Notes/Commercial Description:
The Western Slope of Colorado, just a short trip over the Rocky Mountains, is the perfect place to find new ingredients for an excursion in brewing. Jaunt is a process, or journey, marrying a delicate pale ale with Colorado grown Riesling grapes and aged on oak, just for pleasure. The final blend boasts a creamy malt body, a bright and crisp fruity finish, and just a dash of vanilla from the oak. 7.6%

Appearance - pours with a lot of carbonation, so be prepared! it leaves lots of little bubbles on top of a orangish straw color.

Smell - some earthy straw up front that finishes with some woody subtle flavor. as this one warmed up the grape came out a bit more

Taste - riesling comes out more and more as this warms up. earthy undertones create a nice balance

mouthfeel - very carbonated for sure

overall - it was just missing that knockout punch for me. fun beer and I am sure I will enjoy my second bottle, but at that price point I can find better beers.

This beer has a very grapey nose over light malt, yeast and faint vanilla.
It pours a brilliant gold under a 1” off-white foam cap that slowly dissipates to a thick film but is easily roused and produces good lace.
The beer has a big Belgian palate dominated by yeast driven fruit, grapes, light biscuit, a hint of vanilla, with a reisling and oak note backed by light hop bitterness in the finish. The flavors are deep and complex.
Very creamy, above average carbonation and light bodied for the alcohol and flavor.

Odell Brewing - Jaunt [Ale Brewed With Riesling Grape Juice Age On Oak Staves] (750ml ---> Stella Artois Chalice : 7.6% ABV)

Always having had an affinity for wine before beer, anything brewed with some sort of alliance to wine is something I find myself highly interested in... Though the new world riesling is often not my favorite styling, (These grapes being from acquired Colorado - New world) BEER being brewed in Colorado is something my palate NEVER objects to... It poured a deep golden color with a fair amount of haziness beneath a 2.5 inch head that consisted of moderately large bubbles... It faded decently quickly though, leaving a decent amount of lacing and nice retentive cap... First on the nose is a bit of wheatyness, but then come the soft fruit notes, with tiny hints of oak amongst them as well, no single fruit but also doesn't exactly smell distinctly like with either... It's extremely lively as is glides across your tongue on first sip, and tastes a bit citrusy, almost as if it's reaching towards a belgian ale... The mid palate is definitely where you start to taste the riesling presence as it offers a bold richness to the beer, but enjoyable and far from the realms of too sweet... It finishes extremely smooth with the oak and riesling sticking around for a while after each sip, fading slowly off of the palate... Mouthfeel on the beer suits it swimmingly, it's lighter, which hosts the softer fruitier tastes nicely, but has enough carbonation to make it taste full at the same time... Overall I enjoyed this brew a lot, a great summer ale that offers a delightful mix of flavors for both the wine and beer drinker alike... Another great brew - Cheers!!

L - Pours a golden body with a copper tint and a fluffy two finger head. Great retention.

S - White grape skin, pear, sweet grains and a grassiness element. No oak on the nose.

T - Sweet white grapes and a a farmhouse character all mixed together. Also, biscuit malts and Belgian yeast. Not really any oak to speak of.

F - Light bodied and medium carbonation. Really wet finish and a bit cloying as it warms.

O - It's good for what it is, but nothing really to write home about.

750 ml bottle. Pours clear straw yellow with a big bubbly white head that retains well and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is sweet grape juice, with some musty earthiness.

The flavor is sweet grapes / white wine on a malty body with a dry finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with prickly carbonation.

Overall, it's interesting - tastes a lot like a malty sweet white wine.

Slight hazy pale yellow with fluffy white head, medium collar and thin head that still resides at the surface. Good lacing and legs. Aroma is faint white wine, dry grassy malts, and unfermented grapes too. Taste is more of the white wine than the aroma, a lot more of the grape as well, some lemon too. Light to medium body and highly carbonated.

Pours a semi-hazed gold/pear color with a thumb of ivory colored head. Stays effervescent, great lacing & good head retention

S: White wine & sweet malt, faint pineapple & a little grapefruit rind once warm

T: Pineapple, pears, white grape, persimmons & ever so faint grapefruit up front. A little grainy sweetness as this warms, Honeycrisp apples as this warms, white grape, dryness (Riesling all over the place) & a little bit of lemon too. Finishes super crisp, pineapple notes, a little dryness & some pink grapefruit

MF: Medium bodied, with lively carbonation, skews fruity

Highly drinkable, not always a fan of this wine barrel aged beers, but this one works for me. Didn't floor me, well worth a go if the pricepoint doesn't scare you

Pours a hazy orange, fairly murky and opaque. Dense layer of foam, sticky lace forms delicate drippy patterns in the glass.

Aroma is very yeasty, nebulously Belgian. Not much in the way of oak or grapes.

Taste is vaguely tart with an inkling of grape, creamy and yeasty feel, medium bodied. No real sweetness from the Riesling or vanilla from the oak, though there's a decent beer there. Sort of neither here nor there though. Glad it was shared a few ways, a whole bottle would be a chore.

More often than not Odell seems to promise too much on their labels...
