Tasted 3 March 2014.
Pours a lovely pinkish amber. Two fingers of fizzy pinkish-white head, sizzling down quickly and leaving little lacing (as expected). Thick column of bubbles rising up the center.
Smell is predominantly sweet, with fruity undertones and just a touch of tartness. Rounded, sweet fruits, filling my nose with honey and juice.
Taste comes through powerfully fruity but well balanced. Plays the sour-sweet line really well, tilting first to one, then to the other. Eventually it settles on sweet, but I love the acidic elements and the balance they provide.
Feel is outstanding. Medium-bodied, a little sticky. Prickly carbonation that is near perfect, causing the flavors to dance and play. Makes this beer significantly better than it otherwise would be.
A very enjoyable fruity almost-sour. The play of fruit and sour is lovely. And the feel is top-notch.

750ml bottle into Jackie O’s snifter. Thanks Dave!
A: Pours a clear cranberry juice color with super fizzy layer of bubbles that disappeared almost as quickly as I pour. Very active carbonation.
S: Bright notes of cherries and raspberries (and cranberries) dominate the nose. The berries are tart and lightly sweet smelling. Dry oak barrel, lemon-like acidity, and tannic oak and fruit skins mix with the fresh berry tartness. This smells very dry and very puckering.
T: The raspberry seems to come through more than the cherry, but it is there. The oak barrel really shines and it adds a dry, earthy, woodiness to the fruit. I also get hints of lemon and also a mild sweaty funk. In the finish, I get tart berry notes that remind me of cranberries, and fruity flavors in the aftertaste are jam-like and slightly sweet.
M: Medium body with a thicker mouthfeel than I expected given the ample carbonation. The carbonation is soda-like but softer and fuller. Definitely smoother and heavier than I’d of thought. Drinks very well. Not as tart as the nose let on.
O: A clean and easy fruit sour. Fruit/oak flavors complement each other rather than overpower. Thanks again, buffs9!
