12 oz. bottle shared at PDX BA bottle share, 9.9.11.

One finger pure white head, small bubbles, medium dissipation with decent lacing. Very hoppy nose for style, big floral notes, some malty sweetness in the middle. Taste mirrors nose, one of the most hoppy pilseners I've had, quite tasty. Mouthfeel is medium, real good effervescence, fairly dry finish, though the ABV is fairly noticeable. Another winner from Odell, definitely worth a try.

Clear yellow colored beer with a small white head. Looks like a normal lager.

Smell is slightly skunked with some pilsner malt and a little noble hop.

Starts out dry with a stout noble hop bite. slightly spicy this does get a bit sweeter as you drink it. Bitterness is strong but well balance with the malt. Grassy hop with traces of saffron.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall a tasty Double Pils. Doesn't smell like much but the flavor is nice and it isn't harsh at all.

poured from the bottle into a pilsner glass

A - Pours a perfectly transparent golden blonde. Plenty of bubbles of various sizes vigorously rush to the white, dense, 1-finger head.
Head stays intact all the way down the glass. Leaves behind a nice cobweb of lacing.

S -Lemon zest and herbs with a bit of grassy hops and a hint of sweet malt.

T - Spicy alcohol and buttery malt upfront. The body is a good balance of zesty lemongrass hop notes and buttery malt. A bit of lemon flavor as the beer passes over the back of the tongue with a crescendo lemongrass finish.

M - On the heavier side of medium bodied with high carbonation. Suits the style well.

After having and loving their Double IPA, Myrcenary, I had to try the double pilsner, but swapped half of the 4-pack out for more Myrcenary. Glad I did. While Double Pilsner is a fine beer, it doesn't measure up to the Double IPA. My biggest problem is that the flavor is too buttery without the requisite peppy citrus hop punch I expected. Besides disguising it's ABV of 8.1% remarkably well, there really isn't anything special about this beer, which coupled with the price tag of $2.50 a bottle, is enough to keep me from picking up more of this in the foreseeable future.

amber with a nice cap of white hanging over the top of the glass. Nice rich looking head of foam on the top of the glass here now as well, nicely done I have to say. Aroma immediately is a bit boozy with hints of grass, touches of hops, and a light fruit note that seems to pick up the warmer it gets. Interesting flavor profile as well here. Not at all what I was expecting. Hints of citrus, a touch of herbal, floral notes and a really nice and well laid out malty background.

Got this one in a trade, thanks fortsambo.
Appearance - yellow golden, straw color
Smell - I am used to DIPAs so the nose was a little weak
taste - corn, sorta sweet, not bitter, No alcohol hotness from an 8% abv beer, no aftertaste, a pretty clean taste.
Mouthfeel is really good, frothy, sticks to the back of your throat without a dry finish.
Overall this is my first experience with a double Pilsner but I enjoyed it. Tastes like a very sessionable beer but the 8% abv suggests otherwise. I will let you know tomorrow.

The look of this beer was very promising. I've never had a double pilsner, so I didn't know what to expect, but this has a thin head that is frothy and beautifully stable (although thin). It is perfectly golden and foggy.

Don't get much in the nose. What I can smell has a nice sweet maltiness. It's mild, but nice.

Taste is a bit of a letdown. I know this is a big beer at 8.? but I was hoping for a smoother taste. The alcohol is much too hot and the taste is maltier than I like. I can taste hops but I think more hops could have balanced things out. It blends better as it sits, but I still was a little disappointed.

Really nice mouthfeel. What I was hoping for.

I like this, but it isn't what I was hoping for in the taste department. Still a nice beer by a great brewery.

A: single finger head, a little lace. Gold and slighlty hazy

S: a little sweet with mostly grain and bread

T: bread and herbal up front with a nice semisweet and earthy finish. Not at all bitter.

M: moderate carboation and medium body.

Overall: excellent beer. This may be the best double pils I have tried.

Well balanced mid-bodied imperial pilsner with nice malty tones. I love to have a nice refreshing pilsner every now and then but this one really takes the cake. This has been the first beer I have had the pleasure to enjoy from Odell and overall I am impressed.

Odell Double Pilsner: When buying a four pack for over $10, you expect something special. The Odell Myrcenary Double IPA was great, so I figured I should try their Double Pilsner. Once in the glass, you will see a clear, straw colored body, with a very average head. Nothing to write home about, and you are wondering if money was well spent. But the aroma is fantastic, the head lasts right to the bottom, and the flavor is top shelf. Very smooth, and despite appearances, this is not a light beer. It delivers a sophisticated range of flavor that any serious beer drinker will appreciate.

A - A golden, straw-colored, lightly clouded body. Little active carbonation. The head comes up almost to a finger.

S - Crisp, light bread malts, notes of corn, with a clean, neutral hop tang.

T - I admit, I’m fairly undereducated in the pilsner game, and this is only the second “big” pilsner I’ve purchased. As such, I’m not entirely sure what to be looking for in such a style. This beer seems intentionally understated. Yeasty, reminiscent of sourdough, with a slight bitterness, but no aromatics, from hops. The flavor seems unadulterated, perhaps unembellished. Not grainy, not pungent, just a clean beer.

M - Round, for what it is. A watery version of this beer would be a sour “domestic” pilsner. I’d say they hit a target.

Overall - As stated, I’m just now breaking into imperial pilsner territory. I’m no authority here. This beer falls neatly under the “clean” category - neither spice nor bitterness seems to crop up from malt or Noble hops. The ABV is hidden, but behind what I couldn’t say. My last foray into the imperial pils was fruitier, with a lot of yeast character. This one seems to have a palette all its own. I’ll be sure to edit this review if I get future insight.

appearance - big fluffy head, great retention. straw color, a bit more vibrant than others of the style.

smell - hops, corn husk

taste - big malt coming through, oddly enough. bubblegum and hops. alcohol after two big mouthfeels hits the back of the throat.

mouthfeel - drinkability is crazy for a 8 percent beer. heavy carbonation, medium to heavy body for the style.

poured into a pint glass from the tap at Anodyne bar in downtown Albuquerque.

A- typical for the style. straw with a fizzy white head, with good retention.

S- nothing amazing, similar to corn flakes in a neutral way. some hop bitterness. not too sour.

T- Surprisingly good! the alcohol isn't hot at all, especially for the style. This beer has a unique malt character to it that i was not expecting at all; similar to corn flakes in the good way.

M- light and crisp. nothing more to really say here.

O- i was surprised by this beer's taste profile, but nothing else about is that extraodinary. if you find it on tap, then give it a try, but i wouldn't seek this one out.

A: not surprised here, golden yellow, quite clear, thick white head, lots of visible action as it settles
S: bready malts, with sweet honey, and alcohol, bold and earthy
T&M: clean with grass, wheat, and malt, biting hops yield balance, medium mouthfeel coats the tongue and lingers well
O: Very tasty, great choice for fall, heavy enough to satisfy and warm you up without being overwhelming

A -- A golden brew pours to a three finger white head and settles to a thin skim, leaving patched lacing.

S -- Big round malt sweetness with a toasted grain and some herbal earthy qualities.

T -- Biscuity, toasted malts, a hint of sweetness that is quickly effaced by the herbal hop bitterness and balanced quite eloquently.

M -- Full bodied and moderately carbonated, hefty but even.

D -- Very nice Impy Pils, solid and worth a try and repeat.
