Poured from a 12oz bottle. Nice label and designs in the glass. Pours a orange-golden color and retains a thin white head with good lacing.

Sweet and crisp hoppy smell. Detected what almost smelled like sweet tarts at first sniff, but that has faded.

Sweet hoppy taste as well. Has a crisp hop bite which is nice.

Light in the mouth and the hops make a good feeling on the roof of my mouth.

I would drink several of these and want to try it on tap.

12 oz bottle poured into an imperial pint glass. Moderate egg-shell white head stands a fingers width. Nice spider-web lacing left on the glass. Color is a hazy golden amber.

Smell has a citric floral aroma blunted by a honey malt backbone. Taste is a combination of citric flavors. Lime, lemon, grapefruit, tangerines. Sweet malty flavors balance with some peppery spices.

Mouthfeel is slick and slightly oily. Nice carbonation bite. Nice IA, I don't feel a 7% at all.

Deep amber color with a tan head. Good retention throught the entire glass. Big hops but not much malt in the nose. The taste was a bit more complex. There are of course the hops, but also some nice caramel and fruity malts. The hops bite from start to finish. Body was a little light for me, but still crisp and smooth. A good drinker with some pop.

Wow. what a great beer. Props to the roommie for picking this up for me while he was out in Co. best on date: 08.15.08

The smell was fantastic - amazing for someone who can hardly smell and it was a bad allergy day. nice sweet hops (cascade, centennial?), citrus - grapefruit

Appearance is a nice color color with fluffy head that leave a nice lace on the glass.

Taste: Amazing hops, sweet malt on the tip of your tongue while hops linger in the back. I can only imagine what their Double IPA is like.

Mouthfeel- again solid here. nothing really different that an great IPA which this is. perfect carbonation.

Drinkability- I could and would drink this all night.

Ride 'em, Pachederm!

Hazy orange appearance, fulsome, fresh white head.

Fresh, vibrant, floral aroma...lively...orange, tangerine, mango....abso-lovely.

Tastin'...more of the same. Fresh, delicious, fruit aplenty. There's some mango in there, with the orange and grapefruit,
just gorgeous.

Very even-keeled, despite it's 7% abv,...no, wait, maybe not....but it's still smooth, and tasty, and memorable.
An ideal IPA. I could grab this in a pinch with nary a quarrel.

Appearance
Nice tall white head; clear, light orange/yellow; minimal carbonation bubbles; head subsides quickly leaving little lacing

Aroma
Really strong here - very inviting pungent, floral hop aroma

Taste & Mouthfeel
A little thin in body, but really full on flavor; loads of fresh, tasty hops; immediately enjoyable, leaves me wanting more! Overall, really heavy on hops and light on malt - a little imbalanced for my liking; leaves a tasty, pronounced aftertaste of hops

Overall
Love the flavor, but it's a little thin overall and too imbalanced; I wish it had more malt backing to give it some weight and balance; it was enjoyable and worth trying, but I wouldn't buy it again with its steep price.

*I've had this a few times on tap now and it just blows me away how good it is. I definitely need to give the bottled version another try because, on tap, it's an A beer.*

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A-Has a rich amber color with little to no head but a good lacing.
S-Wonderful smell very fragrant hoppy scent.
T-The intense hop rush from this beer the 1st time i had it was astounding i was ready for an IPA but this one suprised even me.
M-Leaves a very nice hop taste in your mouth with a very good finish for a beer with as much alcohol and hops as it does.
D-Not for the faint of heart or the casual drinker but if you are an IPA lover or someone who doesnt back down from a challenge pick one up and try it, you will not be disapointed

Thanks to Jhawkinmo for the chance to try this beer.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Pint glass.

Apperance- Cloudy golden copper color, good head and retention.

Smell- Awesome big hop smell, very pleasing to the nose.

Taste, Mouthfeel- Nice hops taste, not overpowering at all, a dry crisp finish leaves you wanting more! Medium body and carb.

Drinkablity- I Love this IPA!! Very drinkable by my standards and I will definately recommend this to my fellow BA's. I could see how this beer recently won the National IPA Contest!

75 reviews as of this writing. I'll skip the long review and go with the short. A phenomenal looking beer with a classic american approach -citric hops, sweet malts and a high abv. The thing that struck me the most with this is if they lowered the ABV and kept the same hop effect I think I'd like it more.

Not overpoweringly strong, just a bit too sweet and slightly stronger than I would like for an evening and dinner beer / session beer yet not quite strong enough for a relax in the evening beer.

Bottle courtesy of ArrogantB, thanks again!

Pours a bright gold color with a decent head that quickly fades.

With nice citrus hop nose, a very pineapple like aroma, along with some resiny pine. Very nice nose.

Beer has a very clean hop forward flavor profile. Tastes crisp, with citrus hop flavors, some strong pine resin flavors, and a slight underlying malt creaminess. Finish is tart, dry, and crisp.

Mouthfeel is good, crisp and full.

Drinkability is excellent. This is a very nice IPA, I could see having more than one of these in one setting. Tasty, and quite hoppy. Could probably use a little more balance to be an outstanding IPA, but this is still a top notch one.

12oz Bottle

Best by: 6/14/08

Received in another great trade with BitterBill, thanks again Bill! Odell's IPA pours a crystal clear deep golden with few large carbonation bubbles rising to the surface. A dense white meringue-like head grew to one + fingers on the pour. After a few minutes the head fell to a skimming with a thick ring and solid lacing. A good looking IPA!

This is an inviting, delicious smelling IPA! There is a lot of citrus in the nose, lemon and orange mostly, in that order of intensity. There's even some spruce needle hoppiness in there all over a foundation of pale maltiness. The smell of this IPA reminds me of a milder Hop Wallop.

The flavor doesn't quite live up to the aroma but is good none the less. Big notes of the lemon and orange the nose suggested along with a unique peppery spiciness. The spruce comes through on the swallow and provides the bitterness. Al this over a barely noticeable malt base which is just the way I like things.

The mouthfeel of this beer is just about perfect its medium bodied, soft and creamy on the tongue. The lack of carbonation lets this beer glide through slowly and allows the hoppiness to shine.

This beer is going down far too easily! I could easily and enjoyably put away a few of these in a sitting.

This is my first sampling from Odell and not my last. I'm very impressed with this IPA. It doesn't fall into the cookie cutter mold like so many other brewers do. Too bad this isn't available locally; it would be a constant in my fridge. Thanks for the taste Bill!

A- Light golden yellow with a white head and excellent lacing

S- Wow. Grapefruit, hint of lemon and orange, with a sweet pine smell

T- That citrus hoppiness right up front, into a medium to soft bitterness and a hint of malt. Delicious

M- good carbonation, crisp

D- Very drinkable, smooth and refreshing. Even with the hoppiness I found it very well balanced.

It pours a rather light golden straw color which was its only weak point. Impressive head with great lacing and good carbonation. Smells of good piney hops and not much else. Taste is pretty similar, good hoppiness with a slight malt sweetness hanging around. A very slight grainy aftertaste. A light bodied beer that finishes dry. Odell delivers another fantastic beer.

Big thanks to this beer from BlackForestCO
Pours a very slightly hazy orange to golden color with a nice white head. Smell is a bit fruity, musky and earthy hops. A unique smelling hop combination. Taset is crisp and hoppy with an almost funky mustiness but sharply flavored hop. Goes down very easily and really is a unique IPA. Pretty damn good and drinkable.

Oxymoron sent this along in a recent trade. Thanks!
Poured a cloudy light orange colour with a thin off-white cap of fine bubbles. Sheets of bubbles clung to the glass and lacing was spotty as I finished the glass. Smells of grapefruit and pine, a bit powdery and quite fruity. Solid bitterness that became a bit resinous in the lingering finish. Citrus and grapefruit, plus a bit of sweet caramel, filled out the flavour. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. A bit drying. A solid IPA, well balanced and nothing out of place. Good stuff.

Thanks to fishdawg71 for this one.

Small capped bottle poured into a pint; the nice orange but clear body produced a nice fluffy white head, that eventually drops into a collar but said collar goes all the way, as it produces a nice lacing.
Aroma is certainly hoppy, but a lot more floral than grapefruity, and along comes some bready maltiness to balance it a bit.
Reasonably firm on the palate, it is hoppy but not overly hopped; there is a nice balance between the floral hops and bready malts; not a lot of grapefruit here which makes it nicer in my opinion.
Well crafted and balanced.

Poured a pale golden color and cloudy at that. Very small whitehead. Smells wonderful. Pine, citrus, flower and hints of malt. Taste is smooth, bitey, flavorful. Very solid IPA, not over-hopped, just right. Citrus and green pine mix well. Makes for good drinking. Could used a bit more crispness at the end. Malt comes back toward the finish. Very solid IPA!

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. This beer has a 1.5 finger head and is a golden/copper color. Smells of citrus and hops. Taste echoes the aroma with a small hint of caramel malt poking through. A well carbonated medium bodied beer that I could drink all day long.

Have heard a lot about this beer from many people, both beer drinkers and BMC people alike, figured I'd see what it was all about.

A: Poured a hazy pale golden color with a dense head about an inch thick. Its a little lighter than most IPAs but does look interesting and highly drinkable.

S: Grapefruit hop smell, some piney scents as well. The hop smell is very raw. I detect a little bit of a sugary malt smell as well, somewhat similar to cotton candy i guess.

T: A little malt sweetness upfront but its quickly washed away by pure hop flavor, citrusy bite, almost like eating a grapefruit peel. Nice lingering bitterness, alcohol taste hits towards the end as well. Pretty complex, but not overly complex, I'm thoroughly impressed. The balance is off, but not out of style at all, a little more malt would make it perfect.

M: This is perfect in the mouth for an IPA, not too watered down, not too thick either, all in all a smooth beer. Nice hop bitterness and an interesting slight dryness.

D: This is a beer I could easily drink all night, the alcohol is hidden though at 7% and could easily catch up. Overall though it doesn't leave the tongue on fire and its pretty damn good.

12 oz bottle via Oxymoron

P: Pours a clear golden under a medium sized white head. Some lace and some decent retention.

S: Smells grapefruity hops with hints of other citrus fruits.

T: Tastes of a bitter hops, a refreshing grapefruit and pine. Not a whole lot of malt backbone. Hops are very refreshing, and very balanced.

M/D: Light bodied, slightly prickly carbonation, semi-creamy body. Pretty refreshing and pretty drinkable. A very solid IPA.

A - A clear marigold brew supports a two finger bone white head that looks frothy and rich. Lots of crisp lace is left on the glass. Looks like a German pils.

S - Mandarin oranges with a trace of the tin they came packaged in. Dank "herbal" notes, and you know what I mean by "herbal." Smells a bit fruity on top of the jungle of hop buds. Tangelo and mango too. This smells really nice! It's been a while since I've had a good hop fix and I can't wait to dive into this one.

T - Much like the nose, this is full of really fruity citrus and summer fruit hoppiness. Mango and passion fruit are there along with the expected grapefruit. The really tight and malty background is firm like hard tack biscuits, but provides a really nice template for the herbal fruity hop flavors.

M - Medium bodied, moderately carbonated, firm, slightly attenuated, and EXTREMELY dry. The finish on this "herbal" brew is all cottonmouth and I like it!

D - A great IPA! I like the summer fruit and the marijuana like aromas, and the dry finish is killer. This is good beer.

The pours is mostly clear and a pale golden color with a full finger foamy white head that resists fading. A fair amount of lacing left behind. The smell is aggressive grassy, piny hop with a resin character. Adequately carbonated, the mouth feel is primarily tangy from the hops and the piny character lingers in an oily resin texture. Full flavored, the taste is a real shot in the arm. The pine grapefruit flavor is quite refreshing. The 7% ABV is integrated well. A real nice drinker. Thank you drumrboy22 for the opportunity to sample this one.

12oz bottle pours into my glass a crystal clear golden orange hue with a solid inch of creamy white head that sticks around and leaves some sticky lacing. Lots of active carbonation. Aromas of citric green hop resins arise out of the glass with notes of grapefruit and tropical fruits. A mildly sweet crystal malt in the background with just a touch of caramel.

First sip brings a somewhat sweet crystal malt body upfront that moves into some citrusy, medicinal hop flavors. Notes of grapefruit, green hop resin and toasted grains follow. Flows down with a nice bitterness on the end and finishes a tad dry.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a smooth creaminess as the brew goes down. Good, sturdy body for an IPA. I'm just personally not a fan of the hopping that was done on this one. It could've used a bit more malt backbone as well. . Thanks to BitterBill for tossing this my way.

This is a true pale golden amber color, big carbonation, one finger-deep, all-white head with plenty of sticky lacing after really good retention. Great look.

A nice herbal, grainy, wheatie but very fruity hop scent pops right out of the glass, fresh cascade-like hops, distinct pineapple tang and sweetness follows.

This is a rightous IPA flavor, very "wet hop" flavor with big fruitiness, especially pineapple and apricot, also herbal and wet-earth scented, a nice round mix of hop flavors here for sure. There's also a smooth, roastie malt that adds excellent balance. This one is like a perfect mix of IPA's...it's got the fruity-red berries and smooth buttery malt flavor's of a Harpoon IPA and the acidic pineapple edge of the Stone Ruination but toned down just a bit. slightly spicey on the way down.

Medium, crisp, clean, good bite but smooth finish. Just right.

A fine IPA here folks.

041908 punched into label. Bottle conditioned evident; yeast sedimented on bottom of bottle.

Poured into the Stone IPA specialty glass. Deep golden color with a little of cloudiness from the yeast. Boasts large frothy foam on top. Aggressive lacing as you consume this beer. Medium to high carbonation.

Hops are bight and aromatic and take the reigns on your olfactory. Intense and resinous with grapefruit and fresh cut grass in front and a bit of a soapy aroma in the end.

Bitterness is smooth and balanced with malt flavors. Hops contribute a nice floral taste. While being at the high end of the alcohol spectrum of the style, any such flavors a extremely subdued.

A bit on the thin side, I prefer a bit more unfermentable sugar in the finish; could withstand a bit more body/mouthfeel. A great everyday IPA...
