Odell produces one of the best Colorado IPAs available, and there's no debating it. It is a classic American IPA, delivering all the bitterness, finish, aroma, and punching flowers one could hope for in an IPA. I don't understand the nay-sayers. Odell does it well as almost anyone else. (287 characters)

Orange in color with citrus aromas. Fine for an old world IPA but many others such as Trillium, Treehouse, and HF have passed it by. Front is bland, mid palate is too malty for me and the finish is bitter. (207 characters)

look: 4.5 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Pours orange in color with 1 inch white head.

Aroma yields lemon citrus, tropical fruits, grapefruit. Tons of excellent citrus notes -- my type of aroma.

Taste follows the nose. Big bitter grapefruit, tropical fruits, herbaceous quality, slight medicinal finish. Bitterness lingers. Reminds me of a stone beer that is a little more rounded out. My only complaint is the mouthfeel. It is slightly under carbonated for my taste. Classic west coast IPA.

Overall this beer is very good. I enjoyed it and will definitely drink it again. I can see it pairing well with Korean BBQ tacos. It gets a 93/100. (601 characters)

Big grassy hop nose, pours brilliant gold under a 1” off white foam cap that persists and clings, Creamy, spicy with some fruit, on the palate with hop bitterness balancing the fruit. Medium high carbonation, medium body. A world class old standby. (250 characters)

Clear amber colored ale with a medium sized white colored head.

Smells strongly of citrus. Smells mostly of grapefruit. Some pine board scent. Faint cinnamon and sandalwood.

Starts out mild with a lot of caramel taste. Slight pine board taste. Citrus taste and mild bitterness, this isn't a hop head IPA.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall an easy drinking IPA that won't whip your tongue in to submission. (407 characters)

Found a bottle at Four Firkins in Minneapolis. The best by date states it's good for another two-and-a-half months. Poured right from the bottle into my Lakefront pint glass.

L: Pours a bright golden straw with about an inch of eggshell head that falls after a bit but leaves nice lacing. Very clear, with moderate visible carbonation.

S: Beautiful bouquet on this one: some very assertive grapefruit, stone fruit, and grassy hop notes come through loud and clear. Just a touch of pine and herbal funk, as well. Fresh and inviting.

T: Luscious is a good word to describe this one: very fruit-forward hop profile, with great notes of grapefruit, stone fruit, and a bit of pineapple. The front has some cracker malt, but the fruity hop notes are there immediately, delivering tons of flavor with very little in the way of bitter. There are some bubblegum notes in the middle, as well. The close is strong on the grapefruit hop notes, but it delivers more tartness than bitterness. This one, overall, has much less bitterness than the nose suggested.

F: On the light side of medium-bodied, perfectly carbonated, and clean-finishing. It's got a creamy quality and--again--very little in the way of syrupy stick or bitterness.

O: This is a fantastic IPA--one of the best, if not the best, fruit-forward single IPAs I've had. This one probably won't please those hop heads who really want that bitter linger at the end of their IPAs, but it should suit everyone else just fine. I will definitely return to this one. (1,514 characters)

look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 3.75

Look: Hazy golden amber. Short head hangs around. light carbonation.

Smell: Little Lemony. Little Piney. Little Minty.

Taste: More pine than on the nose. Sweet malts are complimented nicely by the subtle lemony citrus notes. Fairly complex and very well balanced. Not very bitter

Feel: Body is pretty close to perfect. Finishes fairly dry. a little oily.

Overall: Not a very bad everyday sixer. Don't really think it's as great as some other IPAs I've had. Can't really think of a situation I'd actively seek this one out. There are other daily sixers I'd much rather have. Maybe if I'm in Fort Collins. (607 characters)

Poured a golden/orange color with a bit fat fluffy two finger head. Great retention and lacing. Big citrusy orange aroma, as well as some piney notes and just a hint of sweetness. Flavor has lots of grapefruit and orange peel and a nice malty backbone, very well balanced. Mouthfeel was medium bodied with lots of carbonation. Overall, just an outstanding IPA- one of the best out there that's not a double or an imperial. Hats off to you Odell! (445 characters)

355ml (12 US fl.oz) bottle poured into a tulip glass

Look: Pours translucent orange. Very orange, in fact. Slight haziness but nothing too bad. Fingers-width of white head which left behind some lacing after dropping down to a foam cap. Did I mention that it looks a bit, erm, orange?

Smell: Hops, hops and more hops. On the one hand, it's an almost stereotypical American IPA but on the other the smell is quite a bit more floral than most. This isn't a bad thing, though.

Taste: Strangely, it doesn't taste nearly as hoppy as it smells. If anything, the hops are toned down a wee bit and the fruitiness (grapefruit, passionfruit, lemon etc.) is a bit more upfront. A little bit of maltiness lurking in the background but as you'd expect this is pretty much hop-forward.

Feel: Decent carbonation, smooth tasting and a dry, bitter finish. Typical IPA in other words.

Overall: I suspect my expectations for this might have been a bit high - it gets a lot of good press and it's not difficult to see why but for some reason it didn't quite do it for me. It's not a bad IPA by any means - in fact I'd go so far to say as it's one of the better ones out there, but there's not much to distinguish it from the zillions of other IPAs out there. Worth a try, but not overwhelming. (1,278 characters)

Very drinkable ipa. Really clear. The smell is much more hoppy than the taste unfortunately. Does not end as dry as I like for ipas. Good beer, better options available. Filler in a trade so only one bottle to try. Probably four months old based on a best by date of July 15,15.

Would try again (297 characters)

Had such high expectations, but this was literally just "okay." Poured on draft at Capone's, but scent and taste was truly just pedestrian; nothing special at all. I really hope it was a bad tap line or something, and will try this again when I see it somewhere else. But so disappointed in this one. (300 characters)

I love this IPA. While not the most inventive or exciting, it essentially does no wrong as straight-up American IPA. Sessionable, bodied, sneaky abv, raw piney and juicy floral bursts, clean and dry brown-tinged golden grain textures, flashy and effective effervescence, lean and smoothly crisp tapering as each sip finishes—Odell really just hits all the marks with its IPA.

I first tried this three years ago at 77 Longbranch Saloon in Chadron, NE, and it was a revelation on simple, sublime execution; each time I'm able to snag a six, those initial impressions are confirmed anew. (589 characters)

Appearance : apricot colored body, 80% opaque. Head is two fingers, eggshell white, and leaves generous lacing as it recedes.

Aroma : grapefruit, pine, a little nectarine. Nice hoppy profile to be nosed. Very clean, spiced, fresh.

Taste : very fruity yet somewhat astringent at the same time. Tropical fruits - papaya, mango, with a bit of wet earth.

Mouthfeel : slick mouthfeel with creamy accents. Ends semi dry.

Overall : a fine representation of the style. Good stuff. Would have again if I was an ipa fan. (516 characters)

Always excited for a layover in Denver, since I get to have this lovely brew at the airport. Slightly orange golden color, aroma of grapefruit, citrus, and maybe melon. Nice little citrus and hop combination bite, but not overwhelmingly sweet or bitter. Great balance of flavor that is both refreshing and engaging. Like another reviewer stated, this is the IPA to bring to those who dislike IPA's. (398 characters)

A: Clear, golden with a tight white one-finger head that lingers. Nice lacing.

S: A citrus bomb, featuring oranges (maybe tangerines), pineapple and grapefruit. Piney hops in the background.

T: The perfect IPA. Citrus smooth, featuring the above items on smell, with light piney hops to balance the malt profile. Amazing.

M: Medium with medium carbonation. Decadent. Delicious.

O: I would stock this all the time if it were available. This is the IPA to convince people who don't like IPA's. A venerable brew. Highly recommended. (550 characters)

Appearance - Pours clear and golden copper in color with an off-white 2 finger head. Good retention, leading to a thin, consistent layer of surface suds.

Smell - Orange and pineapple notes are the prominent notes in the aroma, with lesser grapefruit and pine. Bready malts in there beneath somewhere.

Taste - Follows the nose. Hops are tropical with pineapple and orange being deadly tag team partners. Light pine. Malts are fairly hidden, but add a decent backbone to this amazing hop bomb.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Silky texture. Smooth. Very nice!

Overall - Fantastic IPA, though I think I like their Runoff Red is better. That's not to sell this brew short, it's a definite gem. (717 characters)

look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

Appearance- Amber in color, clear, and pours a two finger foamy white colored head.

Aroma- Citrus/ grapefruit hops with caramel sweetness and dry bready malts in the background.

Taste- Very similar to the nose except orange fruit is big up front with citrus hops and caramel sweetness in the beginning. Finish gets bitterness from a combo of grapefruit and a dry bready malt.

Feel- Medium bodied, medium carbonation, and dry finish with mild bitterness.

Overall- A very good ipa but I didn't feel it the world class beer that the rating indicate. The orange flavor from the hops is very nice and malt is a great blend of sweetness and dryness, but its just missing something to make it world class. (705 characters)

One of my very favorite American IPAs.

Look: Pours honey golden color with a bone white soapy 2 finger head that dissipates quickly leaving lots of lacing

Smell: Aroma of citrusy hops up front, particularly pineapple &grapefruit.

Taste: Delicious and refreshing. Up front with orange, lemon, and pine notes. Hoppy bitterness up front (not sweet at all) with a dry alcohol finish. Enough malt to balance but not overwhelm the hoppiness. Great work Odell!

Feel: Mildly carbonated, some burn on the back of the tongue. Coating is light and refreshing. It does not linger. After a minute or so you can experience the flavor again with a fresh drink from the glass. High ABV for an IPA(vs IIpa) - well disguised apart from a little burn on the finish. Refresing enough to be a Session IPA but be forewarned, it is NOT a session IPA! (831 characters)

The king of the hill!...The Lord of the Realm!...One IPA to rule them all!!!...Sorry to go all nerdy but this is probably my favorite American IPA.

I won't waste much time talking about its flavor because it just needs to be tried, but it strikes a perfect balance between sweet and bitter and has alot of Grapefruit and orange rind with some piney effects on the tongue. Look, Taste, Smell, and Feel are all rated at 5...but I have to mark it down on Overall because its always more expensive than the other IPAs on the shelf by a few dollars on average...not that it shouldn't be, but still. This is the quintessential American IPA rivaled only by a few (like Firestone). (675 characters)

Fresh hops and an expert hand yields a piney brew with all the great fresh hoppy notes you want in an IPA without all the unwanted aftertaste that a lot of the time comes with an IPA. The label artwork is pretty neat also, very appreciative of breweries that put effort into proper advertisement of their brand. Would drink again 10/10 times. (342 characters)

Pours a light coppery golden with a bone froth atop the clear brew.
Aroma has a strong piney resinous note similar to Rampant DIPA from their neighbor.
The hops pack a wallop but the sweet malt fights back achieving a nice balance. It is amazing how balanced this beer tastes yet the hops sustain a steady bitterness and very flavorful pine throughout the finish.
There is a medium carbonation and medium body. Oily and coating hop resins dominate.
Overall I like this IPA and would seek it out again. (504 characters)
