Notes/Commercial Description:
Not quite a stout but definitely no lightweight, Cutthroat Porter is smooth and robust. Inspired by the classic London porters, we use dark roasted malts to create a deep, rich color and flavor that hint at chocolate and coffee. We named it Cutthroat Porter as our tribute to the Colorado state fish – with its own rich heritage and unmistakable dark coloring. And while we’re big fans of small batches, here’s to the currently threatened Cutthroat population reaching mass quantities.

Pours out a jet black color with a medium tan head that reduces to a thin layer but stays throughout the whole sitting. Uh waiter I'll have a extra strong coffee black hold the cream and the sugar, and add a touch of chocolate and hops and you get this porter. Smell is straight up coffee and a little bit of chocolate. This is medium to full bodied brew, very smooth to drink and enjoyable. I'd like to thank Nick(ColoradoBeerman) for hooking me up with this and a whole array of Colorado brews.

12oz bottle poured into a nonic pint. Best before 5/3/14

A - Decent clarity, dark brown. Great cap of tan head that holds strong. Tons of lacing.

S - Huge munich malts. Fainter chocolate. Clean.

T - Rich toasty malts that are bright. Roast malts dry up the flavor. Sweetness is minimal. Finish is crisp and aftertaste is short.

M - Medium to medium-light body, medium-high carbonation, semi-dry.

O - Malt pops in the taste and is never really sweet. Great look, very sessionable.

Recommendation - Easy to drink a six pack and well worth it.

Bottle poured into 3/4 glass.

Thick black with an off white head, good retention.

Smell - Caramel, Brown Sugar, Coffee

Taste - Caramel and Coffee all the way through, slight hop kick at the end

Mouthfeel - Smooth, goes down easy, so smooth you can't tell it's 5+%

Good for after a days work and even at a BBQ with a steak.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter on a cold icy Sunday morning. Deep dark and thick with a chocolate brown color...almost black. Nice off white head, dissipated rather quickly. Sticky lacing throughout review.

Mostly bitter dark chocolate on the nose...maybe a hint of caramel coffee.

Nice carbonation on a medium balanced mouth feel...a semi sweet tootsie roll creaminess in the middle followed by a dry dark bitter chocolate finish. As with the beginning of the taste the finish is a hit of tiny bubbles popping in my mouth/throat.

A decent porter from Odell, I prefer mine a little more sweet, the bitter finish lingers a little long for my liking. Gets better as it warms, probably won't buy again but wouldn't turn a free one down...

Huge thanks to MilwaukeeCrusher for bringing this beer up north last summer.

A: Pours a black-brown with 4 fingers of dense tan head which slowly dissipates to a 2 finger puffy layer with plenty of lacing.

S: Rich pudding cake, malty sweet with caramel sugars together roasted coffee. Slightly alcohol esters on the finish.

T: Dark cocoa powder, caramel and roasted coffee. Taste is similar to the smell but is more bitter and less sweet.

M: Smooth medium bodies with low carbonation.

O: One of the better porters I've had - the taste is a bold as many stouts and it is only the lower ABV that points to a porter - worth seeking out if you can find it in your area or can find someone to trade it with you.

Dark, amber-brown color topped with a chunky, light tan head. Coffee and chocolate scents; charred grain; faintly smokey smell. Deep malt flavor; semi-sweet with a tangy bitterness. Medium bodied; slightly coarse on the tongue.

A fine, flavorful porter that has some nice, deep and complex flavors. A little lighter in feel than some porters, but the taste and appearance really hits the mark. Smooth and alluring.
