12 oz. bottle poured into a Duvel Tulip Style Glass. Hazy golden yellow color. A massive white head erupts after a hard pour, sticks around for a little while. Some lacing, not a ton, but some.
Smell is truly excellent. Big time hoppy, but not too overwhelming. Primarily floral and citrus hops. Orange and tangerine with some citrus zest. A little bit of pine and some sweetness that tickles your nose a little. Almost some honey pine aromas. Reasonable malted, but hops are the dominant feature here.
Taste is also quite excellent. Citrus zest, with some actual citrus, orange, tangerine, and grapefruit; possibly some slight lemon (maybe just zest) as well, but more for bitterness, it's not sour. The last flavor is actually sweet, a sweetness I can't quite put my finger on. Decent malt backbone, but certainly a hoppy beer. Alcohol is masked at 9.3 pretty well. I really like the taste of this beer quite a bit, one of the better Double IPAs I've had in awhile.
Clean crisp and very smooth mouthfeel. I like the balance, obviously more hops that malts like most double IPA's. It's actually lighter bodied than I expected. Good carbonation level and no bite from the alcohol, nice and smooth. All in all a really good double IPA. The perfect summer time beer.
Thank you Chugalug06 for the great Double IPA; I'm starting to become an Odell fan.

A: Blonde, copper hue that is hazy. Lacy, creamy off-white head with minute but steady carbonation. Head continues to cling to glass after many sips.
S: Resinous pine, honey, toffee, and a bit bready on the nose.
T: Big smack of pine, sticky bread pudding, and some subtle citrus flavors. Pine flavor remains at the forefront, but fruit juiciness shines through as beer warms up. Finishes nicely with a caramel, malty sweetness.
M: A little astringent, burning sensation from the hop oils, but not a palate destroyer. Overall, a buttery drinking, warm on the throat feeling. Bitterness lingers and never fully dissolves.
O: A great example of a Double IPA that doesn't destroy your mouth but provides plenty of the signature elements - strong pine resin, sticky mouthfeel, boozy but not too much. Not a citrus bomb on the nose or in flavor, but the malt elements compliment the heavy pine features.
