12 ounce can canned in April 2013. Thanks Brandon!
Pours clear, deep reddish brown in color, with a small but durable tan head.
Aroma: a balanced and very appealing mix hops and malts.
The flavor leans more to the hoppy side, and is certainly a bit hoppy for style.
Medium body; crisp, medium+ carbonation.

Sampled at the Distillery from the very first keg available to the public. Excited about this new brewery opening in my backyard!
Poured a dark brown with reddish highlights and a creamy ivory head that leaves nice lacing as it fades. Nice Brown Ale aromas of roasted nuts, chocolate, caramel, and some nicely bitter hops. Flavors follows the nose nicely, lots of expected Brown Ale flavors of chocolate, coffee, and roasted nuts but again the finish is a nicely bitter blend of espresso and resinous hops. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, with a medium body and good carbonation. Overall a very solid Brown Ale, I'm gonna re-visit this many times!

A: Dark brown with a ruby tinge, slightly cloudy and you can’t see any carbonation. Three whopping fingers of beige foamy head.
S: Coffee, chocolate, dark toasted malts, vanilla, orange candy, citrusy.
T: Dark toasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate with citrusy notes, orange candy and vanilla, then a metallic note on the end. Light bitterness. Light sweetness.
M: Thick bready, lightly syrupy body. Medium foamy carbonation.
O: The dark malt and light citrusy combination remind me of a lighter version of a black IPA. Really enjoyable. Got this at Whole Foods in Savannah, drank it in Tampa July 21st, 2014.

"This American Brown Ale is crafted with a rich malt flavor, balanced by a crisp hop finish." Brewed in the style of an American Brown Ale, this is one of two launch year round releases by Coastal Empire Beer Co., available in 12 oz. can 6 packs and on draft.
Poured from a 12 oz. can to a pint glass. Served above 55º Fahrenheit.
(Appearance) Pourer be wary as this beer is easily excited and explosive upon opening. Pours a biscuity cream white head of a foamy frothed consistency over an amber brown body with a moderate haze. Carbonation is plentiful and spritely. Retention is above average, lacing is light and patchy. 3.75
(Smell) A very fruity, citrusy nose for a brown ale. Moderately roasted bready barley malts, some toasted caramel grain, a pinch of unsweetened chocolate. Hop profile generates some herbal, peppery and citrusy notes with a mellow perceived bitterness. Sweet fruity notes of raisin and date with brown sugar sweetness help amplify the body. Potency is moderate. 3.75
(Taste) Grainy caramel, chocolate syrup and bread malts create a solid malt body, with a citrusy hop undertone. Bitterness is moderate, a bit more amplified than expected per the style. The finish is mildly dry with a toasted nutty bitterness. 3.5
(Mouthfeel) Texture is smooth, fluffy, slightly chewy. Carbonation lends a soft frothiness for an increased creaminess. Body is medium for the style, medium+ overall. Balance is slightly sweet over bitter. Alcohol presence is mild, off characters minimal. 3.75
(Overall) A pretty enjoyable American Brown Ale with a good deal of hop character and citrusy notes in the background. Quite tasty and unique. 3.75

Also had this on tap at The Distillery. Went local over a lot of other solid drafts. Dark brown to black with reddish hints at edges. Thin head which faded fast. Not picking up much aroma here. Taste is hoppier than most brown ales I've had. Some tobacco and rye flavors. Not getting the chocolate here. Kinda thin watery feel and a metallic aftertaste. Not feeling this one.

What a pleasant surprise!
A: Thick creamy head with nice lacing.
S: A little mineral, a little chocolate.
T: Malt in the front, shivery soapy hops at the aftertaste. Quite a hoppy brown, really - but without screaming 'ZOMG 'Hopzorz!1!' at you. It's nicely balanced and not medicinal at all. The aftertaste IS a smidge medicinal though, an inevitable outcome of the hops.
MF: Round, not too prickly.
