Poured from a bottle into a snifter glass.
Look – jet black, with about a finger’s worth of khaki-colored foam that dissipates quickly.
Smell – syrupy, hoppy, and very much like it says…a dark IPA.
Taste – hoppy right off the bat. But the hops have a crispness to them that makes them hard to identify. They’re probably Cascade hops though. The roasted quality that they claim on the label peaks its head in around the middle of the tasting. But the hops come back in the end with the bitterness.
Mouthfeel – good balance, but leans more toward the watery side than I would have anticipated. Still good balance though.
Overall – very nice, good-tasting brew. Not terribly intriguing to think about while tasting, but not boring either.
