Some folks refer to the color of fool's gold as brazzle, a radiant hue much like the golden raspberry. A rare find and unique treat, these tiny nuggets are sweet and juicy. Brazzle Sour Golden Raspberry is aged in oak barrels with wild yeasts and 300 pounds of golden raspberries. Don't be fooled by the bubbly light mouthfeel and delicate raspberry sweetness. There's a subtle tartness that is not quite sour enough to make you pucker. But will prickle the back of your tongue leaving a crisp and refreshing finish.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2017 vintage. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge sour/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, peppercorn, leathery/musty/Lacto/Brett funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Amazing aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of raspberries, fruity/acidic/funky/spicy yeast, wine barrels, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, peppercorn, leathery/musty/Lacto/Brett funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and Brett/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light peppercorn/leathery/musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of raspberries, fruity/acidic/funky/spicy yeast, wine barrels, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an amazing malt/tartness, tangy fruit, and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/spiciness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.4%. Overall this is an amazing fruited sour/wild ale! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of raspberries, fruity/acidic/funky/spicy yeast, wine barrels, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/clean/refreshing to drink, with the mellowly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish; nicely soft and not overly lactic for the style. Perfectly balanced between juicy/jammy raspberries, Brett/Bacteria complexity, and wine barrel presence/integration; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A highly amazing offering, and pretty mind blowing style example. Aged wonderfully. Not overwhelming on any aspect.

750ml bottle. 2017 bottling.
Very slightly cloudy apple juice colored body. Slight white head quickly fizzles away. No lacing.
Aroma of tart lemon and semisweet raspberry. There is some yeast funk here too.
Taste of semi tart and semi sweet fruit (lemon and raspberry) balancing against the funk (ranging from rubber to horse blanket). Some oak barrel is expressed also. The funk lasts a little bit longer than anything else in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel. Good carbonation. Slightly dry finish.
This beer expresses a delicate dance with the fruit and the funk, and at the same time allows the expressions of tart and funk to blend together. All expressions are quiet but work really well together. Very pleasant sipper, and allows for the search and savoring for each flavorful component.
