Thank you to Lance for the free bottle of Lupulin. This was a delicious treat!

A- This is a beautiful brew. Stong golden in color with a creamy white head that lingers and leaves great lacing. Crystal clear. Begs to be drank on a hot day.

S- Piney, hops. some wet grass.

T- Very crisp, piney. no fruit to my taste buds, either topical, berry, or citrus. this is straight up pine. Malt is low, so sweetness is a minimum. Crisp, great hop flavor, and the alcohol is unnoticeable. Unlike some beers, this is best straight out of the fridge, which should be the case with summer seasonals. Our AC is out right now, and this is really hittin the spot.

M- goes down smooth, with good flavor. the bitterness stays on the tongue for a while. incredibly refreshing brew

O- one of, if not the, best summer seasonal brew I've had. So tasty, crisp, and different from most of the IPA's out there. It isn't overdone with grapefruit. Very good beer, especially for the style. I will buy this.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is bready malts and fruity, resiny hops with a little peppery spice.

The flavor is some sweet malts followed by a citrusey, resiney hop finish. Not a ton of bitterness but the flavors are good. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a very well done and easy drinking APA.

12 ounce bottle, purchased at Gomer's in Kansas City. 101709 is stamped on the label, not sure what it tells us....anyway this tasty offering pours slightly hazed yellowy amber, decent retention on the off white head and respectable froth and strandlet of lace left on the glass. herbal and citric nose...grapefruit infused ale, fruity, fairly tart and bitingly bitter, especially in the finish. Hop heads rejoice and go and get some of this tasty nectar

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Bright yellow with a touch of haze. Nice foamy white head and light lacing lines.

Smell: Very tangy orange and other citrus, with mild pine and grainy caramel malts.

Taste: Mostly orange-like hop oils with just barely sweet grainy caramel malts providing balance. Ends with bitter notes of spice and pine.

Feel: Moderate carbonation, smooth and oily but fairly light body, dry finish.

Drinkability: Lots of hop oils for an APA, making this a fairly unique beer for the style. However, despite the hop oils, it does not stray into IPA territory. Very drinkable with lots of flavor. Pretty impressive overall.

Received one bottle as a gift from a very very cool aunt of mine.
Poured into a squat pilsner glass. Small head, scant lingerings on the glass (my friends like to call this the "thigh" of the beer).

S - Not much to report here; malt and light hops. It's a pale ale.

T - Gentle malt middle (hints of herbs, tangerine) reeled in by a lingering bitter-hop backend

M - restrained, malty body trades blows with jagged carbonation for a stimulating trip

Tasted a week after I'd undergone sinus surgery, so my sense of smell was a little wonky. I'd been through a string of aggressively hoppy beers (Lagunitas lucky 13, Two Bro. Hop Juice, Hop Ottin') and this was a nice break. Hoppy, but not too hoppy. Cheers!

Bottle (2012)

Thanks for opening this with me, Josh!

Hazed golden in color with a moderately sized off-white head that leaves lines of lacing down the glass.

Some citrus, bread, and earth in the aroma. Simple enough, and nice.

The flavor is similar to the aroma, with a fairly high level of bitterness for the style, bread, earth, and citrus combining for a nice enough pale.

Medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation.

Above average.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass. Best by date of 9/10/14.

Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big three finger off white head with decent retention. Leaves a good amount of lacing.

Smell: A fruity, earthy, and floral hop forward aroma with good hints of citrus and grass. Big presence of citrus hops with hints of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, mango, and pineapple. Big floral and herbal hop presence with earthy hints of grass and pine resin. Solid malt presence with hints of caramel, grains, cracker, and yeast. A very solid hoppy aroma that is very IPA like.

Taste: Like it smells, a very earthy and juicy hop forward taste with good notes of citrus fruit and grass. Upfront presence of citrus hops with notes of grapefruit, orange, mango, lemon, pineapple, and melon. Earthy and floral hops with notes of damp grass and pine resin. Good backing of malt with sweet notes of caramel, cracker, grains, and yeast. Very hop forward. A very nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and fairly oily and chewy. Finishes dry and smooth.

Overall: A really good take on a APA. Very good taste of citrus and earthy hops with a nice malt backing. One of the better hop forward versions of the style.

A 12oz bottle with a date of 5/25/11 (which I presume is the bottling date). Picked up from my local beer specialist. Love the image on the label.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. An orangey-amber hue with considerable hazy sediment and medium carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. A hoppy aroma with notes of pine and resin, underpinned by sweet malt and hints of yeast.

Tastes of aromatic hops with a light malt backbone and a refreshing bitterness. Notes of pine, yeast esters, sweet malt and subtle graininess. Good body; the mouthfeel is smooth and astringent, leaving the palate dry. Aftertaste of piny hop bitterness and yeast.

Damn - very nice! Highly drinkable, if I had another I'd crack it right now. Light body and sweet malt perfectly balanced with a hefty dose of aromatic/bitter hops. Too bad it's a bit pricey over here, otherwise I'd make this a regular purchase. A must try for the uninitiated.

Alright, well this is my favorite in the style (I think). Great copper pour unleashes a bouquet of dry hopped nose busters. Wow.

Taste was even better! So light and refreshing, with an almost dipa like hop blast, yet isn't sticky and resin like. Very clean. The usual citrus and pine, even the typical summer lemon taste to a lesser degree. Thank you for finally making a summer seasonal with hops, I don't know why its always lemon, lemon, lemon but w/o hops. I mean, this seems in retrospect like a no brainer: lemon + hops! Brilliant!

Throughout, went down smooth, didn't fade, just wowed me consistently, and I have never been the biggest O'Dell's fan. Porter, sure, Extra Red, decent. IPA? Not a fan. But this? This is golden, this is the archtype, the model, the gold medal.
