Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Must is to wine as wort is to beer; the primordial ooze, the source and foundation, that feeds the process of fermentation we all love so much. Amuste is the culmination of a two year endeavor to marry these two fuels into the same fire. An Imperial Porter aged in oak wine barrels accented with juice with Tempranillo grapes grown on the Western Slope of Colorado, this harmonic carbonation is truly, a must.

Pours dark brown almost black, with a 3 finger tan head, with very good retention and lacing. The aroma has grapes, dark roasted malt, and cocoa.

Tastes pretty much like it smells with grapes, dark roasted malt, and cocoa. An interesting combination of flavors, and I'm not sure if this works for me or not. Does seem to be overly sweet. The grape flavor seems to overpower the dark roasted malt and the cocoa.

Medium bodied with average carbonation, and there is a strong grape aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden for a 9.30 % abv beer. Not a bad effort, but I'm not sure I would seek this out again.

Poured in to a tulip. Massive 4 finger, over-carbonated, head. Very frothy. Pitch black body with some hints of ruby.

Chocolately, a bit oakey and slightly acidic aroma. Malty with some hints of alcohol. A bit earthy.

Taste with huge of chocolate in the middle and end. A bit earthy and acidic upfront with some subtle notes of grapes. Light vanilla and oak throughout. Moderate bitterness in the finish. Roasty. Malty and a bit warm with alcohol.

Medium body, medium/high carb, dry finish. A bit "hot".

Enjoyable beer. Big amounts of chocolate with the dark fruit flavors go nice together.

A: Dark brown, nice frothy head with great retention
S: Chocolate, fruit, funk, sweet
T: Stone fruits, roasty, sour coming through, slightly tannic in finish.
M: Above average carbonation with medium mouthfeel.
O: This is my second bottle, one fresh and one with about 6 months on it, can't say I like it any better with age. In fact this beer just perplexes me in general. When I first tried it I didn't think I enjoyed it much, but once it warmed up it became much more complex and is a very interested flavor profile. I've had several wine/beer pairings before but think the porter with grape juice in wine barrels is one of the most interesting efforts yet. Worth seeking out.

Poured into a snifter after a resounding pop of the cork.

A; Dark brown. A tan, one finger head that lingers. Frothy lacing.

S: Malts, sour fruits; oak, wine (what a mix)

T: Sour, tart, fruity. Vanilla. Then malts and smoky oak slip in.

M: Medium with a frothiness on the tongue.

O: Unusual, but I liked it. Interesting hybrid.

A: The beer is very dark black (brown when viewed for afar). It poured with a quarter finger high tan colored head. That hardly died down, consistently leaving a thin head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark malts, oak and hints of smoke are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell except that it has flavors of oak and white wine plus notes of Tempranillo grapes towards the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is an interesting porter, although it might have been a litte more noteworthy if the grape flavors stood out a litte more in the taste.

A - Pours a dark brown with a huge three inch tan foamy head with good retention.

S - Roasted malt, porter-ish with fruit. Some earthiness as well.

T - Dark fruit, wine, oaky, roasted malts, finishes tart.

D - Tons of carbonation with a medium body.

O - Porter aged in wine barrels, tastes just like that. Ok.
