Bottle obtained from local shop. Stored in cellar for about 2 months prior to consumption.
A - Very dark brown, nearly black color with a darker-tan head. Overly carbonated, on first pour, it filled the entire tulip with head - disappointing.
S - First thing on the senses is the spices, almost Belgian. Mild brett, smells of aged (oak?) wood and sweet and sour going on.
T - This beer was definitely interesting. Starts sweet with lots of flavor from the dark fruits, in the middle i tasted oak and spice, then it a tart finish via the brett. Not overly sour but a nice balance with the other flavors.
M - Medium body with WAY too much carbonation. My bottle was a bottle bomb. As soon as i took the cork out, it overflowed then on the first poor it was 99% head. Something went wrong here with this bottle....I've seen highly carbonated brews, this beat them all by a mile.
O - I have higher expectations for Odell. While i enjoyed the beer, it was let down by the mess it made all over my table, glass, and sink. The over-carbonation of this beer is an issue, or at least in my case it was. The flavors of the beer and the style of what they were going for with this brew, they did well - i commend them for that. I've had a lot of top-notch brews from Odell and i was expecting the same from this however i cant say i was thrilled with it. Beware the carbonation.

From old, undated notes. Poured from the bottle.
Opaque dark brown color.
Frothy khaki head; heavy lacing.
Smells of fresh whole grain bread & cherries. Very enticing up front.
Brown ale flavor; the dark fruit & whole grain bread doesn't really make it through.
This is a tad boring. Great nose though.

I show a bottle of this from 5 years ago in my photo album on the dinner table. Brought out by leftpaw.
Pours dark brown but lighter on the edge bordering on dark red with a solid 1" off white mild tan colored head. Impressive looking. Aroma was complex. You got the earthy brown ale notes, a brett character that encompasses both dry oak tannins and mild tartness. A little bit of caramel with that brown malt too.
Taste is slightly gritty, woody, earthy, stick to your teeth kind of brett character. Brings the unsweetened toffee and caramel tones. Elements of bitterness, relative warmth from the alcohol, but less than expected. Its a big ass imperial brown ale in a barrel with brett, so it goes lots of places within one beer.
You can't crush this at the river or softball, but its a good beer to share with a few people. Impressed how well it kept the carbonation. This wasn't a new bottle when opened. Some nutty and leather notes. Upside: complex notes, downside: can't/don't want to drink 25 oz of this, price. Its one of those beers that is neat to have 5oz of.

From notes. Had on tap at the Bryant Lake Bowl and from a bottle.
L: Pours deep ruby tinted chestnut under a fluffy, persistent, clingy 2” cream colored foam collar that creeps up over the rim of the glass.
S: Tart fruit aromas.
T: Does not taste as tart and fruity as it smells. It is sour but very rich caramel and malt ball chocolate seasoned by light roast provide sufficient balance.
F: Medium full body with very soft, creamy carbonation.
O: a delightful, very well crafted American Wild Ale.

From a 2012 bottle poured into a snifter. Local bar had it cellared.
Pours a nearly opaque, deep brown with hints of ruby in the light that barely makes it through this very dark beer. A thin, dark tan head that quickly fades to some light dusting.
The aroma is leather and cherry and oak.
The first sip is quite remarkable: WOW. Crazy, dark fruit and black cherry and then a hit of tart and funk. Maybe a bit of dark chocolate and spice. i even get a hint of cinnamon as it warms. I don not notice the alcohol at all.
The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with just a hint of carbonation left.
Overall, this is a beer that has aged beautifully. Wish I had a bottle.

My review doesn't reflect my appreciation for getting the bottle. Thank you Geoff for sending it. 750 ML bottle split with a friend poured into a tulip style glass. Comes out very dark brown, close to black. Deep mahogany highlights. Crazy big foaming white head, a lot o carbonation with a pour that wasn't even that hard.
Smell is decent, sort of tart and sour aromas as the strong point. Some candied sugar, maybe some dried figs and charred caramel. A bit of that Belgian yeast to it.
Taste is a step down from the smell. More like a Belgian brown style beer but "Imperial" because you can tell it's bigger with more alcohol. Some sweetness to with and some natural bitterness. Doesn't really taste sour; more like it's just past it's prime or an infected beer that wasn't intended to be that way.
Mouthfeel is alright, but odd. I don't think this beer knows what it's supposed to be, it has a lot going on. Not very smooth, a bit gritty. Sort of has a fermented fruit feel to it. Somewhat drinkable but overall I gotta just list this beer as "okay." Never could've finished the bottle by myself.
