A 12oz bottle with a date of 19/5/11 (I assume this is the bottling date). As with all Odell beers, I love the label art.
Poured into a Duvel chalice. A hazy orange-amber hue with fine visible sediment and low carbonation. Produces a decent head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a surface layer. Huge aromatic hop aroma with notes of tropical fruit, citrus and pine, underpinned by sweet malt and a hint of yeast.
Tastes of overwhelming aromatic hops and sweet malt, followed by a dry, subtle bitter finish. Notes of tropical fruit and citrus, with hints of pine and yeast. Despite the high ABV, the booze goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is spicy, tingly and astringent. Aftertaste of fruity aromatic hops - yum!
In a word, excellent. Tons of fruity aromatic hops. I particularly like the restrained use of bittering hops - despite the intense aroma the bitterness is relatively mild. A top-notch brew; I'd love to have this again.
