Odell Loose Leaf: I am not a big light ale fan, but the Loose Leaf turned out to be worth a try. This brew has a light golden color, a fair amount of carbonation, a thin head that lasts longer than expected and a very faint aroma. It all comes down to the flavor, which is light but also complex. Lots going on in this beer, fruits, spices and a distinct tea flavor. The mouthfeel is wet and a lightly sweet aftertaste lingers for a long while. The complexity of the beer makes it worth a try, but also keeps it from becoming a standard to have over and over. There is something un-beer like in this beer. Odell is a great brewer, but Loose Leaf will not be the next big thing. Odell needs to come up with a flagship lager with a catchy name and put it in a BPA free can. That would take Odell to the next level.
