Consumed at a warmer than normal temperature, cellar temp, maybe. Brings out the hop aroma.

Pours a golden orange with streaming bubbles of carbonation. The head is spectacular, three fingers with excellent retention and a cling that shrouds the glass and lacing as long as the beer exists.

Very fragrant piney and citrusy hop aroma. Smells bitter, like pine needles and pine sap, but really well balanced with a touch of sweetness. A tab soapy.

Sharp, bitter hop taste with some grapefruit. Almost too bitter, but it mellows just before the point of over-bitterness. You have to like the bitter beers.

Really nice medium to big mouthfeel, very syrupy and viscous in the mouth, turns silky when turbulated by the tongue. Beautiful!

Very drinkable for a strong IPA. Fragrant and flavorful. This is a fantastic IPA, the way they should be, hoppy and strong. Highly recommended. (879 characters)

12oz bottle sent by scotchboy. Best by 4/4/12, pretty darn fresh.

A: This is a really yellow IPA, it has an orange hue to it but it's mostly yellow. The standard 1 1/4" head forms in a hurry, while falling back down just as fast. Sticky webbed lace coats the glass.

S: These hops came out of the bottle and smacked me in the face as soon as I cracked it open. I'm mainly getting that oily west coast pine aroma here, super fresh pine. Mango and to a lesser extent, other citrus is hanging around in there. This has a sweet honey aroma to it. Light pale malts do their best to stay out of the way.

T: This isn't all that similar to the aroma, it seems more citrusy than piney to me. It is fairly sweet, in a good way, with a juicy toned down orange flavor. Centennial and amarillo seem to be used here, making the flavors mellow and not overdone. Oily pine comes out a bit as I continue to drink. I don't notice the alcohol.

M: Light enough for easy drinking but still a good body. I like that it doesn't feel like sandpaper on my tongue.

O: This one hits the sweet spot for me, it almost reminds me of union jack. Fruity, light pine, lightly sweet, and not so bitter that I get sick of drinking it after 1 or 2. I think it holds it's own against my favorite midwest IPA's.

This guy never sends a bad beer. Thanks Daniel. (1,326 characters)

Poured into New Belgium Globe Glass

Pours a 1 finger pillow top head, slightly off white. Good retention and lacing. Color is a golden orange sunset.

Aroma is of honey and earthy, musky hops, and bready malts.

Taste is pretty good. Very hoppy. The hops are very earthy. Honey flavors and citrus notes are also present. Very zesty taste.

Mouthfeel is very bitter. It seems to be very cold on the mouth, but it was a good thing. It is as if you are drinking ice water on a 100 degree weather day. It leaves a very clean aftertaste for an IPA.

Overall, this is a solid IPA and I wish I would have gotten more of this. It has a great hop flavor and a very clean aftertaste. I definitely think it rates up to two-hearted. (723 characters)

Poured from a chilled 355ml bottle.

Appearance: Slightly cloudy, deep yellow, almost orange colour. Pours with a large fluffy head, which shows good retention. Carbonation seems light.

Aroma: Heavily floral on the nose, with powerful aromatic citric hops.

Taste: Big hoppiness in the flavour, imposing a perfumy bitterness right from the start. There are mild biscuity malts hiding under the hops, providing a little sweetness to balance the hops. Grapefruit also comes through along with hints of lemon. It all ends with a resurgence of the hops, providing a clingy bitter onslaught.

Mouthfeel: Light and crisp on the palete, with a mild carbonic feel, and a kinda greasiness.

Drinkability: This is a superbly crisp and refreshing beer, served chilled it is great for the summer. The balance of flavours is almost perfect, providing a fantastic taste. The hops are potent to say the least, delivering a strong bitterness that is incredibly addictive. I want more! (974 characters)

Big thanks to JamisonM for this extra, i appreciate it a ton.
A - 12oz bottle poured vigorously that gives a deep orange that is slightly hazy maybe chill haze at 46F, slightly off white 1 1/2 finger head that fell to a thin middle and thick ring around the edges that shows a very coarse lace.

A - a very pale toasted malt, then into a fruity aroma of mango, subtle pineapple and pine is in the very back, not the most bold or complex aromatics going on hear, some what typical but decent.

T - whoa big flavor very bold that contrasts the aroma quite a bit in terms of its strength. hints orange peel and a strong pine right jab and game ending grapefruit tyson left hook. very bold flavors although not the most complex, they stand their ground like a fucking spartan though, although flavors of leonidas create this huge presence of muscle the alcohol is very well hidden.

M - medium to light body, almost smooth, medium carbonation, slightly slick.

O - this is a solid beer that i don't see myself seeking out but if were available i would not hesitate, i like the no fucking around with the hops. good brew can't wait for myrcenary (1,141 characters)

Thanks to codewarrior for this one. Great extra buddy!

A- Pours a copper pale golden color with a white tightly bubble two fingered head. Great retention.

S- Floral and herbal hop characteristic with slight pepper notes gives it a nice little kick! Grassy pine with a little bit of a wintergreen/mint thing going on. Has a tinge of tilled earthiness. Malt is like a sticky honey bun.

T- Starts of floral and earthy with a slight peppercorn spiciness. Honey sweetness comes through in the midtones with a biscuit like flavor. Ends with some ruby red grapefruit and lemon zest.

MF- Smooth, clean and crisp. Resiny medium body with some subtle carbonation, spot on.

D- Interesting IPA that goes down smooth. Very drinkable indeed! (732 characters)

IPA – India Pale Ale (7.0%) - O'Dell Brewing Co. (Colorado)
☆☆☆☆

App: Nice floral orange color when held directly to the light, appearing only slightly darker when placed on the table. Massive, rocky, ivory colored head with very good retention and ample lacing.

Smell: Crushing nose of hops hits first, bursting with pine, earth, volatility, and bitter orange. Malt sweetness is there but totally overpowered by the hops. Lively, but not chemical.

Taste: Exquisitely balanced, hops are bombastic but never too bitter. Earthy and piney simultaneously, the foretaste is sweet and present malt, quickly replaced with shocking and clean hops profiles. While there are definitely IPAs with more assertive hop body, few can compare to the overall balance and sessionable characteristics of this brew. Alcohol content is noted, but contributes to the volatility of the hops. Cascade abounds. Both dry and sweet on different parts of the palate.

Mouth: Solidly medium bodied with a robust but round carbonation.

A 12oz bottle with a bottled-on date of July 11th 2012. Picked up from Trembling Madness in York. I've heard good things about this beer, and the label artwork is great.

Poured into a Delirium chalice. A rich golden-amber hue with faint haze and good carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam with good retention; this slowly subsides to a surface layer. Nice frothy lacing. Aroma of fruity hop notes - grapefruit, orange peel, citrus and hay, underpinned by biscuity caramel malt and earthy yeast. Delicious.

Tastes of sharp, citrus-laden aromatic hops with a malty backbone and a powerful bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, bitter orange, citrus oil, grass, mild caramel and dry, earthy yeast. A hint of sweetness and biscuity grain, accompanied by a strident bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, spicy, tingly and dry. Great body. Highly astringent, with an aftertaste of intense aromatic citrus and a hint of malt.

Superb. A top-notch American IPA with tons of aromatic hops, plenty of malt and some serious bitterness. Powerful, yet slides down all too easily. I love the Odell beers I've tried and this is no exception. Well worth sampling if you have the opportunity. (1,204 characters)

Pours a clear amber color with two-fingers of white head that had good retention before eventually settling to a thick cap. Moderate amount of sticky lacing is left on the glass.

The aroma was not as strong as I would expect from an American IPA. I picked up citrus hops with hints of grapefruit. A nice caramel malt aroma as well and overall has a slightly sweet aroma.

Very balanced IPA. Sweet caramel malt, citrus/grapefruit hop flavor, also some resiny pine hops as well. On the higher side of bitterness as well as some alcohol warming.

Nice body and texture. Medium to light body and nice carbonation. Nicely matched.

A nice balanced IPA. Good flavor with out being overly bitter. Refreshing. (702 characters)

Poured from 12 oz bottle to a pint glass the liquid is a rich orange with light but thick carbonation. The head is medium, off white, and leaves ok lace.

The smell is lots of citrus, and some grassy notes.

The taste is good citrus hops along with a bit of earth grass, really a well rounded IPA. The brew is really pretty nice. Good malt and well balanced.

The mouthfeel is also quite good, big body very thick and creamy with nice carbonation.

The drinkability is very good this is a must try brew for the serious IPA lover. Prosit, MK (540 characters)

A) Pours with a nice active head then settles just a bit. Has sticky, big bubble lacing. Copper in color. Visible carbonation. Transparent.
S) Citrus - sweet orange. Just a bit of caramel notes.
T) Malt and hops are balanced well. Starts with a sweet nose, just a bit of caramel. Then transitions to the hops - citrus notes. Orange. Grapefruit. A bit of apricot. Ends with a hop bite and lingering earthiness in the aftertaste.
M) Medium body. Smooth. Some CO2 fizz, but not too much. Some tannin feel.
D) A delicious IPA. Well balanced. True to form. Pour me another! (568 characters)

This is my first Odell... they just came to MN. I'm impressed and am looking forward to trying more after my first sip.

A - Really nice golden color with a 1" head.
S - Hoppy and a little fruity. There's a unique hop smell in this I can't quite place. I like it though.
T - Very good example of an IPA.
M - Just right.
D - Very drinkable. This is going down way too fast. It's my first beer of the day, but still very easy to drink. I'll have to slow down. (457 characters)

Poured from a bottle into a Stone IPA glass. The beer is a hazy, coppery gold color with a nice 3 fingers of persistent white head. Nice dank hoppy aroma. Cut grass, hay, fresh linen, and lemon rind.

Light-medium body with a balanced flavor and a good, firm feel. There are some cereal-like grainy notes up front and herbal, somewhat peaty hop notes at mid-palate. Soft, slightly dry finish with a hint of gooseberry sweetness.

This is an old-school IPA. The focus is on balance. It has a biscuity malt backbone and a pleasant, herbal, tea-like hop character. Recommended. (574 characters)

Served from a 12oz bottle

A- Beautiful straw/gold hue with a nice dense white head, great lacing and nice oily clarity

S-High alpha acid citrus hops dominate the nose with grapefruit and pine tree with some toasted cereal grains lingering in there.

T- The nose carries through well with bright citrus hops. Pine, grapefruit, orange and some mint are up front. A nice toasted malt back bone holds the bitterness in check. Well balanced while still maintaining the hop forward taste.

M- Good silky mouthfeel with a good amount of gas to keep it light and lively.

D-For a reasonably big beer it drinks fairly easy. (617 characters)

Pours a clear, dark golden color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of hop oils, citrus, slight sweet malt, and slight earthiness (nuts). Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of hop oils, sweet malt, slight yeast, and citrus. Overall, a good blend, aroma, body, and appearance. (387 characters)

On tap at Stub and Herb's the other day. This was one of the better IPA's I sampled during my brief stay in the twin cities.

The beer pours an impressive IPA orange amber color with impressive, pillowy head retention and considerable sticky lacing. The nose is likewise impressive, showcasing considerable orange citrus and pine. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, but the alcohol level in this beer seemed to impart an almost thick tasting texture that I really liked. Also, this beer delivers plenty of flavor in a dry, very west coast in style of IPA. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a long, citrus, bitter finish. Drinkabilty is quite good, with the alcohol very well integrated into the flavor profile... I could easily pound down several of these at a sitting.

A very well crafted IPA... (816 characters)

Appearance: Honey color, white head that dissipates to a thin layer with good lacing.

Smell: Big hop aroma. Citrus notes come through first. Grapefruit for the most part. Bittering hop aroma in the background. Not much on the malt front.

Taste: More of the bittering hops come through than the grapefruit.

Mouthfeel: Thin and dry. Slightly bitter. Good amount of carbonation.

Overall: Not a bad brew at all. Very solid execution, bottle dating, decent price point, good availability in my state as well. Give it a shot if you haven't had a chance! (553 characters)

This beer pours orange with gold undertones, bright clarity and a bit of a fiery glow. A fat head of foam that lasted and clung steadfast to the sides of the glass. The head never quite fell completely and left a thickish layer on top. Nose is bright with orange and tangerine sweetness. Big citrus and plenty of herbal. The body of the beer is smooth and supple and the carbonation doesn't show itself on the palate until the swallow. There is plenty of hop oil but it doesn't feel heavy or oily and that oil brings out the orange peel sweetness. Biscuit malt that's lightly sweet . The bitter on this one is substantial and a bit sharp but it doesn't outdo any of the taste. Finishes earthy, herbal and dry. Delightful. (721 characters)

Best by 10/23/13, assuming pretty fresh.

A- Two inch white head on a light orange body. Head is dense and is leaving heavy/splotchy lacing as I type this. Average head retention, cap and collar throughout.

S- Aroma is of juicy citrus, oranges specifically. Perhaps some mangos.

T- Sweeter (not as dry) than most IPAs. A pungent citrus hop twang at the end of each sip. 7%abv fits here to me.

M- Full mouthfeel. Small carbonation bubbles, on the lower end...works well.

O- A solid IPA if nothing else. If this was around here I could see me picking up a few 6 packs a year. Thanks for the mountain region tick RuckusDu! (623 characters)

Pours a cloudy orange toned gold with a creme head. Nose is tight citrus. Seems like pineapple juice. Flair is acrid, bitter, and slightly salty. Citrus tones are well in the back as an almost afterthought. Feel is smooth on liquid with a just as smooth carbonation. Pretty nice IPA. A bit rough though and might overpower some peoples interest. (345 characters)

The IPA from Odell is quite nice. The beer poured a clear orange with thin with head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent carries orange peel with touches of pine. The taste is bitter through until the end when a malt sweetness kicks in. The mouthfeel is medium in body with a resiny touch. The carbonation is smooth. Overall this is a solid IPA and certainly worth a taste. (376 characters)

A: pours a slightly hazy orange-gold with two fingers of off-white bead that fades into a dense cap with decent lacing.

S: floral and citrus hop aromas dominate, especially pineapple and grapefruit. There are also some sweet bubblegum-like aromas.

T: the hop characters here are more earthy with grapefruit, pine, and grassy notes domimating. The finish is of tart grapefruit and only slightly bitter.

M: medium body with mid-low carbonation, this beer could use a bit more carbonation or a lighter body.

O: a good IPA overall with lots of nice hop aromas and flavors. (572 characters)

Picked up a bottle in Pocatello, ID on 9.4.12
Dated 11/17/12A

A - Pours a clear medium to light orange with a nice cream colored head that is very foamy, has good retention, and leaves lots of lacing on the glass.

S - Lots of pine and grass. Some sweet citrus as well.

T - Again nice pine and citrus with more of a sweet biscuity orange. Very smooth.

D - Great carbonation and body. Thank you bottle dating! No bitterness at all, very smooth.

O - A really tasty ipa. I am glad to have found it out here. This is not a good beer town, so finding some Odell beer was nice. (579 characters)

thanks to Buebie for gifting this one to me in a recent trade.

a- pours a slightly dull looking yellow/orange color. shows nice clarity with a persistent white head.

s- big citrus hits the nose hard. great vibrant lemon and orange peel notes. it's almost hard to define anything else, besides a bit of lingering sweetness and some floral notes. the citrus steals the show and I'm on the edge of my seat to see what happens next.

t- an unusually unique IPA. the bitterness is light. that combined with a good amount of sweetness almost turns this one into a mixed citrus fruit juice beverage. a substantial amount of sweetness mixes with orange, lemon, and big grapefruit flavors. it's rare that I think an IPA is unbalanced sweetness wise, yet it still has some great citrus notes. the low bitterness mixes with a bit of pine and biscuit malts in the finish.

m- great body for an IPA. not letting that 7.0% go to waste. a nice crisp carbonation and a bit of slickness. a pleasant smoothness to this puppy.

d- a good one for sure. not overly hoppy and no alcohol to be found. it's a shame this is my only bottle. more Odells please (1,137 characters)
