We love blackberries as much as the next bear. So we wondered: what if we used the sweetness of those berries to compliment the saltiness of a German-style sour wheat beer? Our blackberry gose is a balance of tangy and sweet, and as crisp as some of our favorite late summer evenings.

On tap at Old Chicago. Rose colored body with thin head, berries rule the aroma. Overall very light bodied, fruity, taste good, but not up to the par of the aroma.

12 oz. bottle poured into a willibecher.

A- Mix of colors. Rich, deep berry, with nice amber hues. Head is white, extinguishes quickly and doesn't leave any lacing.

S- Classic gose aroma with some tartness, lacto tang, a slight bit of grain, salinity, and all encompassed by some sweet berry.

T- Great tang, and noticeable grain character. Berry flavor finishes sweet and tart.

M- Body is light and tang. Sweetness obviously throughout. Finishes tangy-sweet with a mild dryness.

O- Really nice example of a gose, even with the fruit. The style isn't muddled by the addition of fruit, which oftentimes happens.

Appearance – Clear deep yellow body with a one and a half finger head that stuck around a while.

Aroma – Sour, acidic, blackberries, a little prickly.

Taste – Berries, fruity, slightly sour, almost like a wheat beer.

Mouthfeel – Smooth and very easy drinking. Not too puckering.

Overall – If you’re in the mood for a thirst-quenching sour, this one is very good.

Poured from a 12oz can into glass. Stamped canned on date is '08/11/17 05:27'.
Pale gold/orange colored body. Hard pour results in half finger, white head. Spots of lacing mostly slide back into body.
Sweet berry, slightly tart lemon aroma.
Slightly tart lemon, sweet berry taste, with accompanying salt. Slight spice addition.
Appropriate thin to medium mouth feel.
A summer quencher, tasty but not memorable.

This beer poured from a 12 oz can comes out bright reddish look to it.There is barely any head and no lacing. I remember getting it on bottle last year and the color was a bit more burnt orange. Smell is of blackberries.Taste is still tart like I remember just not as sour as I remember from years past. Very easy to drink beer. Clean finish to the beer . Odell I love your beers but it seems like you tweeked this beer a bit. Still a great beer to relax a summer night to!!

This one is not as sharply tart as I was hoping it would be. After skipping it last year, I tried it again in 2017 hoping it would pop more than I remembered. Sadly, it does not. Light blackberry and not nearly enough saltiness, this one just doesn't stack up to the other fruity gose-style beers out there. And with such a steep price point, I would have to say this one is a definite pass. Shame, too, as Odell's 750ml sour game kills it.

Pours a hazy purple color with a minimal off-white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is fruit. Tastes of salty blackberries. Finishes with a tart bitterness.

This beer pours a clear pale brown-lavender with an average head. The aroma features sour lemon and tart blackberry. The flavor has a low level of sourness, almost yogurt like sour quality, interspersed with a pleasant blackberry flavor and a hint of malt. The mouthfeel is light with fairly small carbonation. Overall this is a delicate and pleasant sour, but it is neither light enough to be a gulper, not complex enough to be a sipper. Good but not great.
