750ml corked and caged bottle that BOLTZ7555 was nice enough to send me a couple of. i actually got a chance to try a small pour of this at the alewatcher/oreo birthday party, but now i get to sit and review it in a quiet room by myself. thanks again jason! drank from my russian river "tion" glass.
A- this one pours out a nice and dark translucent ruby red colored body with a minuscule cream colored head that quickly fizzles away into no more than a crown. little to no lacing gets left behind.
S- fresh fruits are bursting from my glass. raspberries and cherries. a little bit of the barnyard funk i expect in lambics from belgium. mildly acidic smelling. a little bit of wet oak.
T- the taste starts out with some mild acidic notes from the cherries and raspberries. both seem real and not artificial. not overly sour. after that i get some barnyard notes. once again, nothing overpowering. the fruit also adds a decent amount of sweetness to this. some more of the wet oak i could smell. earthy hops come in faintly at the end.
M- the body is a solid medium. the carbonation is very subdued. the sourness never seems overbearing. not overly dry like i was expecting.
O- i guess i was expecting more from this. im glad i got to try a bottle now and that i have one more to age. it will be interesting to see what a year or more will do to this. my first odell wild ale, and im not dying to open the other ones i also got in this trade. definitely a decent beer, but it doesnt compare to the likes of supplication like i was expecting.

750ml bottle into Jackie O’s snifter. Thanks Dave!
A: Pours a clear cranberry juice color with super fizzy layer of bubbles that disappeared almost as quickly as I pour. Very active carbonation.
S: Bright notes of cherries and raspberries (and cranberries) dominate the nose. The berries are tart and lightly sweet smelling. Dry oak barrel, lemon-like acidity, and tannic oak and fruit skins mix with the fresh berry tartness. This smells very dry and very puckering.
T: The raspberry seems to come through more than the cherry, but it is there. The oak barrel really shines and it adds a dry, earthy, woodiness to the fruit. I also get hints of lemon and also a mild sweaty funk. In the finish, I get tart berry notes that remind me of cranberries, and fruity flavors in the aftertaste are jam-like and slightly sweet.
M: Medium body with a thicker mouthfeel than I expected given the ample carbonation. The carbonation is soda-like but softer and fuller. Definitely smoother and heavier than I’d of thought. Drinks very well. Not as tart as the nose let on.
O: A clean and easy fruit sour. Fruit/oak flavors complement each other rather than overpower. Thanks again, buffs9!
