I'd been looking forward to the opening of The Fridge for quite some time. It's high time Lancaster had a place with a fine bottle selection of craft brews.
The low-slung building is easily reached from Harrisburg Pike or James Street and is right behind The Arts Hotel.
The seating area is a bit larger than Al's of Hampden and is decorated with framed pictures of old refrigerator advertising; a nice touch. It's a good space.
Everyone was friendly and the service was quick.
The bottle selection was very good and I found some IPAs and DIPAs I'd not tried. I got a six-pack of 12 ozs to go, which comes with a 10% discount over the singles price: 15% if you get 8 bottles. There are also bombers, which seemed pricey to me, so I passed.
There are six taps and each one was a winner. The growler prices are more reasonable than the bombers and I got a growler of Stone Ruination to go.
I had a glass of Smuttynose Homunculus with my Pesto/Pistachio pizza. They seem to specialize in white pizzas. My smallish, thin slice was pretty good. The thin crust wasn't NY crispy style and the toppings were a little skimpy but the price was just $3.00. I guess I would've rather had a big, $5.00, full-meal slice with some marinara sauce.
Overall, I think The Fridge is off to a good start and they will dial in their food, beer selection, number of taps and prices to meet market demand. Definitely glad they are here in my county and I will certainly be returning from time-to-time.

This is now a staple in Lancaster, and it is a good place to go. We enjoy it occasionally, although it is a little small. The food is always interesting, and the bottle selection is outstanding. The staff is friendly and engaging, and it is definitely worth a visit.
