look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 3 | overall: 4

Pour/Appearance:
Golden in color with tiny chunks of unfiltered yeast floating about. Thin head that dissipates at a moderate pace; lacing quickly disappears.

Smell: Banana, with a strong wheat smell.

Mouthfeel: Notable carbonation, a light beer.

Taste: Slight citrus with a nearly overwhelming earthy wheat flavor. The unfiltered nature is very evident.

Though I am a fan of suspended chunks of yeast, and wheat beers in general, the taste was a slightly too heavy towards the wheat. I think the brewer hit what they were aiming for, though, and I can respect that. (570 characters)

A - Pale, straw yellow, fairly clear, and quite bubbly topped with a thin white head with decent retention and fabulous lacing. <4.5>

S - Bananas and clove with a slight tart, citrus aroma. Overall very sweet. <4.5>

T - Playfully sweet and spicy at the front of the pallet that gives way to a hearty malt backbone with a slight alcohol flavor, but the spices remain constant. The hops make a brief and subltle appearance to clean out the finish. Sticky remnants of hop flavor linger in the aftertaste, giving way to the spices and a faint return of banana sweetness. <5>

M - Creamy, medium body, carbonation is very subtle. <5>

O - The clean finish and subtle sweetness makes this beer very drinkable and the complex, spicy flavor begs another sip. One of the better wheat beers out there. <5> (827 characters)

Picked up a sixer from Total Wine in late June for $7.99. Best by 9/5/12.

Beer poured a cloudy golden color with a decent white head that dissipated quickly.

Nose is of wheat and grass and not much else.

Taste has a nice wheat backbone with a wonderful accent of lemongrass.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a nice carbonation that makes it refreshing.

Overall this is one of the better Wheat Ales i have tried. Odell does a great job with making true session beers flavorful. Great brew for around the pool when it is 105 out! (540 characters)

Six pack acquired at a Denver liquor store.

Pours thin, similar to an American lager, vaguely cloudy. Not much head.

Nose - not much.

Palate - an American wheat, strangely hopped?

Mouthfeel is negligible, aftertaste is nasty- grassy, vaguely sour. (251 characters)

Purchased this bottle in Denver on a trip, with a bottle date of 4-5-12. A little out of date but poured into my beer goblet with a swirl.

Appearance: A nice orangish opaque beer due to the yeast suspension. This one has a few larger specks that may be due to the age of the bottle.

Smell: Not terribly strong in the scent category. I get a vague wheat, some spiciness I suspect from the hops and yeast. A light citric note as well.

Taste: This is a thirst quencher. A more pronounced wheat in the taste, with the other flavors noted in the smell. As suspected, I think this may be a little beyond its best. Not bad, but not great either. I will hunt down another bottle.

Mouthfeel: The suspended yeast add to the solidity of the mouthfeel. The carbonation is OK as is the light to medium body.

Overall: I wish I had not let this one sit so long. This one is supposed to be really good and I found it only ok. (914 characters)

Bottle enjoyed in Fort Collins, but not at the brewery. Nice looking wheat, clear and glowing gold. Not overly complex, but the flavors are crisp, clean, and vibrant. Black pepper, grass, and lemon peel mingle beautifully with the crackery wheat. A hint of herbal bitterness keeps it dry and interesting. Quality, easy going, low impact beer with just enough oomph to stand up to the fish taco that I paired it with. (416 characters)

Poured into a standard pint glass. The beer is a hazy deep golden color. A Frothy white head sits on top and dissipates slowly to a chunky film. Loads of soapy sticky lacing. The beer smells slightly sweet with traces of malt grains and maybe even faint orange peel. The taste is very clean and balanced. Sweet malts hit first, followed by a mellow, faint hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium to light bodied with a clean finish.

Overall, a very solid wheat beer. Very sessionable and clean tasting. (500 characters)

On tap poured into a 4 oz sampling glass

A - Poured a yellow-orange, unfiltered color leaving a short head (some froth). Average carbonation.

S – A light scent of sweet citrus and banana.

T - A taste of sweet malt and biscuits followed by some spiciness with a slightly earthy finish.
M – Medium body that remains wet throughout the tasting experience.

D – One of the sweeter wheat beers lacking the spicy coriander that some beers seem to focus on. Very refreshing and on the light side as far as filling me up. The mouthfeel is of a medium-bodied beer. Interesting. (581 characters)

Note: This review was a re-post from my former account, jmkratt, which was hacked and I lost all my reviews...sorry for the redundancy.

Poured from bottle to an Odell's Easy Street glass :) Poured 3/4 of bottle into glass, twirled the remaining 1/4 to mix yeast, poured into glass.

A: After mixing the yeast the beer transformed from translucent to a cloudy opaque as the yeast mixed in. 2 fingers of white head with noticeable lacing.

S: The yeast aroma was overpowering to the point where I could not detect any other aromas. I realize that this is due to my twirling of the yeast. On-tap the beer has a noticeable difference but this review is specific to the bottle.

T: Begins with strong sweet wheat and malt flavors with some yeast characteristic. Finishes crisp and sweet.

M: It's a heavy wheat for sure fairly smooth.

D: Very drinkable beer. Easy to reach for another upon drinking.

Overall, not my favorite American Wheat but it's a very solid beer.

2.5 finger hfoamy head with decent retention for a wheat, nice lacing on a golden with slight crimson hues murky body.

S: a very nice sweet lemon aroma on a wheat and biscuity background.

T: lemon zest and wheat with a mild spice/peppery note. One of the more complete and full tasting wheat, nothing watered down about this one.

M: fuller bodied than most wheats, medium body overall and moderate to high carbonation, crisp and semidry in the finish.

Overall: Wheat beers are not my favorite but this may be the most complete beer in this genre I have had. I am ranking this based on its comparison to others in its field. (627 characters)

Okay, so I'm a bit biased. This has been my favorite wheat beer for as long as I've cared about a beer's taste over its ability to get me wasted.

Without the yeast, the beer pours a bright hay yellow with a think white head. But add the yeast? It transforms to a deep, cloudy gold. When stirred, that yeast spins lazily around in dark plumes, making the beer look like what I imagine I'd see gazing into those orbs from the modern version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still." Who can honestly say they can take that much away from the look of a beer?

The smell is fresh, clean, with hints of lemon. And the taste is surprisingly thick and balanced, with very little bitterness and a slight citrus kick. The malt makes it taste full, but not bready. It finishes clean.

Overall it's the perfect beer to take for granted. Slightly sweet, smooth and easy to drink (especially with pizza), it's easy to overlook the time it must've taken to make the beer taste so simple and refreshing. (985 characters)

amber color, somewhat tinted yellow but actually a decent orange color surounding it. A small white head formed on the top maybe one finger high and quickly dropped down to the surface leaving behind only a trace.

light wheat aromas coming off of this one. thee is a definite hint of hops in there as well with a light lemon sort of smell sitting around in the back. Light grass and some yeast aromas as well. Lots of grain in this one with a good deal of wheat coming through. Almost has that weird macro corn flavor as well, very strange. Finish is very dry with a nice bitter hoppy finish and a long drawn out flavor of bitter tangerine like. (646 characters)

Pours a slightly cloudy golden with a medium white head. Smell is a whiff of coriander, followed by some raw grain. Taste is citrus up front, followed by bread finishing with some mild yeast. Mouthfeel is average. Overall a good beer, though a bit ho hum. (255 characters)

a tasty wheat brew pours a cloudy grainy yellow with a lively white head. nose is a bit fruity, definitely smell the yeast that remains here. flavor is that of a standard wheat beer, high quality, smooth. the standout feature of this one is its mouthfeel. it is on the lighter bodied side, but has a stronger element of satisfaction than most. the high carbonaiton is perfect for this one. good outdoor summer beer, but not limited to that setting. perfectly enjoyable well into the fall as well (495 characters)

Pours a pale yellow with a creamy, white head.

Smells of pilsner malt, small ester notes...not a lot in the nose.

The taste is sweet up front with some malt character in the middle that leads into a strong orange flavor. It's simple and refreshing.

Lighter body that is crisp and smooth.

I find this to be a find wheat beer that is easy to drink but not particularly engaging. (380 characters)

Pours a cloudy gold with not as big of a white head as I would have liked.

The smell is simple. I pick up some wheat and some very slight fruit which I'm not sure if it's from the yeast or hops to be honest.

The taste is veryy malty. It's pretty much all that I pick up, but some ever so light cirtus comes through as it warms.

Amazing body which is the highlight for sure.

Nothing stands out on this beer but I think that's why I like it. Not the best but by far not the worst. (482 characters)

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a hazed and unfiltered looking gold, topped with a couple fingers of foamy bright-white head. This retains with a smooth and thin frothiness, leaving back a smattering of rich spotty lacing. The aroma is crisp, tangy, and fruity, all rolled up into one. This in turn is wrapped up in a fresh and floral feel that is showing a touch of spice as well. This just has a bright and full flavored feel to it in the nose.

The taste has a crisp twang of wheat and ripe fruitiness to it, with a tingle of citric bitterness giving the profile a bit of assertiveness. The finish on this is dry and bitter, with a touch of lingering fruit. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a crisp and lively feel throughout, yet the overall effect is quite smooth and quenching on the palate. Maybe just a smidge of warmth shows itself at times.

I think that I was a bit shocked by how much I liked this one. It’s a full flavored Wheat Ale with a decidedly hoppy American edge to it and just overall packs a tasty crisp tanginess to it that is quite refreshing and drinkable. I’d go for a glass of this, not just on a hot summer day, but any day period! (1,177 characters)

Pours a hazy gold with creamy thin white head. Good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is of sweet wheat, a touch of citrus, and fresh cut grass. The taste follows with a strong, sweet bready wheat backbone, a hint of banana, orange peel zest, black pepper and faint hint of clove. Very well balanced, medium bodied, and refreshing. We sampled this one at the Odell Taproom with some friends, a few Saturdays ago. Poured a hazy dark golden color with a decent white head. Aromas of citrus and bready yeast. On the palate, this one is light bodied and very refreshing, with citrus, yeast and wheat. One of the better wheat offerings out here. (308 characters)

Pours a very hazy dark golden orange color with golden banana yellow hues and a one finger frothy white head that slowly fades into a lasting cap.  Glass is left with large streaks and rings of soapy lacing.

Sweet citrus aroma with hints of bready yeast and zesty spice.  Hints of peppery clove and orange peel but not much banana slight alcohol phenol character.

Medium bodied with a nice balance of zesty spice, bready yeast and sweet citrus fruit.  Very similar to the aroma with hints of wheat, bread yeast along with peppery clove, lemon zest and orange peel.  The spice character is prominent but the other notes still shine through.  Mineraly dry finish.  Clean and refreshing with a nice dry spicy character to give balance and complexity.  Good wheat beer for the summer.  Lacking in alcohol an banana flavor but still pretty solid.   (857 characters)

Time for a nice light summer beer. Odell’s Easy Street it is!! Picked up this bottle while in Phoenix, AZ on a recent business trip. Bottle is stamped 6/30/11 so we are within the freshness window.

Poured with a wispy pale white head that faded rather quickly. The initial pour was a clear light gold color, but this became hazy as I swirled in the sediment. Light orange hints of color. Some splotchy lacing.

Aroma is very delicate and fresh. Light citrus and perhaps a hint of orange. Light wheat and a hint of yeast.

Very light flavor. Mostly light citrus like the aroma and a light wheat bread flavor. Finishes with a crisp finish that leaves you wanting more. Goes down so easy its scary.

Light refreshing mouth feel. Perhaps a touch watery if you focus on it.

A very drinkable beer. Fine, but not a lot of character. This is not a dis at the style as I believe some more yeast and wheat character would have made this much more interesting. (953 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a SA Perfect Pint glass.

A - pours a hazy goldenrod. Smallish head, dissipates quickly - leaves a little collar with a bit of foam bubling at the top. Appears to be well carbonated.

S - wheat and yeast dominate, with citrus and possibly some banana notes underlying. Some malt in the mix as well. Very nice.

T - bready and biscuity wheat flavors up front with a burst of citrus at the end. Spice? Maybe.

M - smooth, silky body paired w/ nice carbonation. Very pleasing and quite enjoyable.

O - overall, a very nice beer. I had some time ago but have forgotten how solid it is. The aroma in particular was very nice. (658 characters)

Back home now, pouring this into a Pint glass.

A slightly hazed yellow color. Small white head. Minimal retention an lacing, even for style.

Smells of nice lemony citrus over a wheat malt note. The taste is about the same. The fact that this isn't crazy busy is actually nice and refreshing. When a beer is a one-trick-pony, it's always nice when that trick is well-executed.

The body is medium with more carbonation than the looks suggest.

Overall, this is pretty easy to drink. The light sweetness of the malt with the lemony citrus finish is nice and refreshing. (573 characters)

Hazy, golden body sits in the glass with a pretty little head. Wafts of yeast and wheat scents are immediately carried up to the nose on the advised 2/3's pour... Certainly an attractive start. Further aroma has a hint of citrus and a sweet, smooth maltiness to round it off. Very potent smell, and a very good one at that.

This brew's chock full of delicious! Heavy citrus and wheat balance each other out. Tart, but not quite full-blown sour flavor doesn't overwhelm the tastebuds. Light, easy body carries the beer to the back of the tongue, slowly letting the wheat do the talking along the way. Clean finish rounds things off nicely as the lacing let's me know it's almost time to call this one finished. That'll be a sad moment, but so it goes...

Overall/notes - This is the American Wheat I've been waiting for! Finally, a clean, easy beer with massive amount of flavor. Definitely a summer beer in my book, and hell, I could drink this anytime regardless. Fantastic first go-around with Odell... I look forward to the rest of the brews that await me in the fridge. (1,074 characters)

A fine example of a clean American wheat beer and not a bad session ale. The aroma is not quite citrusy, but there's a floral note behind the sweet-smelling wheat and barley malt. The flavor has a slight sugar cookie taste to it upfront with more nuanced bread dough and clove notes in the finish. I'm not usually a big fan of the style, but this is very well done, right down the light (but not too light) body and smooth mouthfeel. I'd take another. (451 characters)
