12 oz bottle. Pours a nice crisp medium gold colour, showing nice lacing and film, moderate carbonation.

Smell is full of pungent fresh hops, fruity grapefruit and slight resin. A floral character, very lively. Potent, complex, interesting.

Taste has grapefruity hops, a light viciousness. Plenty of fruitiness and hop character that only really gets bitter on the end, malts mostly subdued, finishes really cleanly, pine and hop bitterness. A really nice all round flavour, delicious.

Mouthfeel is luscious, carbonation is at a great level to show off the beer and give a full pleasing feel, dry and peppery on the end.

A delicious West-Coast IPA that is quite hard to find fault in. Really crisp and satisfying, hops are great and quite well balanced, drinks very well. (775 characters)

Pours a light amber gold color with a big bubbly creamy head. Very good appearance, but nothing to push it over the top.

Smell is awesome, so much citrus and floral hop aromas, very nice smelling IPA.

Taste is bitter up front, like an American IPA should be, followed by a nice citrus, grapefruit, floral and pine flavors. Light bready malts also come through.

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, very nice for the style. Medium carbonation and medium body.

Very drinkable beer, one of the best examples of the style out there. (527 characters)

A- Light golden yellow with a white head and excellent lacing

S- Wow. Grapefruit, hint of lemon and orange, with a sweet pine smell

T- That citrus hoppiness right up front, into a medium to soft bitterness and a hint of malt. Delicious

M- good carbonation, crisp

D- Very drinkable, smooth and refreshing. Even with the hoppiness I found it very well balanced. (363 characters)

Obtained this beer via a trade with BA Minterro.

Poured the bottle into a pint glass

A: Vibrant color with a quick dissipating head

S: Really liked the smell, very tropical

T: Hand in hand with the smell. I really enjoyed it, hoppy and strong citrus notes

O: Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. A great smell and taste with strong citrus and hoppy notes. Really excited to drink more of these west coast beers. (416 characters)

Got this as an extra! Thank you you-know-who!

A: Burnt orange color, 2 finger head - good retention, good amount of lacing, beautiful looking!

S: Hops, grapefruit, citrus

T: Mostly hops, grapefruit, citrus, very refreshing - reminds me of Zombie Dust, not too sweet, not too bitter (still has a good slight bitter finish). Perfect for summer! Not much lingering taste afterwards though.

M: Good amount of carbonation, very drinkable.

O: It caught me by surprise. This was my first Odell, and I am very impressed! Great beer to have (although not really a session beer) out back, when it's sunny out. (604 characters)

12oz bottle into a pint glass
Best before: 5/2/14 (must be super fresh)

Thanks to fatbeats18 for sending this one over in a trade

A: Pours a crystal clear dark golden amber with 2 fingers width of slightly off white colored head which has good retention and leaves lots of lacing.

S: Huge tropical fruit and citrus notes with orange/tangerine and pineapple. Some sweet malts, juniper and pine. Wonderful.

T: Lots of piney bitterness along with some citrus rind, lemon zest and orange peel. Not really the tropical fruit notes that were on the nose but still a great hop profile. Firm malt backbone to balance things out.

M/D: Full bodied, fairly smooth, carbonation moderate maybe a touch too high for my preference, drying on the finish, drinkability is great.

O: Top notch IPA. One of the best Ive ever had. (819 characters)

Pours a clear amber with a white head that settles into a long-lasting cap. Good lacing. Aromas of citrus, biscuity malt along with some floral notes. Flavors of juicy tangerine with hints of biscuit that finishes just slightly bitter. One of the best tasting IPAs I've had! Medium bodied with light carbonation. Overall, this might be one of the best west-coast IPAs out there. It's certainly the best one I've had to date. (424 characters)

1.5 finger thick foam head with excellent retention and nice lacing on a murky crimson with golden hues body. As pretty as they get. Aroma is excellent as well with citrus, hops, pine and floral notes. The flavor is hop heavy as well with floral, citrus and earthy notes. This one gets better and better as you drink it. Semi dry in the finish. medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall it isnt quite perfect in the flavor and I prefer a less dry finish in my IPA, otherwise one of the best IPAs out there. (510 characters)

it has a medium mouthfeel but very crips mouthfeel
tastes of very citrus spicy hops and is balanced very well

Poured a gorgeous cloudy orange color with golden highlights and a half-finger white head. Fantastic. Scents of pungent herbal hops, pine resin, lemon zest, orange flesh, tropical fruit and tangerine. A wonderfully hop forward aroma bursting with notes of fruit, dank hops and pine. Excellent. Flavor begins with a nice hop forward flavor with notes of pine resin, dank vegetal, herbal hops, lemon zest and juicy tangerine flesh with medium-high bitterness and light, balancing pale malt sweetness. The middle continues flavors of dank, vegetal hops and pine resin, with some juicy tangerine flesh and grapefruit peel. Finish is medium-dry with notes of pine resin, dank, vegetal hops, grapefruit peel, orange peel and orange blossom with medium bitterness. Aftertaste is pine resin, grapefruit and orange peel and a slight grainy malt. A very nice, hop forward, balanced, and very complex. Wonderful. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with medium-light carbonation and a slick, oily smooth feel. Very nice and quite pleasant. Overall this is an excellent IPA that displays a wonderful hop profile in both aroma and flavor and has a fantastic mouthfeel. An amazing IPA. (1,168 characters)

Snagged a few in CO on a drive across country. Looks like a best by date of 11/2013

Pours a lovely golden orange with clean white head, mild visible carbonation

Aroma- fragrant pink grapefruits and tropical fruit, strong green herbal presence, chewy malt

Taste- follows nose. Sweet, bitey citrus with pink grapefruit zest and orange, some tropical fruits (light mango, passion fruit), herbal spice and a touch of pine with pale and caramel malts. Finishes with some herbal spice, orange and grapefruit zest

Feel- standard west coast IPA (great)

Well I picked up a bushel of various Colorado beers that I don't typically see on either coast, and I'm going to assume that they all will have trouble beating this brew. Fantastic IPA, delicious and layered hop presence that isn't too abrasive. (796 characters)

Appearance: Bright yellow glass holds a fluffy white finger of foam that lasts and laces.

Smell: Rich hops speak west coast grapefruit, pine tar, and floral notes with little hints of sugary base.

Taste: Generally clean, hop flavors slowly build up to a satisfying bitter that keeps a lot of the citric fruity notes that I really like. The base is a bit of sugar cookie dough that lets the hops do their thing.

Mouthfeel: Prickly carbonation in a medium heavy glass that is a bit oily.

Overall: Solid IPA! Great west coast citric flavor, nothing distracting from the full hop flavor that manages to bring volume without going bitter or burning. A great slow sipper with a lot of bang for the buck. (701 characters)

From a single bottled about a month ago into a Great Divide Cervoise

A: Clear golden orange, big 3 finger puffy white head, good lacing
S: Huge (for an IPA) pungent hoppy mixture of tangerine-like citrus (both juice and rind), pine, flowery notes, with the bready caramel malty sweetness struggling to keep up.
T: Like the nose...really strong flavors but I go back and forth about whether the different hops t harmonize quite as beautifully as promised by the nose. This time I'm saying "not quite" but last time I had this I thought it was almost ideal. Regardless, great fun to taste and drink, with great combination of bright citrus, dank earthiness, sharp piney notes, and a very pleasant but not overpowering bitterness.
M: sticky, medium carbonation, zesty but creamy, pleasant bitterness and dryness.

Overall: These guys know their way around many different beer styles, and like their other styles, the IPA is a beaut. Delicious! (946 characters)

Odell produces one of the best Colorado IPAs available, and there's no debating it. It is a classic American IPA, delivering all the bitterness, finish, aroma, and punching flowers one could hope for in an IPA. I don't understand the nay-sayers. Odell does it well as almost anyone else. (287 characters)

Great thick head that sticks with the beer low into the glass. Amazing smell that is distinctly IPA. Great flavor and a great place to start for any beer drinker to get into IPAs. Bitter enough to let you know there are definitely hops there but not too bitter to put one off from exploring the rest of the IPA range out there. 4.5/5 (333 characters)

Pours a clear gold/light amber with a sizeable white head. Superb aroma - absolutely love it! Definite citrus (tangerine, grapefruit) and very hoppy. Taste - bitter, dry to the end. Head diminishes, but lacing strong through the finish. Fantastic IPA and would definitely buy again - Cheers! (306 characters)

From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume II, Issue VI:

The marketing is straightforward, they took the IPA style and made it bolder or American-style, and at 7.0 percent it's nearing the border of Double IPAs but not quite there. Clear weathered golden color, bright clarity and excellent head retention from the two-fingered head that crowns the top of this brew. Big time citric hop aroma and tangerine and clementine juice, with mint and herbs in the back of the nose. Impeccable smoothness from a deep, underlying carbonation that is most likely being slowed by a ton of hop oil. Medium body. So much hop flavor to go around, thankfully the bitterness does not kill the taste buds. Orange zest and spearmint come to mind. Sure the malt is there, a solid biscuity and slightly sweet foundation that is covered with hop flavor. Slightly dry and bitter finish with a faint earthy, herbal flavor.

Odell Brewing does a superb job brewing this beer, this one gives most West Coast IPAs a run for their hops. A must try for any hophead out there. (1,038 characters)

Bottle into a pint glass
A - A clear deep gold/light bronze, with a creamy looking 2 finger head that had good thick retention, great lacing start to finish 4.5
S - Clementine/grapefruit & hops front and center, with slight pine/grasses/floral 4.5
T - Mellow smooth taste experience, surprising finish for me was not the hop bitterness I expected, definitely an IPA but Odell has done a n excellent job balancing the hops/malts 4.5
M - A medium to heavy body was much more substantial than I expected, really nice level of carbonation 4.5
D - This very good brew has an inherent smoothness to it that ups the drinkability factor greatly, an IPA for my best of list 4.5 (668 characters)

Pours a nice golden amber color. Small head.

Smell is of piney hops, and slight citrus.

Taste is a battle between nice floral, resiny hops and bright, crisp, grapefruit citrus hops. Resin/piney hops wins out to mellow into a nice creamy finish with a slightly lingering hop flavor.

Mouthfeel is rich for an IPA. Good balance between crisp and a slight creaminess.

Love this beer. (385 characters)

Poured into a tulip. Rocky, 1.5 finger white head that provided good lacing. Golden, semi-hazy body.

Smell was citrusy, floral and piney. Good amount of grapefruit as well. Subtle malt profile. A fantastic smelling IPA.

Taste had lots of tart grapefruit bitterness. Slightly piney and resinous. Good citrusy flavors, mild malt sweetness to provide enough backbone to make this one not overly bitter.

Mouthfeel had a light/medium body with good carbonation.

Drinkability was good as well. Good bitterness with a subtle sweetness hides the 7% very well. Doesnt leave any harsh lingering bitterness.

Overall this is a very good IPA. Good, mild, bitterness and great hop flavor and aroma while still being sweet enough to enjoy these back to back. (766 characters)

I was excited to see this new offering from Odell Brewing. I've been waiting for an IPA from them for a long time!

This is definitely my new session IPA! The beer pours a beautiful, dark amber color, with a nice lace that lasts until the beer is gone. I immediately thought "grapefruit" when I first sipped, as the citrus notes really hit me. Nice and hoppy, not too malty-- perfect IPA.

Thanks to Odell for brewing a highly drinkable IPA! (446 characters)

This is an IPA that really stands out, while also perfectly representing it's style. It's not overly sweet, fruity, or bitter. Full of citrus flavors like orange peel and lemons, with complimentary floral and herbal notes , complimented by malt sweetness. If i had general access to this beer it would surely be a consistent repurchase. (336 characters)

A – I like the dull orange color of the beer...foam on the head disappeared after a few minutes
S – The first smell is the hops...a bright citrusy aroma...can’t really smell the malts behind it but that’s fine for this beer.
T – the hop flavor doesn’t knock you over, very smooth and lingers with you in a good way...no shuddery aftertaste. Slight sweetness of the malts show up long afterwards...if you can wait long enough between sips.
M – velvety smooth with small bubbles
O – This is a great balanced beer with nice citrusy flavors and a great overall taste (578 characters)

A - Aggressive pour! Nice white foamy head. Brew is nice clear orange with some amber and lots of yellow. Great lacing.

S - Awesome citrus! One of the best I've ever smelt. Lots of pineapple, lemon, and slight yogurt scent...

T - Delicious! Great smooth aggressive lemon with lots of dry pineapple and pine smothering your taste-buds.

M - Perfect carbonation! Awesome dryness and balanced bitterness. Nothing is out of proportion.

O - Definitely one of my few go-to brews... Always awesome and refreshing! A must try, if you're able. (539 characters)

P: Thanks to Heather and Dave for bringing me back an Odell Brewing Co. variety six-pack from Fort Collins!

Odell Brewing Co. has my current vote for best package design, with detailed hop leaf relief circumnaviagating the shoulders of the bottle, beautiful label and neckband illustrations, and tasty typography. This label depicts a bronco-bustin' pachyderm. Ready to buck convention?

A: Nice pffft! when opened. Pours a clear, pale copper color with a massive, three-finger head with bodacious retention and eye-popping lacing.

S: Citrus hops aplenty, with hints of pine oil and sweet herbal grass.

T: Take a sweet, caramel malt foundation and bombard it with waves of lingering hop oil tang. Toss in big notes of grapefruit zest and pine. Active carbonation comes out to play throughout the session. Dry, bitter finish.

Robust, but not a hop bomb by any means - you can actually savor the interplay between hops and malts, as well as distinguish the character of this IPA between hits of bitterness. Great balance, this one.

M: Super-smooth. Carbonated, yet glass-like. Light to medium-bodied.

D: Superb drinkability. Well done, Odell! (1,149 characters)
