Pour - glowing orange and yellow in color. Wow, very vibrant display with a big stark-white, fluffy, dish soap-like head.

Aroma - floral hops, citrus, mint, mango, powdered sugar and some pineapple as well as pine tree.

Taste - great displays of hop bitterness accompanied with tropical fruit, citrus, pine and a nice sweet malt backbone. All the components of a solid American IPA are there. When this is fresh its absolutely incredible.

Overall - one of the better everyday IPAs available. Lots of fresh hop flavor and the right amount of mouth puckering tongue drying hoppiness to go along with the solid malt back.

Would I buy more of it? - absolutely. If only I lived out west...

Poured from 12oz bottle into Tulip.

A. Poured a 1 1/2 finger head. Thick lacing. Good retention. Color is orange gold.

S. Smell is bitter hops. Nice cross of piney and citrus hop smell. Has a more biscuity then caramel malt smell that plays nicely with the bitter hop aroma.

T. Nice bitter hop profile. Biscuity malt taste lies beneath the hops. Odell's IPA is unique to me in the fact that it tastes like a combination of piney and citrus hop flavors.

M. Medium bodied. Lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation.

D. Very drinkable. This is a great beer to stay with for the night or with food. This is one of my top 10 regular IPAs.

Coming out of the bottle this looks like a clear egg yolk color, when held up to the light in my glass though it has a copper looking color with a one inch creamy looking head that stays on the edges of the beer. Lots of big bubbles stay a top of the beer with nice soapy lacing clinging to the glass.

Smells like ripe fruit. I always get that strong grapefruit smell, some honey, lemon, Pine, musky earth like smells(fresh dirt), wet hay. I always like the smell of IPAS.

Taste is a little less flavor full then the smell. I get mainly an upfront slightly bitter taste with some pine, honey, this evolves into some bread like malts and a semi-sweet finish.

Mouthfeel is a little on the bitter side(not extreme)with good amounts of carbonation. Like someone else said, leaves a crisp clean aftertase.

Reasonably price and good flavor makes this have good drink ability.

Excellent, workhorse IPA with a nice, pungent hop nose, a dollop of citrus too, and a nice, piney bitter palate with enough malt sweetness to tie everything together. Workhorse indeed.

12 oz bottle poured into a globe glass

A-- Poured a slighty orange yellow color. Nearly clear, as just a small bit of haze. Short lived bright white head. At best one finger. Same on swirling.

S-- Candied orange, candied pineapple and good pine background. Lovely nose.

T-- Slick and oily taste. More about orange, pineapple, and mango. More it warms the more the pine bites back.

M-- Creamy, lots of pine and grapefruit bitterness. No oily taste in the mouth though. More in the taste though.

O-- Excellent IPA. Very drinkable and can have a few easily. Not massive bitter but complex and well rounded.

The pours is mostly clear and a pale golden color with a full finger foamy white head that resists fading. A fair amount of lacing left behind. The smell is aggressive grassy, piny hop with a resin character. Adequately carbonated, the mouth feel is primarily tangy from the hops and the piny character lingers in an oily resin texture. Full flavored, the taste is a real shot in the arm. The pine grapefruit flavor is quite refreshing. The 7% ABV is integrated well. A real nice drinker. Thank you drumrboy22 for the opportunity to sample this one.

Appearance: Cloudy golden amber, with impressive head of off-white suds and gorgeous lace.

Aroma: Bright floral hops! Very lovely aromatic, perfumed hops character already.

Taste: Sharp, bitter citrus hops with plenty of floral and tropical notes (mango, pineapple). Very well-balanced with the malts providing counterpoint to the bitterness. A superior IPA, even within a couple of weeks of it’s ‘best by” dating. I am impressed and will buy again. Just wish I could get these in Indiana!

12 oz. courtesy of LSUPT.

A lot of Odell's beers have very similar appearance. I just had a 5 Barrel Pale Ale just before this and they are almost identical in appearance. This is slightly less murky. Good 2 finger off white head that reduced to a white film on top. Good intricate lacing throughout.

Smell is of hops, citrus, grapefruit, hops, and hops. Very nice smell.

Taste is definitely of some simcoe hops. It also has some crisp grapefruit and floral flavors.

Mouthfeel is very smooth. Lightly carbonated for the style. Extremely drinkable.

Would love some more of this. A very enjoyable IPA that is perfect for my midday drinking habits. Had this at 2 PM during a Dodgers game. Cheers!

This is a great beer in a sense that you can get it anywhere here in Arizona. I am glad I am able to buy this on a regular basis and I believe it is a good tasting beer that you can have on any occasion. Might I add this is very affordable.

Taste: Has an awesome hop taste, the one im drinking imparticular must have been a tad older, but still held proper hop characteristic

mouthfeel: has your IPA mouthfeel, pretty damn awesome and is the perfect between creamy and light mouthfeel.

aroma: Like I said this was probably an older bottle, but overall the smell is good. Citrus *like armarillo hops*

overall: This is a great beer for someone to experience. This is something they brew all year round that offers a very citrusy and partially balanced IPA. It has some alcohol content to get you feelin good which is always good, but you don't get that crazy burn from the beer. I fully recommend it if you haven't tried it and for $9 a six pack, can't be beaten.

Pours a murky amber color with two fingers of a nice sticky white head.

Scent of bitter hops and caramel initially, some maple syrup and sugars. A nice hop presence, but balanced nicely.

Taste of dank citrusy hops, earth, sugars, and some caramel. Damn good beer, I would like it more if there was a strong hop character though.

Mouthfeel is light bodied with a nice strong bite of carbonation.

Its got that good looking pour, lots of bubbles, big fine white head. Under that great looking head is a golden hazy concoction. Has some good lacing. Not a great aroma, kind of a yeasty, old beer smell. Very nice taste! Bitter! Hop essence. Floral. Now it smells a lot like the hop taste. Noticeable tart citrus as well. I find this very drinkable. Well done! I would absolutely buy this if I could.

041908 punched into label. Bottle conditioned evident; yeast sedimented on bottom of bottle.

Poured into the Stone IPA specialty glass. Deep golden color with a little of cloudiness from the yeast. Boasts large frothy foam on top. Aggressive lacing as you consume this beer. Medium to high carbonation.

Hops are bight and aromatic and take the reigns on your olfactory. Intense and resinous with grapefruit and fresh cut grass in front and a bit of a soapy aroma in the end.

Bitterness is smooth and balanced with malt flavors. Hops contribute a nice floral taste. While being at the high end of the alcohol spectrum of the style, any such flavors a extremely subdued.

A bit on the thin side, I prefer a bit more unfermentable sugar in the finish; could withstand a bit more body/mouthfeel. A great everyday IPA...

Review from notes 2/6/11. Thanks to forgetfu for this one!

A: Pours a clear golden color with a solid one finger head. Nice retention and lacing.

S: Nice clean aroma, very grassy and citric. Also some hints of pine.

T: Similar to the aroma with the grassiness. There is some light citrus (orange peel) and a candy sweet finish.

M/D: Medium bodied with nice carbonation. Very easy drinking, a solid example of the style. The 7% is hidden very well.

BB date of 12/12/15. Pours a nice filtered amber color. I don't find this strikingly hop forward like West Coast IPAs but definitely a solid IPA. Aroma of pine and citrus with a similar taste except I pick up add'n hints of fruit like peach and maybe mango. This beer improves as it warms up. Its well balanced and not overly bitter or sweet.

Poured into a pint glass.

3.5 A: Nearly clear golden yellow/light orange color. One finger of creamy white head with pitiful retention, but some splotchy lacing.

4.0 S: Really pungent hops. Something almost musty. Simple, but pleasant. Malts don't really show up to the party.

4.0 T: Moderate bitterness. Earthy and herbal hops are the showcase. Again, malts really don't do much, just a neutral barebones base and that's okay because it works well. Otherwise, very clean. Alcohol isn't noticeable at all.

4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Super smooth throughout. Moderately creamy.

4.5 D: Simple, clean, and super smooth. Not the most exciting drink, but it's a nice, moderate alcohol brew. Again Odell shows me that simple works just as well as big and complex.

I have been drinking this one from a six pack and it is only barely ok, maybe skunked a little or not as fresh as it should be.
Anyway on tap in Fort Collins saved this day.
this ipa is a nice light amber with light lacing and a sheet of barely off-white head that stays the whole way down.
the smell tells very well of the taste with citrusy to pin hops, like if clementines could grow on a baby pine tree. all around the sides of this dainty tree is light caramel malt to keep the tree standing and on balance. there is just a hint of alcohol in the smell, which is not a bad thing with 7%abv

similar the taste is big rather full with these hops caramel malt. the carbonation is just right to make it crisp clean and with a bit of silk.

way too drinkable for the quality of taste and abv. MUCH better on tap, all afternoon drinkable.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Best by 12/05/12C.

A - Dark amber body with one finger high off white head. Thick lacing and retention.

S - Peach juice dominant with some pine and very sweet malts. Somewhat grassy and grainy.

T - Great balance of flavors. Equal does of peach, citrus, pine, and grass with a light bitterness. A little bit of crackery and sweet malt on the finish. Only deterrent here is the alcohol is noticeable. Mouth feel is medium bodied with nice carbonation.

O - A very nice IPA. I can feel the alcohol a tad, but the flavors and aromas are very nice and hoppy. Reminds me a lot of Firestone Walker Union Jack but with some grassy notes.

Rich and fruity hoppy ale.

Nice amber color in the snifter. Lots of malt with a rush of hops to fill the nose with pine and flowers. Makes me think of the scent of iris. Pleasant in the mouth and well carbonated. Hops are very aromatic, with long bitter taste. Bit of pineapple and sour apples.

Aroma is quite outstanding and keeps the sipping interesting. Very bitter, but not into the abusive zone. A clean and well make example of the style.

12oz bottle, best by Dec 1, 2011. Served at around 45F.

Pours ever so slightly hazy golden amber with a nice large white foamy head that recedes to a rocky island and leaves nice spotty lacing behind.

Aroma is very strong on pineapple along with good citrus and floral notes, bread & caramel malt also quite present. Very good strength. Nice nose! Reminds me of Founders Double Trouble.

Flavor is pineapple, resinous hops, some tropical fruits, orange and grapefruit citrus, a sweet caramel malt backbone in the middle, finishes with fair bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy and a tad oily, good carbonation.

Fantastic IPA. Incredible nose. Flavor falls just a tad short of the aroma but still very good. Would buy this on the regular if it was available in my area.

Pours with expected body. Two fingers of head that dissipates slowly leaving TONS of lacing. Low foam residual but shimmering. Lots of fresh hops used here. Pale amber. Pils malt? Low carbonation.

S - HOPS. American varieties. Citrus and floral. Low earthy. Some piney. Well balance across malt. Some toast but hard to detect.

T malty body that rounds well with a ton of hop flavor, again American with the citrus and Northwest. Biting bitter at the front of the tongue.

MandD sharp but very pleasant. Hoppy bitter aftertaste but nit at all harsh. Lingering.

Great crafting and well done with keeping the body of the beer up. A touch too pale. I would make this one a staple in my beer cupboard.

Orange-honeyed color, lightly veiled. Quite good white foam.
In the smell a very fresh hop, with tangerine, and some piney. Sweet, fresh, good.
In the taste, after a honeyed and relatively sweet start, a quick following fresh hop, tangerine and pine. A perfect balance.
Same notes in the aftertaste, with sweet notes, honey and tangerine, and a plesant bitter grapefruit and resin finish.
Quite good body, long aftertaste.
One more, please!

12 ounce bottle- pours a light orange/yellow with good clarity. Minimal head, some soapy lacing. Aroma- very ripe tropical fruits (mango, pineapple) with some bready sweetness. Taste- good blast of hops in initial sip, same earthy, meaty fruit flavour. Malt profile is balanced well with the hops providing a background sweetness to counter the bitterness. well balances. Body is on the light side with the beer drying out in the finish leaving a citrus fruit rind taste. Has a mineral undertone on finish which is somewhat out of place. Carbonation is pretty much spot on for style. Pretty darn drinkable

Clear amber colored ale with a medium sized white colored head.

Smells strongly of citrus. Smells mostly of grapefruit. Some pine board scent. Faint cinnamon and sandalwood.

Starts out mild with a lot of caramel taste. Slight pine board taste. Citrus taste and mild bitterness, this isn't a hop head IPA.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall an easy drinking IPA that won't whip your tongue in to submission.

Really impressive fluffy head that stuck around until the glass was gone. The lacing looked very pretty. Hazy golden color.

Smelled of nice and subtle floral hops.

The taste was very balanced. Not too hoppy which was an awesome 'surprise' you could say from an IPA. This made this brew ridonk drinkable (and quenched me nicely after going for a run heh heh).

Goes great with beer brats! (used coors light for boiling - only the best)
