No freshness dating I notice

A- Pours a nice looking bright orange color with a big four fingers of head on it that holds steady and leaves nice lacing on the glass.

S= The smell is dominated by the fruity hop aroma with a little bit of a peach coming through.

T= The taste starts out with a big hop punch. A nice fruity hop flavor before mellowing with some sugary sweet peaches. The peaches are a subtle flavor in the overall profile but do make themselves present.

M= A little overcarbonated for my liking but still ok.

O= If this were year round I would drink it all the time in the summer. Seeing as it's limited however I will pass on future bottles for someone else to enjoy. I liked it but not enough to buy a bunch now and sit on it. It's a decent beer but not worth going crazy to find it in my opinion. Check it out yourself though.

Imperial peach IPA? Yes, please.

Poured into a snifter. Looks like an IPA. Golden in color, decent head, no lace. Hoppy citrus aroma with faint peach. Nice smell, but not outstanding. Everything falls into place, however, with the taste. Dry up front, with a subtle hoppiness and muted fruit flavors. Finishes with a bitter peach flavor in the back of the throat. Really nice stuff here. It's flavorful without going overboard. It's a big beer at 10.1% ABV, but it's not a boozy beer. It's even-tempered and, dare I say, mellow? To accomplish that with a 10% beer is saying something. Mouthfeel is smooth and chewy.

I love this beer. It's not overly peachy, or overly hoppy, or overly boozy. It's a smooth-drinking IPA that's got balance and layers. Just complex enough to spark conversation, but not too controversial to draw too much attention. More fruit beers should take notice, because this one works well. Cheers.

Pours a clear light orange color with a small, white head that fades quickly.

Smells of fruity peach notes along with a little tropical fruits.

Tastes of the fruity notes playing into a sweet malt profile. Fruity peach notes lead off along with pineapple and mango. Fruity sweetness is played up with syrupy malts which is right on the border of too much sweetness. Hop bitterness is low. Finishes fairly clean.

Moutfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a fruity beer, but I want more hops to come out and especially want more bitterness to it.

A- Clean, light golden copper. 2 Finger white head. Fair lacing

S- Sweet peach and honey. Apricot, melon, and floral hops.

T- Sweet again with an almost tart mid flavor. Syrupy. Reminds me a lot of some of my homebrews that missed the mark. Not nearly as hoppy as the style demands. Mild bitterness to say the least. Boozy as well.

M- Low carbonation, mid body, and alcohol heat. Lacked any crisp or clean character. Sits too heavy.

O- Tasty at times, but hardly an IPA. I would call it more of a golden fruit ale. This one was not worth the money, and that's something I very rarely say about Odell. Peach just simply may be the wrong fruit for this style.

$16 for a 22oz bottle

750ml brown glass bottle with decent label art and branded hood-and-wire cap over a branded cork acquired at my local Central Market grocery earlier today and served into a conical Pinthouse Pizza pint glass in me gaff in low altitude Austin, Texas. Reviewed live. Expectations are high given the brewery. 10.1% ABV. Reviewed as an imperial IPA because the label clearly identifies it as such. 2014 vintage.

Served cold - at fridge temp - and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: No bubble show forms as it's poured.

Pours a one finger wide head of white colour. It's actually kind of thin, which is disappointing. Lacks creaminess and frothiness. Consistency is poor, as is complexion. Head retention is average - about 2 minutes. No lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes.

Body colour is a clear translucent pale peach-copper of average vibrance. Clean; no floating yeast particles or hop sediment is visible. Appears undercarbonated.

Overall, it's not a very impressive appearance for an imperial IPA, but it's not bad looking by any means. Far from unique or special. There are no egregious flaws. I'm optimistic.

Sm: Sweet fruit - peaches, I guess. Sweet pale malts. Floral hop character. Some fruity esters. A mild amount of esters.

No yeast character or spice detectable. I don't find any off-notes aside from some obvious fruity booziness, which really dominates the aroma.

It definitely seems too sweet and too boozy, and I'm not getting much in terms of hop character or bitterness - which is a serious problem in an imperial IPA. It's shaping up to be a syrupy mess. Aroma is fairly strong as well.

T/Mf: Drinks like homebrew. Boozy syrupy sweet peaches and some accompanying fruity esters dominate the flavour profile. There's also some boozy pineapple - a note I personally can't stand in IPAs (or beer in general). Hopwise, it offers little - just some fruity character and generic floral character. There isn't enough hop bitterness to either satisfy the demands of the style or to balance the almost cloying one-two punch of sweet peach fruit and sweet pale malt. I also pick up on caramalt.

Texture is poor. It has a sticky syrupy feel on the palate, with too much weight and body. Smooth and wet, but also strangely weak and thin. Plenty of alcohol warmth makes this beer's presence on the palate worse still. This mouthfeel doesn't complement the flavour profile or the style well at all. Carbonation is completely off.

Not oily, gushed, harsh, or astringent.

The egregious lack of balance really destroys this beer. It lacks complexity, subtlety, intricacy, and nuance - any depth this beer might have had is ruined by the overabundance of peach puree, which ruthlessly dominates the flavour profile to its detriment.

Average flavour duration and intensity.

No yeast character comes through.

It just has a raw, young taste suggestive of abundant unfermented sugars. A higher attenuation yeast would be helpful, but the real problem is right there in the concept of the beer - there're just too damn many peaches used, and they don't feel at all naturally integrated into the flavour profile. Ugh.

I'm not liking this beer at all.

Dr: The low quality makes this difficult to drink. I'm shocked Odell brewed this. It'll take effort to down the entirety of this sweet teeth-rotting booze-bomb, and I'm pretty disappointed. This is definitely a beer best avoided. Possibly Odell's weakest work to date. I won't be buying it again, and I'd caution friends from picking it up.
