Presentation: 12 oz bottle. Odell's latest offering in 6 packs - this one will be available year round according to the brewers website. Nice bottles and labels to fit in with Odell's other offerings - great labels and marketing. Plenty of information too - ABV, best by date, beer description.

Appearance: Clear reddish orange color with a nice thick head, good retention and lacing.

Smell: Huge whiff of grassy hops as I poured. Piney resinous hops, some grassy aroma. Definitely hop dominated - smells great.

Taste: Low carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Hops come across more as bitterness here than hop flavor. Nice balance of malt and hops without being over powering.

Overall impression: Highly drinkable - dangerous at 7 %. Looking forward to trying this a few more times as it hits the local market. Great aromatic hops, nicely balanced beer.

4/21 bottle date poured into a Sam perfect pint

Hazy orange look with a clean one finger white head. Already looking like an IPA you want to start drinking.

The smell is bright and vibrant. No particular scent dominates with some citrus/fruit along with a light resiny/grassy hint. This probably is even brighter on draft or super fresh.

The taste is quite unique. Maybe Jai Alai being the only other IPA I've had with such apparent tropical fruit flavor like mango, orange, and pineapple. The malt balances the beer nicely but the hops still shine. Not much bitterness other than balancing out the taste. Really well made.

I'd highly recommend this as a go-to IPA. I can't get it here in Illinois, but I'm glad I got to try it and wouldn't hesitate to order on vacation.

The pours is mostly clear and a pale golden color with a full finger foamy white head that resists fading. A fair amount of lacing left behind. The smell is aggressive grassy, piny hop with a resin character. Adequately carbonated, the mouth feel is primarily tangy from the hops and the piny character lingers in an oily resin texture. Full flavored, the taste is a real shot in the arm. The pine grapefruit flavor is quite refreshing. The 7% ABV is integrated well. A real nice drinker. Thank you drumrboy22 for the opportunity to sample this one.

Thanks to mmtmatrix for this brew.

12oz. brown bottle poured into an imperial pint. I'm assuming a drink by date is etched in the corner but all I can make out is "xx xx 08".

A: Pours a golden light orange with perfect visibility. 1 1/2 fingers of eggshell head form and has a bit of staying power. Some decent lacing down the sides.

S: Just like an IPA should, IMHO. Big juicy citrus notes and a touch of sapping pine. A bit floral but all about the juicy sweet citrus. Malts add a slight touch of sweetness but nothing bold.

T/M: Hops add a nice kick with plenty of bitterness. Juicy citrus but not as sweet as I had expected. A nice bit of phenols play with the spicy, peppery pine. Malts rush in and balance the hop bitterness out very nicely while beefing the body up with some creaminess.

D: Tasty brew that I wouldn't mind having again. Bitterness is definitely there in this single IPA so maybe just a couple at a time.

Have heard a lot about this beer from many people, both beer drinkers and BMC people alike, figured I'd see what it was all about.

A: Poured a hazy pale golden color with a dense head about an inch thick. Its a little lighter than most IPAs but does look interesting and highly drinkable.

S: Grapefruit hop smell, some piney scents as well. The hop smell is very raw. I detect a little bit of a sugary malt smell as well, somewhat similar to cotton candy i guess.

T: A little malt sweetness upfront but its quickly washed away by pure hop flavor, citrusy bite, almost like eating a grapefruit peel. Nice lingering bitterness, alcohol taste hits towards the end as well. Pretty complex, but not overly complex, I'm thoroughly impressed. The balance is off, but not out of style at all, a little more malt would make it perfect.

M: This is perfect in the mouth for an IPA, not too watered down, not too thick either, all in all a smooth beer. Nice hop bitterness and an interesting slight dryness.

D: This is a beer I could easily drink all night, the alcohol is hidden though at 7% and could easily catch up. Overall though it doesn't leave the tongue on fire and its pretty damn good.

Thanks to Oxymoron for this extra.

This pours a clear orange/copper. Beautiful pure white head but dissipates fast. The nose is of american citrus hops but I do smell the tiniest bit of english hop. maybe just sugar. The taste of this IPA is quite amazing. With the dankness in the nose, i was a bit leary of this but i was wrong. Taste is of great crisp dry citrus and pine hops. slight sugars and just enough malt backbone. Wonderfully and uniquely smooth. Some IPAs dont have a strong hop bite and others have too much (IMO) but this one is goldilocks porridge. The mouthfeel is a wee bit thin, but goddamn does it make up for it in smoothness. This is by far the most drinkable standard IPA I have had that I can remember. Could well be the best session IPA out there. Wickedly smooth. I can see why this is a winner at the GABF. Rock on odell and thanks again to Oxymoron.

thanks to oxymoron for this one. this poured a nice glowing orange into a nonic with a slight haze and a mostly diminishing white head that formed a collar of lace throughout. smell was of honeyed peaches, yes, peaches, along with resiny citrus, pine, and sweet malt in the bouqet. very nice, powerful, fresh aroma. taste is a bit of sweet malt pushed aside by a heavy dose of lingering hop bitterness. medium-bodied with a long astringent finish. this was some surprisingly good shit.
