'm an unapologetic cask beer lover. Medium-bodied with that soft, creamy cask mouthfeel. Firkin good.

Overall this was a great beer, and it made both hopheads and even those who are typically IPA-haters happy. I'll never say no to anything on cask, although I'll admit the infusion of orange and passion fruit is completely unnecessary. What's wrong with beer-flavored beer?
