On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Clear dark straw color with a very small white head. Small dots of stick spot the glass.

Mild aroma: mild lemon, wheat, a little bit of grass, and some salt.

The flavor is very similar to the aroma: wheat, lemon, grass (but not funk), and a hint of salt combine nicely enough.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Plain, but very drinkable.

On tap at O'Brien's

A: Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow color with almost no head.

S: Almost smells more like a malty lager. Light grassy hop notes with a good amount of lemon, bready malt and a little bit of cereal malt. A little bit of wet beach towel in the background as well.

T: Starts tart upfront with big lemon and line notes. Middle brings a touch of grassy hops, a touch of salt and some grain. Very easy drinking. A great summer beer.

Clear amber in the big tulip glass. Ultra thin body. Starts with a decent head, but the carbonation just evaporates to nothing, which is unfortunate since this sthle really needs some body and foam.

A pleasant malty taste with a completely zingy sharp flavor. The tartness is about right for some sipping and provides a nice aroma. Refreshing gulp but still a little too acid to settle easily on the stomach.

Another interesting low-alcohol style that needs some tinkering. Utah brewers, take note. This may be in the select company of "best goses I've had." The few and the proud. On tap at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach.

On tap for the 4th Anniversary event at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a murky light orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, spices, yeast, and some slight salty aromas. Taste is much the same with a slight tartness and a mildly salty aftertaste on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is quite refreshing and easy to drink.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours a fairly clear gold with a light white head. Some spotty lace.

S: Lemon and salt. That's the nose, but it's certainly inviting.

T: Lemon zest, wheat and salt. This is a straightforward flavour, they're not trying to do something too crazy with it.

M: Crisp, bright carbonation, clean, refreshing, light-bodied.

O: A very good gose and an inviting beer on this Indian Summer day. Goses don't come around too often, but when they do, I order them. This is one I'm glad I did.
