This one, aptly named as explained on the label, is a clear brilliantly bright gold. This beer seriously shines like a gold bar. A tightly constructed but sizable clean white head drops slowly and clings to the sides of the glass in pretty heavy leggy and webby patches.
The aroma is bright and clean with a nice potency. Piney but with lots of grapefuit on the end of each sniff, I also get some tropical fruits balancing with just a hint of something minty and some floral leafiness. There's just enough malt to balance the bitterness.
This is a deliciously hoppy beer with balance, depth, and great complexity. The beginning of each sip is juicy before going into the leafy, minty middle, then more grapefruit and a rind-like zest, then even more juiciness into a well-developed finish. It never goes too chalky, dry or pithy, having lots of bitterness without overwhelming the palate. Just enough biscuity malt evens it all out. Alcohol is really well hidden, and this beer just seems so easy to drink. It's hard to believe it's almost 10%.
Crispness stays through every sip, but it's so creamy asmooth it'slike my tongue is coated with velvet every time I take another. It goes drier into the finish even as more sweetness comes in to ease the transition. The body is medium, carbonation at moderate levels.
I'm very glad I managed a trade for a chance to try this beauty, and happy that I have another bottle to enjoy.
