Tapped from a cask at the 2011 RAREaffair. Poured into a tasting glass.
Milky gold, cloudy as a day in San Francisco. Two fingers of yellow-white head bubbles down at a slow, steady pace. Like a hefeweizen in appearance.
Damn. Pine, dank, sticky weed, tropical mango, sugared orange slices, crackers, the slightest hint of pepper juice. A mighty fine aroma.
The flavor isn’t as bright. It leads with pine, followed by sweet mango and dankness. Pepper heat – a good amount of it -- rolls in quickly. It’s big, but not distracting, and great for this chilly night.
And about that pepper heat: it’s perfect, lingering on the tongue and warming my cockles without ever becoming painful. Carbonation is low and massaging; body is a soft medium.
Odell IPA is already one of my favorite readily available hop bombs; the addition of habanero makes it complex, spicy and sweet. About as good as a chili beer gets.

This was on cask at the Rackhouse Pub. It had mangoes and habanero peppers added to the standard IPA. Cloudy orange color, no head. Cask mouthfeel, no carbonation. Smells citrusy and fruity. The taste is mangoes and citrus and then the peppers kick in on the back end with some decent heat. I liked this.
