Bottle at RBSG. Clear pale golden, one finger head, streaky lacing. Yeasty aroma, citrus, lemons peel. Taste has the malt base available, with layers of yeast, citrus and some barrel funk on top.

I rather liked this beer and would get again if given the chance.

Had it from tap,at the local World of Beer. Poured into a tall chalice. Bright orangish yellow color with good head and nice lacing. Fruit, citrus smell. Taste was a pleasantly sour, citrusy and some spice cinnamon in the background. It was refreshing but satisfying to drink. Went well with tacos - always a good thin!

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a deep and clear golden orange . The beer has a small white head that comes and goes with minimal lacing. It almost appears to be undercarbonated from the appearance
S: Smells of band aids, must, orchard fruits, and some pineapple.
T: Taste is band aids and orchard fruits with some slight spice, a little barnyard and must as well along with some pineapple and honey sweetness. hints of apple skin as well. On the swallow there's pineapple, horseblanket, band aids, and more orchard fruits with some lingering white pepper like spice.
M: This beer has a moderate amount of body which is likely due to the soft carbonation. It feels slightly slick and oily on the palate as well. Carbonation is on the low end but it is there while the beer has a slightly drying finish.
O: Overall this beer tastes really good. It's a shame that it's a little on the flat side because what is there is some nice complexity and balance of flavors. I've sat on this one for quite some time and it has held up well. Worth trying if they make it again.

Crazy Bretty. I like Brett, so I rather like it, but it would be polarizing. Lots of funk, cherry, some tartness. Dry.

Reviewing this after a year and a half in the bottle. Exuberant foam on the pour. Delirious aroma of all brett all the time. Apples and the cider press along with a faint breeze from the sheep pen.

I like the sweet pineapply richness of this stuff. It shows off the fruitier side of using Brettanomyces without the urge to sour it up. An amazing sipping beer, like a liqueur with an edge. Some yeasty bitterness at the finish, and a moderate drying sensation.

From the 750 ml bottle. I was lucky to find this one at Susan's Fine Wine & Spirits in Santa Fe. I think it could age some more, and I'm not usually an aging advocate.

Like others have stated, I was hoping for a less-sweet, more pronounced Brett profile. Perhaps aging this for a long time would do it well. That said, I've had this one at cellar temps for almost a year. If you you still see one available for purchase, it might be good to hang onto for another year or more before cracking it open.

I just opened this solo and realized that I'm a turd. This is going to get me three sheets at 10% abv. Whoops.

Cheers!

time has evidently done this some favors, i liked it a lot better this weekend than other reviewers seem to have in the past, so perhaps the brett has developed a bit more in the cellar. interesting beer, being so strong and all, almost reminds me of that elder brett that epic did, except this comes across more as a belgian tripel in base rather than a saison, but the idea of mild brett in a strong golden beer is the same. its actually got a little more color and malt heft to it than expected, more rusty orange than yellow, and super fluffy white lace holds strong on top. it smells only mildly bretty, still less than expected, but more than maybe it had when it came out. the oak balances the sweeter grain in the smell, but not in the taste, its very sweet especially in the finish, honey type sugars suggesting even more time might bring it along even further. i can definitely taste the brett though, which has a farmy weirdness to it, seemingly almost out of place and overpowered in a beer this strong, but also making it very unique. the big carbonation really helps it feel alive, and more like a wild ale, but there is still plenty of body here, which lends some continuance to the finish. not as wild as expected/hoped for, but appreciably different, and very high quality on the whole. i always enjoy these one offs from odell, i just wish there were more of them.

L: Pours fairly clear amber with no head.
S: Brett nose, tart, tangy, orangey.
T: A very fruity palate: tropical fruit, guava, pineapple and a suggestion of mango. Alcoholic and a little on the sweet side. The Brett is there but not big.
F: Medium to medium light body and fairly flat carbonation.
O: This beer has a lot of promise but its flatness, sweetness and light Brett character suggest that it needs more time in the bottle before being released.

Appearance: Clear dark gold. Head is fluffy and bright-white with minimal retention. A few small clumps and a creamy collar persist. Minimal carbonation on the pour. No lacing.

Smell: Brett. Powdery yeast. Mildly fruit. Pear and apple skin. Grass, dirt, and a touch of funk. Bright golden apple. Hints of pineapple. Hints of alcohol on the back. Pretty mellow. Warming ups a sweet malt backbone that doesn't really let go. Caramelized and cooked malt. Alcohol creeps through the back.

Taste: Fresh pineapple and alcohol. Brightly tropical with some solid brett. Slightly grassy with some wheat. More tropical than funky. Pear and apple flesh. Mealy fruit. Alcohol really amps up as it warms. A touch of generic alcohol spice. Malty. Cooked malt with a solid helping of caramelized malt sweetness. Golden delicious apple. More sweet than expected.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with a moderate to light carbonation. No astringency.

Overall: Take 10 points off.

I always hope for great things from Odell's and I'm usually rewarded. Not this time. It's sweet and boozy and not much else.

Cheers to Goblinmunkey7 for sharing this beer

A: Hazy, deep gold with some copper - pours with a thick, medium-sized head, fades to a wispy cap, leaves some streaks of lacing

S: Funk, booze, and sweet malts - funky Brett, with some wet, musty cellar, wet hay - the Brett does not really have its typical dry aroma due to the characteristics of the malts - decidedly sweet, with some pale malts, malt extract, sugar, candy, sweet bread, bread dough - booze is fairly obvious, which may be due to the age of this beer... but it was probably even hotter when fresh - big amount of oak at the end

T: Funk candy - sweet malts are quite prominent - sweet bread, caramel, molasses, candy - nice amount of Brett, with some barnyard funk, musty funk, some general farmhouse weirdness - lots of oak, which tastes oddly sweet because of the malts - boozy - sweet and boozy overall, but it's somehow not a mess

M: Medium to full body, very smooth, medium carbonation, finishes with oak and booze

O: Probably can be aged until 2059

I'm not sure entirely what to make of this beer. It's big, burly, and sweet. It has lots of oak, and lots of booze. But the Brett kind of helps it from being a hot mess. Far from the best Odell has produced, but worth a try.
