Poured from a bottle into a Stone IPA glass. The beer is a hazy, coppery gold color with a nice 3 fingers of persistent white head. Nice dank hoppy aroma. Cut grass, hay, fresh linen, and lemon rind.

Light-medium body with a balanced flavor and a good, firm feel. There are some cereal-like grainy notes up front and herbal, somewhat peaty hop notes at mid-palate. Soft, slightly dry finish with a hint of gooseberry sweetness.

This is an old-school IPA. The focus is on balance. It has a biscuity malt backbone and a pleasant, herbal, tea-like hop character. Recommended.

A - light, golden straw color

S - Citrusy with mild pine notes

T- This is where it can't be beat. Citrus, pine. Bold, West Coast style. This is up there with Pilny the Elder with me.

M- For an IPA, the mouthfeel can't be beat.

I really love this beer. This and Union Jack are my go to IPAs on a regular basis. And for me, it really stands toe to toe with the best rated IPAs/DIPAs on this site.

12 oz bottle poured into a globe glass

A-- Poured a slighty orange yellow color. Nearly clear, as just a small bit of haze. Short lived bright white head. At best one finger. Same on swirling.

S-- Candied orange, candied pineapple and good pine background. Lovely nose.

T-- Slick and oily taste. More about orange, pineapple, and mango. More it warms the more the pine bites back.

M-- Creamy, lots of pine and grapefruit bitterness. No oily taste in the mouth though. More in the taste though.

O-- Excellent IPA. Very drinkable and can have a few easily. Not massive bitter but complex and well rounded.

Poured a 12oz bottle into my Chimay chalice. This beer pours a burnt orange color with a big 2 inch white fluffy head that mellows into a lily pad on the top of the beer. Only mild lacing is present as the beer recedes. The aroma is fresh squeezed orange juice, grapefruit and what seemed almost like tart green apples followed up by just a hint of malty sweetness. This beers aroma is one of the fruitiest that I have ever had the pleasure of quaffing. The taste is strong orange notes with mild grapefruit tartness and just a hint of pine. It's very balanced between the hops and the malt backbone but I was expecting a little more hop bite at the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and resiny, leaving a nice coating in your mouth. Odell's makes some of the most superb beers on the market and this one is right up there with their best.

12oz with pint glass - from 03/23/12 notes
BB date of 05/09/12

A: Odell IPA pours a very clear and light colored golden straw with a perfect two to three finger stack of frothy white atop. Effervescent with nice retention and sheeted lace down the glass. Looks fantastic.

S: Nose opens up big with pungent pines and is accompanied by some nice bright orangey citrus aromas. I get some stone fruit action much like apricots as well. Real nice fruity aromas that linger about all throughout the drink.

T: Tastes of candied citrus fruits, pine resins, and slightly sweet pale malts. I get lots of American C-hops by way of orange flesh and pine needle with just a hint of crackery malt. Void of any alcohol flavors at 7%ABV. Just light hoppy and refreshing. Nicely done.

M: Mouthfeel is lighter in body with a higher carbonation and real dry crisp finish on it. Some resinous oily coating to the palate.

D: A great West coast style IPA that is juicy with hops and super drinkable. Very Pliny-esque. Not sure why this one doesn’t get more recognition. It probably doesn’t astound you but has a real great balance and is very refreshing. I would have another and another and another…
It's a shame Odell’s doesn’t make it to SoCal. I enjoyed this more than the Myrc I think.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Best by 12/05/12C.

A - Dark amber body with one finger high off white head. Thick lacing and retention.

S - Peach juice dominant with some pine and very sweet malts. Somewhat grassy and grainy.

T - Great balance of flavors. Equal does of peach, citrus, pine, and grass with a light bitterness. A little bit of crackery and sweet malt on the finish. Only deterrent here is the alcohol is noticeable. Mouth feel is medium bodied with nice carbonation.

O - A very nice IPA. I can feel the alcohol a tad, but the flavors and aromas are very nice and hoppy. Reminds me a lot of Firestone Walker Union Jack but with some grassy notes.
