Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a nonic glass.
A: Slightly hazy, orange-golden color with one finger of diminishing white foam head. Heavy lacing remains on the glass and a few sparse streams of bubbles climb in the column.
S: Grain is crisp, lightly toasted, rye-like. Hops are bright and floral. Otherwise, very clean.
T: Begins dry, with refined but substantial pale malt and floral hop aromatics that match the smell closely. Acidity is appropriately mild into the middle where the taste sweetens in the presence of late-arriving melon hop flavors. Bitterness is mild and spicy in the finish.
M: Medium viscosity, syrupy and slightly sticky, with low carbonation.
D/O: Good overall, with some honest Cascade hop qualities, this blond/pale ale is undone only by the too-heavy texture. At times it reminds of Marin's excellent Mt. Tam pale ale, except for the mouthfeel which would be quite attractive in a DIPA. Perhaps draft service would really push this beer over the top, as it does with Mt. Tam.

Bottle poured into a Duvel tulip. Dated 8-21-14, so must be a "best by" date since this is still July. Medium orange body with a light haze. Two finger off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly but leaves a bit of lacing.
Wow - nice aroma for an APA. Heavy fruit notes that seem to be a blend of many types of fruit including citrus, tropical AND a peach note. Very light malt note in the background.
The taste follows the aroma but I expected it to be a little sweeter based on the aroma. But, that's OK, the flavor rocks. A light hop note that is little more grassy than piney gives the sweet hop and malt flavors a balance.
Medium thickness in the mouthfeel and no obvious notice of alcohol. I really like this and will be seeking it out.

On draft at the Odell Brewery - June 2013
A - Yellow golden, tons of clarity. 1/2 a finger of head, and a little lace
A - Big and hoppy, due to the dry hopped process.
T - A big hopy pale ale. Well balanced, tasty!
M - Well carbonated, smooth.
O - Best Pale ale I have had in awhile. Almost - IPA-ish. Get some!
