thanks to Buebie for gifting this one to me in a recent trade.

a- pours a slightly dull looking yellow/orange color. shows nice clarity with a persistent white head.

s- big citrus hits the nose hard. great vibrant lemon and orange peel notes. it's almost hard to define anything else, besides a bit of lingering sweetness and some floral notes. the citrus steals the show and I'm on the edge of my seat to see what happens next.

t- an unusually unique IPA. the bitterness is light. that combined with a good amount of sweetness almost turns this one into a mixed citrus fruit juice beverage. a substantial amount of sweetness mixes with orange, lemon, and big grapefruit flavors. it's rare that I think an IPA is unbalanced sweetness wise, yet it still has some great citrus notes. the low bitterness mixes with a bit of pine and biscuit malts in the finish.

m- great body for an IPA. not letting that 7.0% go to waste. a nice crisp carbonation and a bit of slickness. a pleasant smoothness to this puppy.

d- a good one for sure. not overly hoppy and no alcohol to be found. it's a shame this is my only bottle. more Odells please (1,137 characters)

poured a creamy white head which left plenty of lacing on the rim. Man was the retention nice and unexpected. After the head had settled a bit I gave it a nice swirl and to my suprise the first pours little brother showed up. On the nose I picked up hops after hops, followed by grapefruit, tangerines and plenty of pine. The passion fruit aroma was plesent and inviting. Taste is right on with the smell. Plenty of hops for you hop heads and a nice amount of fruit such as grapefruit, tangerine, maybe a hint of mango and peach.
Overall this IPA was a very sessionable brew. After each drink it had the right amount of bitterness and sweetness to make you want to go back for more. I don't see one reason why I should not have a couple of these in my fridge at all times. Once again, O'Dell Brewing does what plenty are trying to do. (835 characters)

Pours clear, yellow honey with thin white head and minimal lace. Aroma of piney hops with honey and slight fruit. The initial flavor is sweet and malty with a longht live light to moderately bitter aftertaste that is maybe more like a pale ale rather than an IPA. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly creamy feel, dry finish and moderate carbonation. Overall, this is very mild for an IPA. It has good flavor and is very drinkable but not overly complex. (464 characters)

This poured with about an inch head of tiny bubbles that sank after a couple minutes leaving a thin layer across the top. The beer is a glowing gold-orange and if you look really close you can spot some fine sediment floating around in there. Smells awesome; really peachy and fruity - in fact for an IPA I'm not really getting any pine-like aromas at all, just peach and orange citrus. The flavor tastes peachy right up front, followed by grapefruit as the hop bitters start to work in there - nice balance. Carbonation is medium-low, and the mouthfeel is quite smooth. Overall I think this is a fantastic IPA. (611 characters)

This beer was poured into a pint glass. As it was poured it created a fair amount of head but the retention was a little lacing. The aroma is of a sweater hops smell giving a note of a good balance of hops and malts. The taste of the beer is of a medium dryer amount of hops. The coriander and malt is slight but barly there. The aftertaste is a decent one but not something that makes you crave them. (401 characters)

A: slightly hazy golden straw with a nice finger of fluffy white head. Tons of very fine lacing and good head retention.

S: Nice pine and floral hop notes. Citrus and tropical fruit notes. great aroma!

T: A nie sweet citrus on the front side which is pushed to the side right away by a nice bitter pine hop. Ends really smooth with very little bitter after taste.

M: Medium carbonation and medium body. Nice sweet bitter hoppy taste with a resin almost sticky mouthfeel.

O: Extremely well balanced beer. Really like this beer although it may not be as bitter as many IPAs this is a great beer. Nice piney hops! (614 characters)

A- Excellent orange/golden color, with a huge creamy white head about 3 fingers, settles nicely but staying around as a nice pillow on top. Beautiful layered lacing, cobwebbing down the glass.

S- Citrusy, clementine, mango notes on the nose, light sweetness.

T- Wow, such a clean balanced IPA, citrus notes again reflected, tangerine and tropical fruit notes (papaya, light pineapple), awesome biscuit toasty caramel malt, with a grapefruity earthy spiced hop finish, that leaves a nice clean bitterness.

M- Malty enough and almost creamy, good oily viscous resin notes from the hops, smooth texture from the malt, great balance, tingling crisp carbonation works perfectly to deliver all of the flavors.

D- At 7% this is an amazingly drinkable IPA, not overly bitter, fantastic balance, well hidden ABV, superb IPA, great depth of flavor! (843 characters)

Pours a light coppery golden with a bone froth atop the clear brew.
Aroma has a strong piney resinous note similar to Rampant DIPA from their neighbor.
The hops pack a wallop but the sweet malt fights back achieving a nice balance. It is amazing how balanced this beer tastes yet the hops sustain a steady bitterness and very flavorful pine throughout the finish.
There is a medium carbonation and medium body. Oily and coating hop resins dominate.
Overall I like this IPA and would seek it out again. (504 characters)

Pours very nicely and with a good, sustained head with sticky lacing. Pure orangeish gold in color. Smells amazing, one of the best hop smells of any beer out there. Very Piney and fresh smelling with plenty of floral notes. Not exactly sure which hops they used, but you can tell Odell has good control over their hops. Taste is somewhat biscuity, with a sweet hop freshness. Again, more floral taste here. A little citrus, and it finishes only slightly bitter with a lingering hop aftertaste. Definately know you are drinking an IPA, but it isn't overwhelming. Mouthfeel and drinkability are good, and it goes down smooth without excessive bite. I'm not a huge hophead, but this is one of my favorate IPAs, and one that everyone should try. Definately Odell's best brew in my opinion. (786 characters)

on tap at papago...

pours a hazy pale copper color with a soft soap foam-like head. immense amounts of foam rings and webby lace is almost unreal.

the aroma is very earthy... almost like wood with notes of grapefruit, leafy hops, pine and caramel maltiness.

malt sweetness is a touch high for me but the level of bitterness and it's parching qualities keep me coming back. the flavor reminds me of sweetened yellow grapefruit juice (the real thing not the canned crap)... along with a solid malt backbone, orange pith and peel and some pine-like leafy green hops.

the body is medium but the carbonation is very soft which makes it really creamy on the tongue.

this is a great food friendly beer that can be consumed all night! 7/4/7/4/16/3.8 (751 characters)

Apperance: Pours an orange amber with a huge frothy head that sticks to the glass and sticks around as well.

Smell: Smells like an american IPA should. Piney, fruity, and delicious. Not an incredibly strong aroma though but still smells great.

Taste: Strong and piney. Finishes nice and fruity.

Overall, a great beer for any hop lover. Me personally, I tihnk I'm at the point where I need to steer away from hoppy beers for a little while (443 characters)

12oz bottle from 6-pack bought at Wal-Mart $7.64

best buy date 10/5 /13

Poured into tulip pint glass
A: Pours a half-fingered head but with incredible lacing that never dissipates . Hazy burnt copper color. This beer is a thing of beauty.
S: Huge citrus aroma upfront: definitely lemon zest and tangerines, the hops are there for sure . Subtle pine scent in the background.
T: Taste follows the nose here; sweet citrus flavor upfront, some buscuity malts through the middle, with a bitter hops kick in the finish.
M: Starts off crisp and clean, but then the malts smooth it all out and pull everything together.

O: While i'm not a huge fan of most IPA's, I do find this one quite enjoyable. If I had to sum this one up in a few words, very balanced. Most AIPAs that I have tried are usually one dimensional, with the bitter profile being the dominate aspect. With this one, all its elements work in harmony to create a very complex, yet smooth beverage. And somehow the 7% abv and 70 ibu are so well hidden, you almost forget that its an IPA. Probably the craziest thing is that I bought this masterpiece at Freakin Wal-Mart. (1,132 characters)

Bottle poured into imperial pint glass. Best buy date of 10/18/2011, so this guy should be pretty fresh here in the front end of August. Thanks to Titosupertramp for bringing this one back from a road trip.

A- Somewhat bright golden. Slightly hazy. Two fingers of whispy white head that leaves a clear ring as it recedes.

S- Big grapefruit hop aromas. A slight bitterness, and maybe a tiny sourness to it. Very nice.

T- The grapefruit is not as prominent a player on the tongue. While still nicely there, it is a sharp pine bitterness that takes center first, followed by a wash of grapefruit. A lingering bitterness.

M- Medium bodied. Nicely carbonated, and easy drinking.

O- This a very, very solid IPA, and one that I wish I had regular access to. (756 characters)

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a perfect pint.

Pours a deep, clear golden color with a big, rocky white head, clearer than I would have expected for the style. Head recedes slowly and leaves some nice lacing as it goes. Nose is lots of citrus hops with some herbal notes in the background, very aromatic. Taste, as one would expect, is lots of hops. Mostly citrus but really a little bit of everything as far as hops go. Tons of hop flavor and plenty of bitterness, but not so much that it is overwhelming or blocks out the grainy malt backbone. Medium bodied with a bit of a sticky finish. Dangerously drinkable considering it clocks in at 7%. This was the first beer I tried after moving to Colorado and has become maybe my favorite IPA. A fitting 100th review. (764 characters)

Poured into a New Belgium globe glass.

Poured a 1 finger head, that dissipated over a minute or so. Golden orange in color.

Smells hoppy, Piney, and citrusey.

Tastes pretty hoppy, and a little bit watery.

Mouthfeel is very good. medium carbonation leaving me with a crisp feeling.

This beer is easy to drink. Its a very good IPA. (334 characters)

This is a great beer in a sense that you can get it anywhere here in Arizona. I am glad I am able to buy this on a regular basis and I believe it is a good tasting beer that you can have on any occasion. Might I add this is very affordable.

Taste: Has an awesome hop taste, the one im drinking imparticular must have been a tad older, but still held proper hop characteristic

mouthfeel: has your IPA mouthfeel, pretty damn awesome and is the perfect between creamy and light mouthfeel.

aroma: Like I said this was probably an older bottle, but overall the smell is good. Citrus *like armarillo hops*

overall: This is a great beer for someone to experience. This is something they brew all year round that offers a very citrusy and partially balanced IPA. It has some alcohol content to get you feelin good which is always good, but you don't get that crazy burn from the beer. I fully recommend it if you haven't tried it and for $9 a six pack, can't be beaten. (965 characters)

Amber orange in color with 2 fingers of white head. Solid lacing. Hop smell jumps out. Pine, grassy. I could sit and smell this beer all day! The bitterness of the hops is there in the taste, but not the same distinct flavors. A bit of the malt sweetness comes through. Solid beer, but the hop flavor could use refinement. (322 characters)

A - Pours a straw colored yellowish orange with two finger head. Lacing clings to side of glass.

S - Citrus, orange, a bit of ganja.

T - Crisp citrus hops, lemon, orange, again that hint of ganja and that bitter wave of hops followed by just barely noticeable malt backbone and dry finish.

M - Medium with good carbonation and dry finish.

O - This is a very solid IPA and a staple in my fridge. Finally getting around to reviewing this great beer. I go back and forth with this and two hearted as my go to IPA's. Definitely seek out if available. (550 characters)

Look: Hazy golden amber. Short head hangs around. light carbonation.

Smell: Little Lemony. Little Piney. Little Minty.

Taste: More pine than on the nose. Sweet malts are complimented nicely by the subtle lemony citrus notes. Fairly complex and very well balanced. Not very bitter

Feel: Body is pretty close to perfect. Finishes fairly dry. a little oily.

Overall: Not a very bad everyday sixer. Don't really think it's as great as some other IPAs I've had. Can't really think of a situation I'd actively seek this one out. There are other daily sixers I'd much rather have. Maybe if I'm in Fort Collins. (607 characters)

A - Slight hazy, amber to gold color. Good size, lacy, ivory colored head with good retention.

S - love the smell - very citrusy.

T - Citrusy hop character as well, not too malty sweet. Hops dominate. Nice bitterness that endures after drinking.

M - smooth with moderate viscosity.

D - This beer goes down smooth, but after a couple of them you know you've drank some beer, both from the "fullness factor" and the 7% ABV will sneak up on you.

Overall this is one of my go to's for American IPA. (499 characters)

Great beer here from Odell Brewing.
I bought this as a single while in Denver for vacation, but I wish I had picked up a sixer.
Lighter colored IPA, yellowish amber with decent head and lacing.
Very citric and floral bouquet in the nose, with the perfect hop flavor shining through the bitter foundation.
Very good IPA. (321 characters)

12 oz Bottle poured into a pint glass (looking back, this may not have been the best choice for glass).

A-Very good looking dark gold, almost orange color. Thick foamy 11/2 finger head.

S- Exceptional smell. Very light and fruity citrus smell at first, almost a tropical smell. The spicy smell of hops is present, but not overpowering.

T- Very complex. There is a very light fruitiness, which is followed by typical bitterness from the hops. The bitterness is not as high as I like. I think that the hops are offset by the malt flavor of the beer. Although I prefer a more bitter IPA, I really do admire the complexity of this beer. I think Odell had some very good ideas with this beer.

M- Very light and smooth. Good.

D- A solid beer. I wouldn't mind having a few of these in one sitting, but I think I would get tired of it after a few. (848 characters)

Appearance - Beautiful pale orange color with that poured to a one inch head.

Smell - ermagerd!! Beautiful tropical and citrus notes leap from the glass. I seriously could smell this beer all night long. Amazing!

Taste - malty sweetness upfront gives way to an assault of citrus flavor with a tingle of dry bitterness at the end. Unbelievable flavor that lingers well after the beer is swallowed.

Mouthfeel - thick enough without being to cloying or sticky. Perhaps even a creaminess to it.

Overall- One of the best IPAs in the world. Outrageous aromatics with the flavor to match. (588 characters)

Pours a clear gold/light amber with a sizeable white head. Superb aroma - absolutely love it! Definite citrus (tangerine, grapefruit) and very hoppy. Taste - bitter, dry to the end. Head diminishes, but lacing strong through the finish. Fantastic IPA and would definitely buy again - Cheers! (306 characters)

Received in a trade with Tolann - thank you so much!
I could sit and write about this beer for some time, but I gotta keep it brief tonight. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Big seafoam creme head, topping at almost 2 fingers and loitering for an eternity. Whence finally gone, left in its path is the dankest web of sticky lacing this side of Ft. Collins. Slight haze in the body, bright honey orange. The archetypal IPA.

Dreamy nose, so well done. Brilliant notes of mango and grapefruit. Alive, ripe and in your face. Picking up only a touch of grass and grain. One of the better IPA's I've had the pleasure of smelling. Taste is quite a feat as well, lemony and citric, a bounty of fruity hop qualities cover the tongue. Light to medium in body, but obtaining a fair amount of resiny oily slickness that pools and makes my mouth water. In the midst of this, there is a full, creamy yeastiness, and just enough pale malt to be detectable. Finishes full and sweet, which at times is overwhelming, but usually very enjoyable.

A very well crafted IPA, a very fine example of the modern style. (1,095 characters)
