Bottle pour for New Brew Thursday's 3rd Anniversary event held at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a murky brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour and tart with some malt, fruit, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with a woody flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty but has a better smell in my opinion.

A: Dark amber with vigorous carbonation upfront. about 1/2inch of off white head.

S: Has a strong pungent sour (almost spoiled) dark fruits. Also has some some aroma of dark cherries/berries, vanilla, figs, citrus and raisins.

T: Sweet yet very tart. The aroma truly matches the taste. It has a bit of a sour apple taste with some citrus characteristics.

M: medium drinkable body but has a sour/taste feel that lingers

O: new to this style of beer; its different but good. As far as I know, not many breweries try to make this this type of beer. worth buying.

From 12/29/12 notes. Thanks to nmann08 I think for sharing this one.

a - Pours an amber-brown color with one finger of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of roasted notes, sweet and sour dark fruits, tart cherries, oak, fruity malts, and some caramel malts. Lightly sour but nice overall.

t - Tastes of sour cherries, tart dark fruits, raspberries, oak, funk, roasted and toasted malts, fruity malts, acedic, some vanilla. More sour fruits than the nose; a step up for me.

m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. Lightly acedic, but not a lot.

o - Overall a very nice flanders. Nice sour cherries and dark fruits, especially in the taste. Would like to have it again.

I wasn't sure what to expect as I'm that experienced with this style of beer. I wanted a growler of something different so I gave it a try. The pour is a beautiful tawny color with a nice 1-2 finger head. The head reduces to a ring that tracks its way down the glass. The nose is at first somewhere between slight vinegar and a old tawny port. The initial taste is "what just hit me"? It's a complex taste that's going to take a bit to sort out. The first thing I taste is the sour, It hits my taste buds and wakes them up. It is not an overpowering sour, but it is the first thing I notice. Next there's a fruity zest in the equation. Tart berries, maybe a touch of red wine. The aftertaste is very pleasant and asks for more. I would definitely buy this again.

Dark tawny mahogany, lasting tea-stained foam, creamy surface texture. Reddish highlight. A collar and ring of lace forms after a few minutes. The head lasts for a good while, eventually breaking apart after a few sips.

Complex aromas of vanilla yogurt, wet wood, grapes and earthy wild yeast funkiness.

Tart and tangy, soft tannic bitterness in the aftertaste. Dark fruit, red grapes, vanilla, plenty of body and a puckering finish. Creamy feel with smooth carbonation. Unique taste for an Oud Bruin, moderately sour and complex. Would pick this up again, it's a pretty unique iteration, for fans of American Flanders-style Ales as La Roja, La Folie, and Supplication.

Brown glass bottle with hood and wire cap over a cork served into a Guiness goblet in me gaff in high altitude Castle Rock, Colorado. Reviewed live.

A: Pours a two finger light khaki head, fairly thin, of decent cream and good retention. Body colour is a dark amber-black. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.

Sm: Sourness and bacteria, great yeast, and basic pale malts. An average strength aroma.

T: Sourness and bacterial notes. Neutral malts. A nice body. Quite well balanced. Well built. Nicely acidic. A tasty beer.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Good palate presence. Near ideal carbonation. Complements the aroma quite well.

Dr: Quite drinkable. An incredibly tasty sour beer. I'd definitely have this again. A very worthwhile sour. Hides its ABV well.

High B
